I was assured that my skin tone, hair texture, and ethnicity would not be an issue and was even told that my dark hair should respond well to the treatment. After completing six sessions, I saw little to no noticeable reduction in hair growth. Throughout the process, it became increasingly apparent that treating women with my skin tone and hair type was not something this business had significant experience with. Despite following the recommended treatment plan and attending multiple appointments, I did not receive the results I was promised. Because I was not seeing any improvement, I canceled my final two appointments. When I called, the receptionist apologized and stated that a manager would contact me. The manager did reach out, apologized for my experience, and told me she would speak with the laser technician to review my progress and treatment history. Unfortunately, after that conversation, I never heard back. There was no follow-up, no explanation, no concern for the lack of results, and no effort to address my experience. What disappointed me most was not only the lack of results, but the lack of customer care. Once my concerns were raised, communication completely stopped. It left me feeling as though the focus was on collecting payments rather than ensuring clients achieve successful outcomes. Based on my personal experience, I would encourage women of color, particularly African-American women with coarse hair, to thoroughly research a provider's experience treating diverse skin tones and hair types before committing to a treatment package. I had then politely walked up to checkout and kindly said "hello" and was responded to with a stern " hold on I need to figure this out" while the receptionist continued starring at her computer.
