Uneducated and lazy employees standing behind the counter giving poor and useless information to customers who ask a SPECIFIC questions because they are too busy on their phones to give a correct answer. I asked if the section they were standing at had a selection of Mylar valentine balloons to be filled. One male customer lazily pointed to a section of the store. I walked over and looked at all the balloons labeled decorative and air filled. I picked the air filled and was rudely told with rolling eyes by a male employee that it could not be filled with helium. When I asked again where the helium mylars were, again a lazy finger saying they were at the same section with the words helium. I told the second male employee NONE of the packages say helium. I go back to the valentine section and ask if "decorative means it could be helium filled and finally got confirmation. The entire time the female manager is standing there flipping through paperwork pretending nothing is happening ignoring the exchange. When I asked her if she was the manager, she lazily and ignorantly says yes, stated her 2 male employees nothing wrong and the are labeled helium. Unbelievable. This is a nice store & everyone is usually cordial & helpful. BUT, if it's a holiday/graduation season PLAN AHEAD! I ALWAYS Order ahead online and the last two times it sent my order to a further party city that I couldn't make it to, as it was the day of my event. I had to cancel my order at the other store then call four flags back & spoke to manager & he said he would set aside the balloons I needed & just to come in & tell him and he will fill them for me. I specifically asked, how long it will take bc I am pressed for time. He said it would only be a few minutes. I responded, perfect thank you. I arrived at the store & everyone was flustered, guy on the phone was pounding his fist on counter while another employee was trying to calm him down. Ok. It's a party store. So when he was off phone I told the guy, I'm the one that called about the putting the balloons to the side & he said oh yes ok. To my shock, he walked into the aisle of the balloons and grabbed what I wanted. Clearly never put them to the side. Then again to my shock he said, ok it'll take 35 minutes to an hour to fill so you have to come back and pick them up. Wow. When I spoke to him on the phone earlier and he assured me it was no big deal and only take a few minutes. Seriously. It's graduation season. Get it together. He couldn't fill up 4 balloons. The balloon was deflated I asked for another balloon. The guy said that It was because it was cold and he inflated it more. Drove home the balloon was deflated again. I called the store and the guy (a young guy, who wouldn't give his name) was very argumentative and told me I should have picked up the balloons yesterday which was irrelevant. Then I asked to speak to a supervisor and I got Dalia the "balloon lead" who was even more unprofessional, aggressive, and argumentative. I asked to speak to someone above her and she said she was the only one and would not give me management's name. This place has gone to sh!t ! Ghetto a55 people! Went to purchase a dozen white and gold balloons to be used as table decor for my husband's retirement party with a 15 percent off coupon. A very unprofessional counter person said the coupon wasn't valid as it wouldn't scan. Perhaps she was doing something incorrectly as the coupon stated "present to cashier when checking out". $40.00 later we left indicating we would pick them up on Saturday. On our way to the restaurant 1 popped in the car and 2 more popped at the restaurant. They had obviously been overfilled. NEVER again will I do business with such incompetent employees. read more

I live out of state, ordered balloon bouquet to be delivered b/t 5-6pm. Gift recipients hadn't received (they didn't know what was being delivered just that something was) by 5:50 so called store to make sure it was on its way. Lexi went beyond expectations to figure out where delivery was. When she got no answer from delivery service, she called an Uber and was getting a new bouquet ready to go--then recipients texted to say they got it around 6:10. So I quickly called back to PC and apologized and Lexi said no problem, she'd cancel the Uber/2nd delivery. This is amazing customer service!! I am not a Halloween girl. Ironically, I do enjoy dressing up for any other reason -karaoke night out, a Lady Gaga show. Right before Halloween, I needed to get a top hat for a charity event that was Allison In Wonderland themed. So I was going for a sorta Mad Hatter look. I went to this location. Despite it being crazy crowded (as it was a few days prior to Halloween) I found it to be organized and the employees super helpful. The top hats were stacked up high and I needed a guy to get them down for me. I think the employees were pretty cool considering how many people and kids were there looking for costumes. I got my top hat and waited only a few minutes in line and was outta there. While I've never really liked these stores, I can now see how they do have some cool stuff for my random dress-up nights out! read more

