I needed a place to take my granddaughter while my wife and daughter shopped for a bit at Jefferson Pointe. This filled that requirement perfectly. The accessibility by car and the parking area were more than adequate. The playground though not elaborate, was nice enough for our needs. The picnic pavilion provided a nice spot to sit in the shade and offered restrooms that were in decent shape at the end of the building. The thing that struck me most about this moderate-sized park was the extensive green space that made it feel even larger than what it was. It just created a refreshed feeling that was very satisfying. It looked like there was a baseball diamond at the far end of the park, though I did not venture down that way. If you're in the area and need a fresh-air respite, a place to let your kids spend some energy, or simply a place to sit outside to enjoy your sandwich or your coffee, this presents a place to satisfy those needs.

It is a bit confusing with the many areas where it splits off. More signage and colored paveways would not only be more attractive, but make it safer. The dam is a pretty stopping point. When I heard this was open to the public instead of being farther back on the base, I made a point to stop by. It is right at the entrance, outside the security gates. There's a nice large parking lot, and the park has clearly been redone recently. The parking lot's new, there are walking paths, the planes are in excellent shape and nicely displayed. Plus, there's a very nice shelter house, and a midsize playground. Well worth a visit just as a park if you live in the area. Anyone who likes aviation and is anywhere nearby, within an hour or two anyway, should come check it out. I was very impressed and will come back someday even though I do not live nearby.

Great zoo! So glad I got to experience it during my short weekend trip to Ft. Wayne. Didn't expect…read moremuch upon entrance in the neighborhood; you wouldn't expect an awesome zoo from where I turned down a residential road. If kind of looks like a boring park from the outside, besides the giant ZOO sign. Parking is easy and ample; no issues and no parking fee or gate! Bonus. Plenty of gate space and easy entrance and it was during their lantern festival so it was even more visually appealing. We won't about 4 hours or so, exploring every nook and cranny of this place! The set up is great and it's by "location" of the world mostly with unique animals and a great collection to ponder. From jungles and the Amazon to plains and safari, it's an awesome varied spectacle of species. Now they don't have any bulk animals- elephants or rhino types. What they do have is basically every big cat besides a mountain lion and snow leopard. But they have a serval and a clouded leopard and an entire roaming paddock of giraffes that you can feed. There's even a ropes course for kids and a train. However their canal boat ride was closed! They also have one of the only Tasmanian devils in the world- 1 of 7 zoos to do so. They had the last remaining North American devil back in 2014 but now have a pair of females that weee cool to watch. I will say pack your food. The food is severely lacking for hot options. Pizza is terrible and the pretzel is also lackluster. A lot of service counters were closed and had no workers. Found one single spot to get a beer in the Australian outback section but it was a long wait. Oh yeah they also have a sting ray petting pond and an aquarium on site. Truly awesome variety of animals. Another note; skip the treetop ski ride. It sucks. Terrible views and not worth buying tickets for.

We did the swans that was fun. The had cute red pandas. And touch a stingray. We had come food for lunch. We got two 3 piece chicken tender. They do almost seem homemade. I am sure they were not but they were fresh hot and tasty. It was like $15 I think for each and it came with fries. We cut them and shared. We also had someone with us who needed a device and we opted to get the scooter. They was $27. Making for a much better day getting around the park. This was an easy process to acquire one. I came and visited Fort Wayne's Japanese Friendship Garden as i was in the area. When i stumbled…read moreupon its existence online, i got quite excited. I love going to botanical gardens, conservatories, etc. The website for the garden, "The Friendship Garden was a gift from Fort Wayne's sister city, Takaoka, Japan." I totally wanted to stroll through it and enjoy the day. I was even more interested when i saw that the garden was on the Arts United grounds within walking distance of the Civic Theatre. Since i was going to be watching a play with my family, i thought oh cool we can spend an extra hour or so after in the Japanese garden. Well silly me, I should have noticed this garden was .11 acres in size. You can walk that in 2 minutes. Sure its nice... but very small. I am sure its probably more beautiful when the plants are in bloom, but still... so small. Also the place didn't look as well maintained as it should be. Is it worth seeing... sure if you are watching a play in the Civic Theatre you might as well. They should consider expanding this garden.

Since then, it has piqued my interest which is why I stopped by! "Arthur Smith was so nutty about flying that his Fort Wayne friends named him "Birdboy." In 1910, when Arthur was only 19, he built and flew his own plane from a Fort Wayne golf course. It crashed, but Birdboy didn't mind, and he kept flying (and crashing) until he was one of the top stunt pilots in America."

People bring their dogs, who aren't up to date on their vaccinations, and dogs who aren't dog friendly. But Fido's Forest? Totally different. You and your dog(s) are the only ones there during your time slot. They still have you send proof of vaccinations. Which is great!! You book your visit online, and then they email you a code for the gate. There are poop bags everywhere for you to use. (But no trashcan, so you have to take it with you.) There is a sign explaining why they don't have a trashcan for poop. They have toys, balls, and Chuck Its for your dog to use. If your dog loves sticks, they will be in Heaven!! There is a cute little area with chairs and tree stumps, for people to sit while their dogs play. There are also some benches. It was just such a great experience and we can't wait to go back!!

From kids walking into the woods with canteens we go into the woods hang up are rope then find sticks. then we are awarded with a fire then finally lunch this park is highly encouraged for parents to take there kids too over the summer. Another thing is this park is normally unbiased not trying to teach your kids to be more left leaning or right. Just the main goal of the park is the kids and how to make the camp more enjoyable
