Just tired of the speeding it's gotten bad on all roads. See someone go down a side street at 80 mph and not a cop on site. I have been a resident and home owner in Parma for only 4 yrs, but in the time I have live here I have observed the diligence, dedication and professionalism of all our Parma Police Officers. I have had to call on them from time to time at my home and they were great in following up. Also on Halloween night patrolling on foot is a great asset in keeping our neighborhood safe.. I also want to thank one officer who pumped my gas for me because I am handicap and had been waiting a while for an attendant. Now that is a True public servant. Got pulled over on ridge rd... not for speeding but because I had a spare tire on. The cop said it looked weird. I said it's a spare tire smh. So he took my license and saw that I have my CDL. So he says to the other cop that pulled up behind me" don't worry he's got his cdl". What an fu**ing joke. Pull me over for having a spare tire on because I had gotten a flat the day prior. read more

I suffer from Bi Polar disorder. Because of the aforementioned, I'm prone to chronic anxiety with ensuing mania and panic attacks. I'm shrouded most often in irrational, impulsive behavior. Marked by extreme agitation, and libel speech it's most often misinterpreted as contempt for my fellow man. On separate occasions my distress has been met by understanding, and compassion by Parma officers responding to the concerns of the public. They are educated and follow protocol that protects and serves those with mental health issues such as my own. The PPD should be used as a model in which all other departments implement. Hats off to City Hall for their continued efforts to protect and care for its residents. Kudos to the Chief for doing an amazing job as the guiding hand responsible for such upstanding men and women. I opened my mailbox today and noticed a letter from Parma Police. Could it be destiny that the day I decide to make fun of the speed trap in the Rite Aid parking lot on Yelp that I get a speeding ticket? I always see the stupid speed trap and that creepy cop sitting by the dumpster. I am fully aware of the blinking lights that show when to slow down for school zones. This day, they were not blinking at the time of my ticket which was 12:48. I am going to drive by tomorrow and have a chat with this "officer". What do they do if somebody is riding a bicycle over 20? And I don't mean to offend anybody from Parma. I just really want to know where all of these ticket dollars are going. It is not to city improvements. I know that the cop who hides behind a dumpster all day receives a decent salary. I wonder if he is going to be mad when I come by the dumpster to speak with him tomorrow. I hope I don't blow his cover! He is like the creature/monster in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive that pops out from behind the dumpster. What a joke. At least do something cool for the city with all of this money you are robbing from people. I cannot wait for my hearing date. I will have my justice. The police should be here to protect and serve us, the public, but all they do is harass us with photo tickets and pull us over to make us pay their salaries. Don't we get taxed enough as citizens? Its awful that you can get a $200 ticket because some one caught you speeding on camera. Worthless. Makes me feel like the police are all just money hungry predators that only want to harass people. I should be able to write my $200 ticket off on my taxes, or better yet give me an option Mr Police officer of if I want to be detained for an hour or pay the ticket. I bet if we as citizens had the right to request to be detained instead of paying a fine we would see less traffic stops because the lazy police wouldn't want to sit with us for an hour. I live in a double house came home to find the drug dealers up stairs in my place called parma police out to my house the cop don't even listen to me told him they were in bed room ransack my thing he asked was anything missing I said no they were in the act. I was pulled over by a parma police officer and talk about petty. I was very respectful, taking off my sunglasses to make eye contact and waiting until he was at my bike before opening my back pack to get license & insurance. I was riding my motorcycle on a 93 degree day without helmet, 6 weeks short of not a "novice". I posed no threat or harm to anyone, no possibility of property damage, no crime. I am a 60 year old Woman, parma homeowner with a perfect driving record and never in any trouble. You think the cop would give me a warning and a slap on the hand? Oh no, a $160 ticket, $45 which is for not wearing a helmet. The balance was court costs(I didn't go to court) and funds for the "indigent, drug & alcohol programs & funds".Wow, what a joke. A simple "warning" would have been FAIR. Too bad I don't have a relative in the dept., had a sticker on my plate as I have witnessed those receiving only a verbal warning. I thought officers were trying to promote good community relations. Ha. Sorry to all the descent, fair and good cops out there. It only takes one bad experience like this to make good residents change their support. It's so unfair. read more

