The Partnachalm is beautifully situated and the trail leading up to it from the Klamm is not too difficult. The view is hard to beat and the beer tastes good after hiking through the Klamm and up to the Alm. We visited in Oktober and the sunny terrace was a pleasant and scenic place to rest.
The reception by the non-Bavarian waitress however, was less sunny and pleasant. Even though there were only four of us, she made a mistake with our drink order, became decidedly cranky, and acted like we were at fault. The "Mittagsmenu" is limited, but it was about 1:30 (13:30 Uhr), a time during which you have to make a special request to order a Brotzeit item, we didn't dare approach our unfriendly waitress with such a request and ordered warm dishes. The Schinkennudeln were unimaginative and at best a child size portion, the lentils were good, but came without even a single piece of bread, the Wiener Schnitzel with Kartoffelsalat was okay. All the food was terribly overpriced, especially since the Partnachalm really is not a remote Alm in the traditional sense, but rather a restaurant and easily accessible with supplies from Garmisch.
The location and view deserved five stars in our opinion, the hospitality, food and prices only one or two.
For our hike down we chose the trail to the iron bridge (Eiserne Bruecke) across the Klamm which is very steep but worth it for a view of the Klamm from above. read more
