When we reported this to management, nothing was done--no follow-up emails, no communication, and no visible safety measures put in place to protect residents. We used the gym regularly, and the facility itself was nice. However, there were multiple occasions where we saw unhoused individuals using the showers. This raises serious concerns about building security--how are non-residents accessing a gated community? Maintenance was also handled poorly. Sections of the complex were frequently closed with only two days' notice, whether for parking lot repaving or hallway painting. This lack of advance notice made it difficult to plan, especially for residents with pets or work schedules. On top of this, my partner's car was towed, costing us $500, despite the parking permit being clearly visible on the floor of the vehicle. When we raised this with management, again, nothing was done. We were even told at the tow yard that this has happened to other residents before. If this is a recurring issue, it's unclear why management hasn't taken steps to prevent it. Overall, the price did not match the experience, and the lack of responsiveness and security made living here incredibly frustrating.

The laundry room is an absolute health hazard. Dust, grime, spiderwebs, mold, and dirt everywhere. It's clear it hasn't been cleaned in months. For over 5 months, there was no porter and whoever was supposed to be in charge just let it go. This isn't just gross it's dangerous, especially for families with kids or anyone with respiratory issues. Photos attached show just how bad things have gotten. Dirty machines, mold inside washers, filthy windows, layers of dust. We deserve better than this level of neglect. If you're considering moving in do your research first.

The location however lost a star for me, there's a bus station right across the street and a parking lot next to the building, there are lots of noises and homeless people at night wandering, so it gets a bit disturbing at night. The area is not the safest, however, this complex does a great job with the garage being only opened to those who have a fob/key. It should be noted that whenever we lodged a complaint about the neighbors I mentioned, the front office was always quick and responsive, and the maintenance team has been as well, usually out at our apartment the next day to fix whatever issue we have. The fitness center leaves a lot to be desired, as they only have a few machines and no barbells at all. The dumbbell set only goes up to 50lbs. as well, and one of the 35lbs dumbbells is missing. It's pet friendly, and they provide waste bags for dogs which is nice. Yes, it's pricey to live here, but you have to know that going into it. It's unfair to the complex to move in and then complain about the cost of everything when you knew beforehand that that was the case. All in all, it's been a pleasurable experience with the green scenery, beautiful trees, and our lovely apartment with its vaulted ceilings. All of our friends and family love coming over, and we love hosting. I would recommend this complex to anyone.

The hidden fees were ridiculous. They say everything is included but quote a base rent and then over charge for everything. Both boys and myself believed that a 12 mos lease was signed but at 9 months we are getting notifications that it is expiring. I am trying to contact them incessantly...with no response. I emailed multiple times, called every number (oh yeah there are multiple numbers that nobody ever answers) and my son is going to the leasing office which always has a sign that says they are out showing apartments. I finally got ahold of someone after almost 3 weeks and they said no problem they can extend the 2 mos. He told me that the rent would be more that month because it charged daily but then would go back to original amount. Of course that didn't happen and the rent went up $225 and not surprising nobody will respond. When they are actually supposed to move out the amount due was incorrect and they were being charged for full months of parking, internet, mail etc and nobody would change the amounts. I asked that a late fee be waived since I emailed multiple times before the rent was due and they didn't fix it and the leasing manager said he would "make a note" until I heard from some. Again, they didn't fix it and charged a $50 late fee. Upon move out they are charging $400 for repainting of entire apartment, $220 for trash removal (but apartment was clean) and multiple other charges. One room would require repainting but that is due to the bathtub getting stuck on and running the hottest water possible for hours. They filed a maintainace report right away but it took many hours for anyone to come and there for the steam caused damage to the walls. I never write bad reviews because everyone has an off day but this is the ABSOLUTE worst customer service and shady business i think I have ever seen. DO NOT MOVE HERE! THERE ARE PLENTY OF BETTER OPTIONS NEARBY.

Keep in mind the issue is all over the apartment. There is nails sticking out from the carpet, anytime I walk barefoot my feet end up black and sticky, I had the get rid of all my white socks. It's literally so disgusting. I expressed that cleaning the carpet was not a solution this carpet needed to be replaced. She mentioned she would bring the issue up the ladder haven't heard back since, that was in March. The owners were wonderful. Everything was well taken care of. We moved in on a budget, and thankfully, the owners did not give us crazy rent increases every year. This was a big relief, because we moved from our previous two places because we got huge rent increase notices each tim our lease was up - which is common for San DIego, but not at the pines. :) The pines quiet and small and everyone really gets to know everyone. As a woman, I place a high value on having a personal sense of safety, which I definitely had. Also, there was ever any crime while we were there. They have a huge gate which is automatic and always stays closed which probably helped. I could leave my bedroom windows open in the summer and my car was always safe at night! The pines is just a really beautiful place. I don't think you can get much better in the area. I don't have any complaints.