True to form Parma PD still retains the reputation for the most disreputable PD. Setting up a speed trap during rush hour on Sprague Road and pulling over admittedly the slowest moving individual? Other cars whizzing by and the Motorcycle pulls out of the Church parking lot with lights flashing and here I am stunned thinking is he really going to give me a ticket for going 42 miles an hour in a 35 mile zone with all these cars passing me? Guess what he did except he wrote the ticket and recorded on the ticket that it was 50! I have a few questions __ is it normal operating procedure to round up? Seems that is falsifying a legal document. Another question, is it normal for the police to leave and go stand in the nearby empty field and fiddle around with their speed detector for over 10 minutes and then come back to my vehicle and flash it in front of me stating it said 40 something __ guess what still not 50! So, trust the Police? Really? Where is the Honesty? Teach our children they can turn to the Police to keep them safe? Not in Parma... read more

Unbelievable this dept is! I got a speeding ticket, literally right after I got injured and completely forgot about it. Not only have I been out of work since March because of Covid, but I also don't get the perks of unemployment. It hasn't been 30 days yet and I get some BS threatening letter for a warrant for my arrest over a speeding ticket??!! When your stupid city goes from 35-25 in a matter of seconds. Not only does my better half work for the city of Parma, I also contribute every year to the police dept, which I will no longer do because of your excessive scare tactics. You wonder why people are getting aggressive with law enforcement, this is a very fine example! I have a clean record and have been a tax paying, law biding citizen and instead of you sending a reminder of paying the ticket, you send me a warrant for my arrest!! This morning I was pulled over on my way to Parma senior high where I work as a special needs assistant, officer Markle claims I was doing 50 in a 35, suspiciously the car in front of me pulled over to the curb before I did and when he saw that the officer detained me he sped away as fast as he could, mind you it is very dark at the hour I leave for work so could he have taken radar on the wrong car? possibly? was I going more than 35 ? For sure but I can tell you nowhere near the 50 he says he clocked me at, but besides all of that, when he came to my window I showed him my Parma schools badge that clearly is marked special education, when I told him ( I was very honest ) that I was running a bit late but not enough to make me late but I was concerned because I have to do my share to get the kids unpacked and ready for their day, even after he knew all if this and knowing that this stop was really going to make me late his words were well hold on until I check somethings out, are you kidding me? Other municipalities would have let you go with a warning, the Parma Police are notorious for being this way they leave that stigma on our community they are one big reason people are leaving this community in droves than to ad insult to injury he made me wait than comes back and hands me a citation, I guess that quota that feeling of power was more important than having a little bit of sympathy for someone who's just trying to get to work helping other people's children, guess that's why I'm glad I do what I do I know the difference of having empathy, a little goes along way I never could imagine purposely holding someone up having the knowledge he had as to what I do and who I take care of, but I guess what else was I suppose to expect, that couple hundred dollars he made on me was the most important thing, and nothing or nobody else way to go read more

First time since 1988 that I left car keys on passenger seat after an elderly women with a cane startled me by asking if I smoked! at Parmatown gas station. I told her "no" and as she walked away I bumped my door closed at a Parmatown gas station. I do not know why she reminded me of a leprechaun but she did as she had come out of nowhere! The gas station manager called the Parma police and with 10 minutes they were there and got my keys out of my car safely. I really do appreciate anything they can do for the community. I am just glad the small woman did not point a gun at me and rob me! read more

Clearly one of the most petty police departments in Ohio. They move in packs of two cars or two motorcycles scanning constantly for....not crimes!!!....but people without seatbelts on, poor use of blinkers, lane changes when there are only two cars withing 4 blocks in either direction, and of course, the usual and customary 2 miles over the speed limit. I've been driving for over 50 years. In the past twenty years, I've rcd two tickets.....both in Parma (and I don't even live there!) and not for speeding! One for no seatbelt. I pointed out to the officer that I don't have to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle, so what is the purpose of a law requiring seatbelt use when there are SIX airbags surrounding me while doing 25 mph. Petty, Petty, petty.....cut from the same cloth as Lyndale and Cuyahoga Falls. These towns don't need half their payroll to actually keep the town safe from criminals, and there are plenty of those. read more
