10/10. This was such a fun experience. It reall felt like a cool day in the jungle. We went during the week in May. Feeding the birds was well worth the extra $3. Getting to hold the baby birds in the nursery was a unique experience. They were playful and sweet. If you want a souvenir picture I suggest not paying in advance for it if your going in couple/group. The picture we got was a single $45 versus the paying double the ticket price per person in advance. We then had lunch at the cafe wich was really good. We came here, on a whim. We saw it on a tourist pamphlet and decided to try it. The drive here, is outside of the main town, though a narrow road, that leads up the mountain. The driveway is steep, so be careful. Once there, the parking lot is a little small, however we found a spot pretty easily. You enter up a ramp, pay at the check In booth. Here you have a chance to buy the nectar feeding tickets, $3 each. I would 100% recommend this, if you want to be up close and personal with some birds. With military discount, nectar feed, and taxes for 2, it was about $72. Once inside the park, you walk trails, seeing the beautiful birds, some on posts, hanging out as you walk by. There are signs on some of the posts, don't feed/pet as you enter and walk around. You get close to the birds and plenty of photo ops. Some birds are in their cages, some just on posts as you walk around. Part of the tour you get awesome smoky Mountain View's. Soon your at the feeding/petting section. You walk into the area, there are still signs and rules, don't pet the ones that say no petting or feeding on their posts. When touring this area there's plenty of birds to pet, pick up, hold, feed. The feed costs a quarter, so bring some, or a few small bills 1s or 5s to buy feed. Some parrots here are loving and friendly. Once you're done here you continue the tour, shortly you'll be at the Nectar feeding area. The staff gives you a small cup of nectar and explains what will happen. Once the door is open, be prepared to be swarmed by small beautiful birds. They swoop in landing on your arms, shoulders, head. I think I had at one time about 6-7. This lasts about 10 minutes. Once you leave there you continue the tour seeing more beautiful birds and the nursery, then end at the gift shop/deli before heading out. Overall would recommend coming here if you love parrots, and birds. read more

Had an amazing time visiting Parrot Mountain during our stay in Pigeon Forge. Beautiful, serene place. The grounds are stunningly beautiful. The employees were so nice and accommodating, took time to talk to you and let you hold the birds! Best of all some of the parrots talked!!! That was just incredible hearing them say "hello" and "hi" We met the owner Ms. Isabel who was incredibly nice and sweet. She gave us a little history about the place and how her late husband got a vision from God to do this! All in all a wonderful place to visit!! read more

MUST SEE. Absolute MUST SEE. This place is phenomenal, staff is so friendly. The garden and park is such a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding areas. The ability to hold the birds for as long as you like is so fun! We enjoyed being able to go through the areas as many times as we wanted. Some birds were singing to us, some talking. You can just tell these birds are cared for. The handler Georgia was amazing and she really made us have an excelllent experience. We loved how family run the place was, and all the faith touches throughout. It was beautiful experience and we genuinely. My husband, me and my two kids.. This was definitely worth the price of admission. So many beautiful tropical birds there all with different personalities. There was a cockatoo hanging upside down and squawking. There was a macaw that would wave to you. If you like tropical birds this is a place you need to visit. read more

Had an encounter with their mini bird experience in gatlinburg along the popular strip. Went inside after a worker stated we could hold the birds. I took my little cousins inside and another gentleman told me I have to agree to the sign which states they aren't responsible for the birds biting or injuring. They also stated no photos or videos. The whole "experience" was a tourist trap to get pictures to sell for inflated prices. Not only were their birds biting at my cousins but they also appeared very distressed. In the rest of the store they had boxes with more birds for purchase. The whole experience was very odd and left me and my cousins feeling creeped out. After doing some digging apparently their actual location located at 1471 McCarter Hollow Rd is another tourist attraction where you can see their "flock". In fact they do not have proper treatment of these creatures and many reviewers state the birds are injured, missing eyes or sickly. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH. I will not be taking my business anywhere near this. read more

I was nervous coming here because I wasn't sure if the birds were exploited, but my FIL really loves birds so he wanted to come LOL Birds: Plenty of exotic birds from South America and Africa that are typically not at your local zoo. They seemed to be well taken care of (plenty of food, large cages, their cages were clean, and they were not cramped in their cages with too many birds). This place is up a mountain, so there were plenty of hills as you walk through the bird exhibits. I believe they offer a golf cart experience for those that have mobility issues, but I'm not sure if that comes with an extra cost. Bird feeding: There are 2 experiences you can participate in bird feeding. One of the experience you just have to have quarters to purchase seeds for the birds (25 cents). You can feed parrots (older kids/adults)or smaller birds (for kids). I had a great time feeding a smaller bird who was very cuddly and friendly! Nectar feeding requires an additional purchase at the ticket counter. You enter this large caged room, and someone hands you a nectar cup. The birds know the drill. As soon as you come in they will FLOCK to you! Be aware for those that are skittish. read more

