Party City Clifton Commons has always been a great store. I had to attend a last minute masquerade party, and needed a mask. I called to confirm there were masks in stock. The cashier that answered my call was very nice, she transferred me to a lady that was nice enough to check, and tell me the aisle where the masks were located. Halloween is a very busy time so be prepared for a busier than usual store experience. I went on a Saturday evening. The parking lot was filled with Parents, and young children shopping for costumes. When I entered the store, the Halloween decor was amazing. I went straight to the isle where the mask was located. A very nice store employee gave me feedback, and input on the various masks, she even tried on the mask to give me an idea of how it will look. I was extremely appreciative, and pleased, such a very nice young lady. There was a bit of a wait to pay, but I did not mind. I knew going during the month of October, and on a weekend, I could expect a wait. Despite the store being super busy, it was not a bad experience. The cashier was very friendly, offered to answer my question, and thanked me for visiting Party City. I was very impressed by the genuine kindness, and the very nice attitude of each employee. I'll never be back to this store again! I only came here to purchase a letter for my daughter bed party! Once I was checking out they proceeded to charge me full price for a letter that I wanted filled with air only NOT helium! Mind you, I just purchased a letter at the Wayne New Jersey party city and they charge me a third of the price! The employee was rude and sent the manager out that proceeded to tell me that they charge the same amount for air or helium if they filled the letter. This information is false therefore, I will never be back to this store again.!! read more

They need better management at this location. You can't be always running low in helium when people expect to go to party city to get the balloons. There were 5 people inflating balloons this morning and this poor girl was left to handle the line and all the phone calls. I will make sure to take my money somewhere else. read more

I guess all party city stores are this bad. it's more of the number of registers that are open on a busy day and the people who work here who give this chain a bad name. seriously. can't find anyone to help me, buying balloons are a headache and standing on line and waiting for one register to take 20 people who come on line at the same time is a mess. come here when it just open because no one is here, but you only have 15 minutes before a rush of people start coming in. Worst Party City I have every been to! For the past couple of years no matter how polite and friendly I am I have always received nasty attitudes from the staff. Just the other day I called to see the status of my order as I was getting out of work early and the person on the phone was super annoyed that I had even called. She stated what time I had ordered them for and said that's when I will get them and hung up. I had no problem with waiting and was super nice when requesting the update so her attitude was unnecessary. Then when I went to pick up my order the guy behind the counter was unfriendly and rude. You can get what you need for hosting a party, or pretty much any event. Helium balloons, halloween costumes, as well as any other holidays theme accessories. Stores itself are messy and unorganized and staff is not the friendliest. Also there aren't ever enough registers when its time to pay and its very common for someone to get into an argument. However the prices here are right and its a one stop shop for you to cater a birthday or whatever you are planning so its fine for me as long as I know what to expect when coming here. read more

I can't even begin to explain how much I HATE coming here. I dont know if all party city's are like this but everytime I come, I can't stand it. This place is SO unorganized and they never have enough people working. The line is constantly long and there is just chaos every time. Also, today is august 4th. Came to get bridal shower supplies and I am told they got put away because they need to decorate and set up for Halloween. 1. It is STILL wedding season, why wouldn't you keep that stuff out. 2. Idiots. Called twice today for an item. Told them to hold for me. I was VERY specific with description and PRICE of item I was looking for. I drove 45 minutes to pick up my item only to see the WRONG item at more than DOUBLE the price I mentioned via phone. Needeless to say I am very disappointed that I have now wasted 1.5 hrs of my day and tolls and gas due to lack of detail orientation. Again, I was specific. It was a bad experience overall. I placed an order of 40+ different kinds of balloons 2 weeks ago. First of all, they never have good stock of merchandise. So they didn't have the number 7 balloon I needed. They told me to buy at another party city and come back to put helium in it. So when I got there to pick up the balloons, I asked if they could just put helium in the number balloon that I bought at the other party city. The cashier told me that I have to wait so I asked if she could talk to her manager. He came and talked to me. However he would not do it as there were other orders that people are waiting for which I understand, and I have to wait 45 minutes. Wow! Seriously for one balloon he can't do it. I explained that I have these 40+ balloons and I have to be at a party and you can't blow one out? So he blatantly asked OUT LOUD "Is everyone ok if I blow out her balloon?" OMG seriously?!?! What kind of manager are you? One customer had said, get her balloon so she can get out of here. Oh wow seriously? She doesn't know the story behind it to comment like that. Walked into this location today for 2 things balloons and candles for my sons birthday. Stood on line for 20 minutes for the 2 items. Only 2 cashiers ringing, while there was a manager in the front putting numbers in and seems to be giving approval for certain things. Nothing posted about a helium shortage. So I tell the gentleman at checkout I needed my balloons blown up for today. He tells me they can't be blown because there is a helium shortage. So I wasted time online for no reason, but the funny thing is there is someone blowing up someone else's balloons who was online at the same time I was. So I find it amusing that there is a helium shortage but other people are getting there balloons blown up. While they wait. Your customer service here is lacking. And as a store manager myself I find the communication was lacking here today. One associate is telling your customers there is a helium shortage and another associate is blowing up balloons for the customer that was in line before me. Really annoyed and dissatisfied with the way this was handle today. The last few times I have been here it's always something, but today was the last straw for me. I will go to target or the dollar store for birthday decorations going forward. read more

