During a brief trip to the Fort Wayne area, I got the chance to stop by Promenade Park while out with a friend of mine. Promenade Park opened in 2019 as the first phase in Fort Wayne's Riverfront Fort Wayne project. Main features include Canoeing and Kayaking, a very cool fountain, games, a pavilion, picnic tables, an amazing playground, a snack bar, a stage, trails and, of course, water. The park is relatively small at 4 acres, but they really have laid it out beautifully and they have quite a bit here. Promenade Park is a KultureCity.org Sensory InclusiveTM Certified Venue. Accessibility features include accessibility to the trails, kayak/canoe launch, main entrance, picnic areas, playground (ground level play features), an accessible restroom, accessible signage, accessible swings, accessible water fountains/bottle fillers, and more. Accessible parking is available along Wells Street (adjacent to the pavilion). The garden area is designed specifically to provide visual and sensory separation. There's tactile ribbon embedded in the pavement throughout the park (this helps people who are blind/low-vision). Pathways are extra wide and can accommodate multiple wheelchairs. Honestly, I was blown away here and so thrilled I took the time to stop and check this out. I'm likely planning an event in Fort Wayne soon, and there's no question I'll be returning to this beautiful urban park. read more

What a great park to watch an event, take a stroll or frequent a vendor. Lots of easy walk paths and seating. Things to do if you plan in advance like corn hole and ping pong. Water play areas to entertain kids. Lots of beautiful scenery to take in. The park is very clean and safe. Go check it out!! read more

WOW! Promenade Park has taken Fort Wayne to a whole other level. My family enjoys visiting Fort Wayne in general because there are so many family-friendly things to do there. But our last trip, in the spring of 2021, was our first time visiting Promenade Park. We were blown away, and super excited that we had even more reasons to visit the area. The addition of this park has truly made Fort Wayne a destination location. First and foremost, for people with young children: The playground is amazing! It is really designed for kids of all ages and abilities. My kids loved the playground structure, because there were lots of things to climb on and slide down. There's a merry-go-round that lots of kids gravitated to, and there are also outdoor musical instruments to play with. Even just walking around this park is fun. There are bridges that are up in the trees that make you feel like you're in a treehouse. The walkways on the bridges are wide and easily accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. From these bridges, you can see a great view of downtown Fort Wayne. If you follow the bridges around from the playground, you'll cross over onto the other side of the river. That's where you'll find a cafe, swinging benches, and lots of tables to sit at. There is also a splash pad for kids that looks like a little modern creek, ping pong tables, foosball and lots of public art statues. Promenade Park is built around the river, which means that you can also go kayaking and canoeing here. You can rent kayaks and canoes (as well as paddle boards for standing paddling) from Fort Wayne Outfitters. As of 2021, the city is still adding features to the park, so I'm curious to see what other things we'll enjoy the next time we visit. read more

Beautiful park. Such a nice addition to Fort Wayne. Really enjoyed walking around on a nice night-so many delicious restaurants nearby within walking distance. Enjoyed watching boats pass by and had fun on the giant swings. Very pretty vibes, relaxing, and a great way to spend an evening. Will def go again. read more

I came to visit Fort Wayne for a few days and was pleasantly surprised to find such a great urban park close to downtown! There were plenty of points of interest. One of my favorites was the treetop walkway where their was an elevated walkway closer to the tree top offering views of the river. I also enjoyed the porch swings! It was not very busy on a Monday night, but it appears to be a great venue for an outdoor concert. There was a neat playground as well as other play areas for kids to enjoy. Definitely worth stopping to check this out. read more

What an incredible addition to downtown Fort Wayne! I had been following the development on social media an Promenade Park lives up to the hype. I visited on a Sunday morning and while there were no organized events or activities, there was a good crowd there enjoying the sunshine and exploring the park. I "ooh"ed and "ahh"ed at every turn. Ping pong tables and cornhole (bring your own equipment, though), fountains, sculptures, tables and chairs, a beer garden, pavilion for live music and events, pedestrian bridge, treetop boardwalk, playground, swinging benches...simply incredible. So many spots to sit and enjoy the view and stay awhile. I saw families, couples, bicylists, runners, dogs and more out enjoying the space. I highly recommend a visit here! read more

Fort Wayne has outdone themselves here! This park is spectacular! Just amazing on multiple levels. The small splash pad, the adult swings, the River view, the food trucks, the aesthetic, pure beauty!! I've made it my business to tour Fort Wayne this summer. I'm ever so glad I did! This park is beautiful and has so many activities! There are table top games, a splash pad, kids playground with cool equipment, canoeing, kayaking, areas to lounge, an event center, and nearby brewery cafe and eateries. The day we visited there was a race and they used the walkway above the water for part of it. You can tell a lot of thought and art went into the making of this. AWESOME PARK! They have ping ball tables, foosball tables, corn hole. Plenty of dining options. A cool bridge, and so much more fun stuff. We did see people swimming in the river which I thought was weird but it was safe and we saw no homeless people. It was very clean, and they have a lot of seating for everyone! read more

Promenade Park - Adult size slide? Why not? - Parks Near Me - Fort Wayne, Indiana

I really love this park! It has so many different sections and areas suited for all. I went during the summer when it first opened and they had the splash pad for kids and a small river running through the park. They have tables and chairs throughout the park and I love the steep steps leading up to the water. Makes perfect for sitting down and studying. It's a great place to go walk or simply to relax. Their playground is so neat! I love that it's so clean and that there will usually be staff walking around making sure its maintained. Now that winter is approaching the water was taken out of the man made river but they have burners outside which you can sit next to!! Its a great place and I love their moving swings. Next time I'll post pictures. I'm so happy they made this park, it feels really safe too, compared to other places in town. read more
