Specialties
We are located in Concan, TX smack dab in the middle of the Texas Hill Country. Directly across the Frio River is Garner State Park, the most visited state park in Texas. People of all ages love the refreshing spring-fed waters of the Frio during the Spring and Summer months. When it gets too cold to swim, a quiet stroll down the river's edge is always nice and of course, you can fish year round.
Something is always going on in South Texas, the Hill Country and the Frio Canyon. You can find old-time country jam sessions breaking out on the Court House lawn or run on over to the local dance halls to hear Texas' most popular bands. Sight-seeing is one of the best forms of entertainment around. While you're out there, don't forget to stop at the local restaurants and antique shops.
A top ranked championship golf course is only 5 minutes away from Parkview Riverside. Local fairs and festivals also dot the calendar year round. It's a great feeling to mosey back to the campground after a day of golfing or exploring the Texas Hill Country.
Being able to enjoy all of what the local area has to offer is made better only by the ability to lounge in the comfort of your own RV. There is plenty of room between sites for your slide-outs so you won't feel crowded. Whether you are staying short term or long term, Parkview is truly the place to be!
History
Established in 2001.
The park opened March 1, 2001 with 43 full hookup sites on the banks of the beautiful Frio River, directly across the river from Garner State Park, the most popular State Park in Texas. Parkview has since expanded to its current capacity of 95 full hookup sites, a covered storage area and additional uncovered storage area. The modern bathhouse and laundry building was completed in 2004 and has been cited by many customers as the best and cleanest they've ever seen. In 2004, a 6500 sq.ft. activity center opened with full kitchen, TV lounge, exercise equipment and game room for kids as well as a full service convenience store with groceries, RV supplies, and propane. These additions have been very popular for RV club rallies and seasonal Winter Texans. In 2006 The Golf Club of Texas - Concan, opened a professional level golf course just 5 miles away and offers our Winter Texans a very popular winter all you can play package.
Meet the Business Owner: Doug S.
I was born here in 1946 while my father was overseas as a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II. We moved to North Texas when my father returned from the war, and I never lived here again until I retired after a career with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. My wife and I moved back here in 1998 after my retirement from USDA and, with my father, began clearing ground for the Park. Together, we built 2 houses and the RV Park on mother's old home place, and opened the park in 2001. My parents had been RVers for 20 years and my wife and I for 18 years when we began construction on the park in 1998. I attended Ohio State University in the 1960's prior to going to work for USDA and lived and worked in 10 different states prior to returning to my birthplace and building the park with my father. My parents and my wife have since passed away, but this Park remains labor of love for me and our staff. Our staff and customers are my new family, and I greatly appreciate all of you.
