A fun little side quest turned into a 30 minute hunt through trails and grass and trees for his graveside. The grave is located off of a path and is very hard to get to. My husband and I found the grave and took a picture to remember it because we won't be coming back.

Fast, compact park with flow bowls, vert, banks, hips, big spine, and 70s style snake run lines all…read morethroughout with lots of rounded/rollover edges (plenty of metal coping too, though). Had the park all to myself, and had crazy lines all throughout; with a crowd, it's probably a snake session. It's right by the MLK bridge, and down the street from Rise skateshop, with a big empty parking lot connected by a path. It's high-fenced in with a revolving mantrap gate to keep bikes out - and two dedicated police parking spots for surveillance right across the street. Maybe if it had been built in a more visible location they wouldn't have bothered, but that much sucks. Skateboarding is not a crime! Not a ton of street elements - a bar here, a box there, some banks, low hubbas. This is definitely a transition park, and one you could carve all around on a longboard. The concrete is rough; definitely pad up, because you're going to shed some skin here. Build quality is otherwise fine - just wish there were some pool coping / raw concrete edges to grind, it's slick metal coping everywhere that has an edge.

I must say I love this skatepark... however I'm not particularly fond of their no bikes or scooters…read morerule. This particular section of ordinance is archaic and was written in a time when skateboarders and bikers were not particularly friendly with each other, and before scooters. As a result individuals interested in BMX or scooters are unfairly denied access to an otherwise accommodating park. The park itself is large enough and built to withstand a proportionate amount of wear not just caused from skateboards but also by scooters and bikes. The park is made of concrete and metal, both durable and resistant to damage from skateboards, scooters, and bikes. It is large enough to accommodate bike and scooters without impeding skateboarders and themselves. In this day and age even skateboarders themselves frown on this unfortunate situation and are more than willing to share the park. The 'Feud' is over and it seems time to change this outdated ordinance. Help establish a new ordinance and repeal this archaic rule. Allow scooter and bike enthusiasts a chance to enjoy this amazing park as well.

When I heard this was open to the public instead of being farther back on the base, I made a point to stop by. It is right at the entrance, outside the security gates. There's a nice large parking lot, and the park has clearly been redone recently. The parking lot's new, there are walking paths, the planes are in excellent shape and nicely displayed. Plus, there's a very nice shelter house, and a midsize playground. Well worth a visit just as a park if you live in the area. Anyone who likes aviation and is anywhere nearby, within an hour or two anyway, should come check it out. I was very impressed and will come back someday even though I do not live nearby.

Since then, it has piqued my interest which is why I stopped by! "Arthur Smith was so nutty about flying that his Fort Wayne friends named him "Birdboy." In 1910, when Arthur was only 19, he built and flew his own plane from a Fort Wayne golf course. It crashed, but Birdboy didn't mind, and he kept flying (and crashing) until he was one of the top stunt pilots in America."

I ran the marathon this year, choosing to do Fort 4 Fitness because of it being a flat course and…read moreit was the cheapest marathon in Indiana. These are my learnings: -Fort 4 Fitness hosts four races that morning: marathon, half marathon, 10k, and 4-miler. Each race starts at a different time, though there will be an overlap with the running groups. -The marathon was a two-loop course, which I'll admit was not fun as I began the second loop to run through the exact same course. The loop takes you from downtown to a golf course to neighborhoods until you reach downtown again, ending at the baseball stadium. -Running through the neighborhoods is the most enjoyable. The community does a nice job supporting the runners/keeping them distracted. You can tell this is a fun day for everyone, not just the runners. Would I run the marathon again? No, but I would recommend this race most for a 10k runner or a half marathoner, especially if you don't want to fight the crowds as you do with larger races.

A car ran into a bicyclist!…read more And now you have it. The big scoop! What you will not find in the newspaper's story, or even the event's website. Someone had sneakily pulled their car along side of a parking area. Then covered the driver's side with bails of hay. When the bicyclist came by the car jumped up on the curb and stopped him from rolling over on the sidewalk (see pictures for proof). This first event had over 1000 people register. The newspapers where out in force, along with the promoters of this first event. There is not much more that can be added. Except that five years ago. If someone rode an old bicycle. They where called a bum. Nowadays they are in the height of fashion. *YELP* Could you please "unblock" me? So this way I can upload these pics on this event. I'm fat. Over the last year this statement is no longer a subjective opinion, my pants tell me I'm…read morefat. So, I've made it a point to be more active and start creaking the ole bones again. I've driven past the entrance for this park for a year and had good intentions of stopping. Today I ran into the one neighbor who doesn't hate me, and he told me I can get to the hiking trails from my neighborhood. Cool! I charged up my 1st gen iPod (seriously), dug out my pig wrestling sneakers (seriously), and my fanny pack (seriously) and off I went. Mengerson is owned and cared for by Acres Land trust since 1989. There are approximately 32 acres of forest and hiking trails are about 1.2 miles. This time of year the trails are ridiculously muddy, so I'm glad I wore my pig shoes. There were several points I just went off trail to avoid standing water, and since the trees and undergrowth is still bare, it wasn't too bad. The hike itself is easy and suitable for just about anyone. There can be deer seen (according to my neighbor) and all sorts of bird species. There are a few neat side trails. You are never far from housing, but it's still quiet (my iPod died in the middle of Bel Biv Devo) and once the trees fill in I imagine it's even more peaceful. Now that I know I can walk to a trailhead and not have to drive and park, I can say I'll be back frequently till the mosquitos drive me away. This is a neat little patch of forest and I highly recommend it. Plus its a pokestop for the three people who still play PokemonGo.

I don't live in the area and decided to take my sister out for a lesson. We had not ridden…read morerecently, quite out of shape. The lesson was fun while be challenging. They know their horses and are able to match horses to riders for a safe but fun lesson. The lesson horses where not beat up and seemed to be happy in their job. I would recommend this barn.

My family and I had tickets to a play called "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" at…read morenearby Fort Wayne Civic Theatre. Since we came early, we decided to hang out at the beautiful Freimann Square park. It has an absolutely beautiful fountain. It was very relaxing to watch and sit by the fountain on a gorgeous sunny day. The park also has a large statue of General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, who ordered the creation of the original fort on the site that eventually became the City of Fort Wayne. Again, its a beautiful park and if your in the area or are visiting the nearby Arts United Center, you may want to relax at Freimann Square.