Awful. I ordered balloons for my graduation party on their website because they weren't available in store. I went to pick it up and the man was "looking" for it for 20 mins. I looked at the balloons that were inflated behind the counter and MY name was on them so I informed the man. I had already paid for them online when I made the order and they wanted me to pay AGAIN. I also ordered balloons to be shipped to my home because it wasn't available for pick up and one the receipt it said that they would be inflated for FREE. Then an associates told me that is a miscommunication and they do not inflate latex balloons for free. I also ordered a balloon banner that says "CONGRATS" when I hung them up at my party they didn't give me the "S" so my banner said "CONGRAT" The staff seemed to be extremely bothered and the manager kept saying the same thing (with an attitude) about how I was only supposed to be charged $1 when I ordered online and at pick-up pay the rest. I even showed my bank account where all the money was taken. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. It was a day where I was supposed to be happy because I graduated college and the staff and manager ruined my day with their unprofessionalism. Went in to order balloons for a party that is a month out. Waited by the balloons for 15 minutes before someone noticed we were standing there even though they were all chit chatting right in front of us about non work related topics. When we were finally spoken to, they talked to us very rudely and told us they "don't take orders at this register, you have to get in line." We then waited in the other line where they proceeded to tell us they didn't have any more number balloons in the color needed with NO CLUE when the new order would be coming in. Scheduled delivery more than a week ago. Received a few "your party is on the way" confirmations. Delivery window comes and goes--no delivery. Call the 973-614-9080 number, which has an automated answer and then trips over to a cell. Alexis picked up the first time, I told her I was calling to check on the status of delivery. Alexis does not ask for any info and just says to hold. Ten minutes later, I'm still holding. I hang up and call a second time. Auto-answer, trip to cell, Alexis. "Hi, I was hanging out on hold. I'm calling to check the status of my delivery which was supposed to happen between 2-3"--"Hold a minute..." Six minutes elapse, and I am hung up on. I try back, the call fails. I try back three more times. FAIL. I try back twice more, get the auto answer, and then the line rings and rings and eventually just beeps out. So I call the general Party City 800 number. A rep sends Clifton PC an email while attempting to reach them by phone. FAIL. A second attempt. FAIL. A third attempt. FAIL. Basically, NEVER AGAIN, Clifton Party City. Thanks for nothing. And in addition to a refund, I would like the last 40 minutes of my life back. read more

Ordered and paid for 40th birthday balloons early Saturday morning to be picked up that afternoon for a party that I was hosting. Knowing I had a tight schedule for the day as well as flash flood thunderstorms in the forecast I just needed to run in to pick them up and be on my way. Arrived to absolute chaos in the store. My balloons were floating all over the ceiling. I asked for them to be put in a bag because there were torrential downpours currently happening to which the lady told me I'd have to buy the bags. Super annoyed because the bags weren't even mentioned as an additional option when I bought the balloons that morning. Tried to give her the money and she told me I'd have to go on line to pay for the bags and come back. The line had no less than 20 people. I gave a random customer at the front of the line money to buy them for me. Then when I brought the bags back to where the balloons were coming they couldn't be bothered putting the balloons in the bags for me so I did it myself. I ended up being late to my own party because of these ridiculous employees. read more

So I go all around the north Jersey area rating different businesses retail stores food and shopping establishments. Today my review is store 710!!! Unfortunately i am giving this store a 1 star rating.. I have been in party city multiple times for the past 2 months. This store CURRENTLY HAS NO AIR CONDITIONING AND HAS NOT HAD ONE FOR A MONTH NOW AND STILL CONTIUES!! They have 4 portable air conditioning units inside the store one in each corner of the building and all it does is recirculate the hot air and does not blow out cold air. The air conditioners are plugged into extension cords which is a tripping hazard and a fire hazard. The store is so hot that the one day I went into the store it was 91 degrees in the store. Just this week another portable air conditioning unit was added to the candy chocolate section of the store. I went to pick up chocolate and a snickers bar and instantly squished in my hand due to the heat in the store everything is melting already. When I went to the register to check out I told the cashier that all the chocolate was melting and was not good. I looked around and noticed that all the cashiers behind the counter were dripping of sweat and looked overly exhausted which is completely gross and unhealthy I was in the store for approximately 45 minutes and By the time I checked out I was soaked in sweat and so were other customers. I heard more people complain to the cashiers about the heat then I could imagine. Party city is not doing anything for not only the customers but employees...this store should not be opened until the air is fixed. A friend of mine went into the store on a Saturday and waited 3 hours to have 5 balloons filled for his sons birthday. He waited in line for 18 minutes just to check out. At one point they stopped taking walk-in balloon orders and said that they were running low on helium just because they were so backed up with inflations. This store is so under staffed it's not even funny... the aisle right outside the bathrooms were completely crowed with boxes and inventory that it is extremely tight to look at items in the baby section. It feels like closterfobic. last but not least the men's room bathroom smells like something either died in the drain pipe or raw sewage. Especially with the heat it was horrible. hopefully all these problems are resolved and something is done!!! read more