Late post- (went in late Aug 2024) What is there to say about Parrot Mountain? Basically, you are in a mountain surrounded by beautiful landscape and different species of colorful birds! Highly interactive and you get to hold and feed several. (For an extra cost but won't break the bank) Be prepared to walk up steep hills as this is on the top of a mountain! Some of the employees are shy and seem very timid. There could have been more explanation on how to hold the birds and while holding them, the staff could have shared some fun facts etc. I think in some instances it became a bit awkward. Even with the bird feeding, it was just a bit odd. I get it, I'm shy at times and not the most social. Although, if this is a paid experience and there is bare minimum of asking for an picture and then just walking away keeping to yourself, it kind of takes away from the experience. Definitely needs a bit if extroverted friendly vibes here bit nonetheless, this place is a DREAM. And is absolutely beautiful. Still recommend! read more

Don't get me wrong, the birds were great to see! They've got some great parrots and other exotic birds. My issue is with the terrain and it being incredibly incredibly steep. It's really not safe for the elderly or for strollers. We had both and there was no one to help and the walkways had little support, most not having handrails for people to hold on to. They have golf carts you can rent for $60 which is the only thing steeper than the walk up to the entrance. The drive up was also tough and I wondered if our rental would make it up the hill. The price of $34 per ticket was too much for what the experience offered. I wouldn't go again. read more

We got here right when they opened and spent some time walking around the area, looking at all the different birds. They were absolutely beautiful! The main thing we were excited about was getting to hold the parrots, which ended up being the highlight of our visit. Before interacting with the birds, we took some fun photos with them perched on our arms. Some birds were super gentle, while others had a bit more personality, which made it even more entertaining! We also got to feed them some seeds. Such a fun experience. Julia, one of the staff members, was so kind and helpful. She answered all our questions and was very patient and friendly, which really made our visit even better. We truly enjoyed this place and highly recommend it! My grannies gone wild group went today and we LOVED it! Even the one who wasn't a fan of birds!! It was such a unique experience and the whole park was beautiful. It's like you're walking through a tropical paradise! It was a really warm day but perfect because all the trees shaded the walkways wonderfully!! We strongly recommend you pay the extra $3 for the nectar to feed the birds. It's a lot of fun. When you walk through the area where there are a lot of birds perched on the colorful posts, you can pay 25 cents for some bird seed. The birds take the seeds out of your hands so gently. This was a very cool experience but not one I would do again. I loved seeing all the different birds and holding them, and I loved the Lorikeet experience! However, the birds in the first area where you get to hold them aren't very nice and the workers weren't very helpful in getting them off of us. They also had a photo you could buy which was $40 for a fridge magnet. It overall wasn't a worthwhile experience for us but great to do once. read more

Went there with our granddaughters expecting to spend a couple of hours and left 4 hours later. Our visit was made even better by a golf cart tour with a wonderful woman named Teri. Upon the recommendation of many friends and family members who live near and been to the Pigeon Forge area we decided to visit Parrot Mountain and Gardens.  It was out in the country which made for a beautiful drive. The parking is free however there should probably be more handicap parking spaces.  There is a lot of walking on very steep hills even to get to the ticket booth. If you are the least bit handicapped you may want to bring a wheelchair or an assistive device although most of it  is all nicely black topped or paved the hills are pretty extreme if you have mobility issues. It is a beautiful and spiritual experience from start to finish but it can be very confusing if you are not lucky enough to find  one very  helpful  employee. After witnessing him helping others and him helping us in multiple areas I asked for his name to thank him personally we found out his name was Ryan.  You could tell he truly cared about the birds and those who were visiting all the while helping to make the visit the best experience possible.  Others were there to care for the the birds but other than Ryan very few were helpful understanding the experience and how to handle the birds. When you get there you go to the ticket counter and tell them what kind of experience you would like to have, as in do you want to feed the birds, do you want to walk the tour or ride each thing is an added cost, for the 3 of us it would have been an added $60 putting the cost at nearly $200 so we opted to walk which half way through I regretted. There are restrooms available. There is a little snack area with a souvenir store too. We truly enjoyed it, especially the nursery room and would definitely do it again if we return to the area. read more

We have visited Pigeon Forge several times and unfortunately for us we did not find Parrot Mountain until now. What a magical place!! Sharlene is an absolute doll and made sure we were well taken care of. Everything about Parrot Mountain is beautiful, from the drive up the mountain, of course the birds are the stars of the show, but the gardens are beautifully kept, and we love the scriptures along the way, also they have a top tier nativity. Many people that aren't experienced with birds might believe that this park is wonderful and beautiful because of the variety of birds and their beauty. However, I have been at parrot mountain about 3-4 times. I myself have had birds of my own and from that I can tell you that the birds that are on sticks being held by everyone and their mothers are not okay. With missing feathers and skinny because they are forced to interact with people everyday which causes an overload of stress to them and their well being. This place might look all nice and rainbows but it's just profiting off putting babies in so much harm and stress. read more