Sure you can find stuff for any holiday, or for a party you need to host, but the place is messy, smells funky, and if you come here for Halloween and find a decent costume to try on, don't be surprised if they are out of stock but didn't update it on their costume wall (a wall of pictures of different costumes you can choose from). I did indeed come here looking for a Halloween costume for work, and it took me about 20 minutes to find a decent one, the picture didn't have any marks indicating that they might be out of stock. So when I asked the attendant to grab me the costume of my choice, he reported back to me that they don't have it. OK, so I take another 20 minutes to find a different costume, but the same thing happens when I want to buy it... for some reason I had faith in this place and tried for the third time but the result didn't change so I just left. This is our go to party supply store for our son's birthday parties. We're about to celebrate number 9 and just went today to get squared away. They have a huge selection of things to choose from in all sorts of different categories. It's always a challenge leaving their with just one theme and no additional toys or candy LOL. They could definitely use more employees. There is hardly anyone there and only one person working the cash register. With such a big store more people would definitely be helpful, but the ones that are their are really nice, so no problem. Also I like that you can order balloons to be filled up and picked up the day of the party. It makes it so much easier then doing it yourself. Admittedly I haven't been to a lot of party supply stores in my life, but this one certainly suits our needs. read more

It was the worst experience ever! My 13 year old daughter went into this store and got yelled at by one specific worker. My daughter was buying party supplies for her Halloween party (and was very excited!!!), but she was only to be discouraged by an angry employee who wanted to get to her lunch break. Terrible Service! When I asked a male employee if he worked at the Party City (he wasn't wearing a name tag), he rudely replied "Yes." I then asked him if they had 3-D glasses. He replied in a very annoyed and rude tone, "I don't know!!" Then I asked some other employee (who by the way, got very infuriated and annoyed when I asked her if I could ask her a question) , she was near the rainbow, black and white items, and she yelled at me, quietly shouting, "NO!" I docked one star because I noticed it said "The discount party superstore" and I don't feel there is anything discount about this store. The feeling must be common as this place has a 3 dollar sign symbol by it. Anyway! It's got plenty of selection though. We come here for balloons and a tip would be if you are going to buy several helium balloons, look for a pack of them in the aisles (not counter). I got a 5 pack of the fisher price safari theme balloons for 15.99 and sold separately they would probably be at least $25. The pack comes with free helium. There is a large monkey (9.99), 2 round shiny balloons (3.99 value each), and 2 heart shaped balloons (probably also 3.99 value each). Great deal! read more

I have been to a handful of Party Cities in my life, however this one was the absolute worst one I've been to. I walked in to get some supplies for my birthday this upcoming weekend, and was not greeted or welcomed into the store, even though, there were about four employees just talking at the registers. So that was strike number one, and then, when it came time to check out, the worker, Lexi to specify her name, was so rude and unfriendly and refused to make eye contact with me, made my experience even more unpleasant. I have gone to this party city multiple times in the past for both of my kid's birthday supplies. I have never had an issue, up until today. My sister and I went to this location looking for Halloween costumes. We were in the wig section trying on wigs and after finding one I thought I could make work for a costume, I walked around the store with it to find other pieces to go with it. After walking around and not being able to find anything to go with the wig, I went back to the wig section to put it back. I couldn't find the original bag it came out of so I put it in another empty wig bag. As my sister and I were walking out of the store, an older woman with brassy colored hair who I assumed was the manager, stopped us and asked "if we could give back the wig I was wearing around the store." I stated I had put it back in a wig bag in the wig section. She said I didn't because she had put the original wig bag up front behind the counter. I clarified for her that I had put the wig in an empty wig bag that was in the wig aisle. She told me to show her. So I walked her to the wig section and gave her the wig in the bag I was wearing around the store. The manager did not say anything to me. She just walked toward the front of the store like nothing happened. I was humiliated. This manager had openly accused me of stealing, and everyone had watched this exchange. The least this manager could have done was apologize for her false accusation, but nothing. I will not be going back to this party city for any of my future party needs. read more

So I came here a week ago looking to see if they had any pirate apparel/accessories. When I walked in, there was a female sales associate texting on her phone at the counter and another employee on the computer and no one even acknowledged me. (By the way it looked like I was the only person in the store) I stepped over to the girl and proceeded to ask her about the pirate section when I noticed that the other employee, on the computer, was a supervisor. Not only did the supervisor of the store fail to say hello (or ask if I needed help) he also allowed the female sales associate to text on her cell phone at the front of the store! Anyway, the girl told me where to find the pirate section and when I got there it was completely empty!!!!!!! I'm glad I walked to the very back of the store to find a sign that said pirate and nothing there. The sales associate could have told me that there wasn't anything out or at least that they were in the middle of resetting the store for Halloween so things might not be fully stocked, but no. So I then walked back to the front of the store and told her that the section was empty and she said "oh, I know"!! I cant believe she knew there wasn't anything out but didn't say anything and told me to go back there to look for product. I have worked in retail before and this is inexcusable behavior for a store. They need to get their act together. I know there are other stores around Skokie and I will be going to them and not this Party City. read more