I am absolutely blown away by this place. My other half told me about it and we decided to go for his birthday. He's a bird person, I am not because I never had any experience with them in the past. The grounds and landscape of Parrot Mountain was BEAUTIFUL. The prayer gardens made me feel like I was in a totally different place. Absolutely breathtaking, I can't express that enough. Stunning and IYKYK. We were lucky enough to have Shar walk with us. She ran the place and knew everything about every bird. She took the time to handle the birds with us, answer questions, and got them to talk and play with us. You were able to hold the birds and pet them and I never handled birds before so I was uncertain with how I would feel. But I felt so comfortable with them and had the best time. Everyone who works here are friendly and incredible. You MUST PAY THE EXTRA FEW DOLLARS TO FEED THE BIRDS. They fly all over you and it was hilarious. Trust me on this!! And bring quarters for the feed machines. I can't wait to go back. It probably is my new favorite place. Book your trip and bring your camera. You're going to love it. And thank you, Shar!!! I've been coming to Tennessee every year with my kids for over 12 years. And this is our first time visiting Parrot Mountain after many suggestions from people to visit it did not disappoint! The birds are beautiful my kids were in just pure awe getting to hold the parrots. The place was well kept all staff we encountered was so friendly. This was the hidden gem of our trip. We knew the national park would be great, but this place is a must see. I am very big into animal welfare and am always nervous to go to places like this because I don't like to see animals be stressed or mistreated. I dont LOVE that they have some of the very exotic birds that look like they were captured from the jungle secluded in cages, but all the enclosures were very well kept and most the birds seems content enough. All of the experiences were so great for feeding a petting the small parrots, to feeding the Laurels, and holding the babies in the hatchery the whole experience was super cool. We liked it more than the kids did to be honest. The grounds are beautiful and it really feels like you're in a magical bird land. If you don't like birds, don't go. read more

This was a great place to visit with or without kids. It was a beautiful walkthrough on the mountainside with exotic birds from all over the world. Many of the birds are just sitting on perches on the walkways, no cage. There is even an area where you could feed the birds and hold them. There was a little house where the baby birds are kept. 12/22/2024 to 01/02/2025 Animal cruelty at the Ramsey Hotel and Convention Center, 3230 Parkway, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863. We had the most unfortunate and horrible experience while staying at the Ramsey Hotel and Convention Center. In their lobby was a glass cage with a single lonely parrot which was tormented day and night by guest at the hotel. Adults and children would repeatedly bang and tap on the glass cage. It was bad enough it was isolated from other parrots or birds but to be tormented day after day for who knows how long this atrocity has gone on! All just to advertise for "Parrot Mountain and Garden of Eden" Well I can assure you this poor bird was in NO Garden of Eden! And who knows how many other birds they have placed in other locations like this, it's appalling and inhumane! I have reported this to the proper authorities and hope that others will do the same. They advertise quite a bit around Sevierville and Pigeon Forge with their Parrot van, gift shop at the Islands of Pigeon Forge, restaurant installations - so it's not exactly a huge secret. But I know the cynical expectation is a nature park with a bird every half mile or so. Not so at all! There are parrots everywhere... open air, in cages, inside a secret garden, the feeding area, etc. Even before you buy tickets, there are parrots hanging around, squawking at you! The staff are all very pleasant - whether it's helping you get a bird on your arm at the feeding area, or coaxing a caged parrot (with a peanut) so we can get a better view! We can readily see they are expanding their Nature Walk area - mostly toucans for now. It was a little rainy on our visit. Perhaps that kept the crowds down a bit. Other reviews have commented about the steep driveway... they are not kidding! It is a bit pricey, but it's a unique experience. We didn't do any photos or partake of the snack shop though, so I can't comment on that. read more

It was fun enough but that place is a one and done for us, especially at that price. After so many birds, it all starts to be kind of repetitive. It's all straight up a very steep hill walking the whole time, so if you are extremely aggravated and non tolerant of really hot weather, I wouldn't visit in the summer time unless you're in the mood for parrot viewing with a side of heat stroke. read more

We absolutely loved this place. Our kids are big animal lovers, so this was right up their alley. Very interactive. Birds literally on perches without cages the instant you walk up. Held many birds. Even fed some nectar in an enclosure. Highly recommend paying the 3$ to do this. They swarm you, it's so fun. Even had a baby bird area that you could visit and hold the babies. Definitely worth the money. Only "downfall" is the property is on very steep terrain. Make sure you have a vehicle that can handle it. Even the parking lot is on a steep grade. I have been going to Parrot Mountain at the Island for several years to take pictures of my kids to put on the fridge. I have 5 or 6 already. Each time I have taken a video of this while they take the picture-and then I buy 2 or 3 pictures. Today a short black haired man behind the counter yelled- "Sir, you can't take pictures in here! These are copyrighted! I'm going to have to ask you to remove that from your phone!" This was indoors but his voice could be heard everywhere-even outside. I left the store and do not plan to visit that store or Parrot Mountain- a place I have thoroughly enjoyed ever again. I might add that I am a local (Gatlinburg) and have recommended this place to friends and family and tourists for some time. That has changed. read more
