I went to the San Marcos Party City in Las Posas Rd to purchase party items for my husband's birthday party. I found some things that worked with my theme, and a great bouquet of mylar balloons. I spent over $200 with the helpful cashier who recommended the free delivery service that would bring the balloons to the party between 3:00 and 5:00. I called the store on Thursday to ensure we were set up for the delivery. The guy who answered couldn't find the order. He found someone else's order and insisted it was mine as I repeatedly told him it was not. I offered to cancel the delivery & just pick it up on Saturday. He then reassured me he had it. I told him the space number for our home and had him read me the full address. He was able to correctly repeat it with the correct space number. On Saturday I received a text message from DoorDash that said "what's the space number". I attempted to respond, and got nothing. I tried calling & was hung up on. Monday afternoon we got a call from a neighbor in space 56 to come pick up a delivery. It was a bag of balloons with a piece of paper attached with our last name. No address or space number. So we called Party City to request a refund as the balloons are useless to us 2 days after the party. The same kid I talked to on Thursday told us that it was Door Dash's fault. Then said he can't refund us anything without manager approval. Oh, and the manager is out for several days, so we just gave to wait to see if they'll accept any responsibility for not fulfilling their promise. Although the call lasted more than 10 minutes, we never got any apology. We got loads of excuses & even some blame for not responding to the dasher fast enough. This is absolutely ridiculous. I had ordered my stepdaughters picture to be printed on these heads for graduation day because posters banners are balloons are not allowed today. I received the order and clearly it is not my stepdaughter. It is a male never seen this kid in my life his poor family is probably wondering where their order is so I contacted customer service and corporate office and as you can see, I'm gonna attach their response. They are saying that they are only willing to give me 20% discount because there's nothing wrong with the photo, excuse me everything is wrong with the damn photos. Came here in August to shop supplies for a Minecraft themed birthday. This store didn't disappoint; cups, plate, napkins and balloons that all fit the theme. We're here in August and they are already setting up for Halloween. Everything is very organized; wigs, fake blood, masks, and costumes. Customer service was good. We were greeted as we came in and asked if we had any troubles at checkout. I've been to party cities that look like a tornado hit it, this one was very clean and organized. Party City is one of my go-to stores for the party/celebration essentials. The selection is amazing. They offer a big variety of supplies/items for just about any theme imaginable (Unicorn, Star Wars, Milestone Birthday, etc.). Party City has great seasonal and holiday items as well. The service is great and the staff is always friendly. They are willing to make suggestions and offer party ideas. The store layout and organization make it easy to find what you are looking for. The store is usually well stocked. The prices are reasonable/affordable. If I am running short on time, I utilize the "Order Online" feature. I like this feature because it saves time and money. If there are online promotions/deals, I am able to use them and pickup my items at the store within a reasonable amount of time. I've placed orders that have been filled in two hours! I went in over the weekend to order balloons for my office get together and I didn't wanna take them home so I was gonna have to make a special trip back but they said we can have them delivered via DoorDash on Tuesday. I was very excited and so was the clerk because they didn't know they could deliver this far. I was just called and told your door DoorDash was canceled because we don't deliver that far. I asked the clerk who is a very nice if she can call a store that's close to me and she said yes and she called and they don't deliver because they're franchise but she said the store manager or district manager is going to personally deliver them to me because of this misunderstanding if that's not exceptional customer service I don't know what is. read more

I spent a ton of $$$$ on decorations and balloons and then was told at check out that my order didn't qualify for delivery (not even a 10min drive) because there was another party city closer to the event location in Escondido. I was told to drive over to the Escondido location and give them the balloons and they would fill them up and deliver them on the event date. When I got to the Escondido location, the manager asked who helped me at the San Marcos location. She said that they could have delivered my order and thought it was odd that they sent me over to her, she apologized for the San Marcos' location and their lack of willingness to help. Check out the 99 cent store (or is it Family Dollar?) on Rancho Santa Fe. You can find themed paper goods for almost nothing compared to the costs at Party City. read more

I asked her to help me find a dance cane prop and she helped me find it and we had a good laugh finding it, she was super sweet and kind and walked me over to it, she even showed me different hats that would go well for my birthday photo shoot! The employees seems very inconvenienced when you ask for help. They're very annoyed with having to do anything other than what they were originally doing. NEVER STOP PLAYING! Never grow up. This is what I feel like when I enter this store. I turn into a huge kid. I play with the toys, get excited about the themes. Yes I walked around with a huge chucky doll mask on until my friend would take a pic for instagram. So much fun to be had if you turn off the frenzied holiday feeling and turn on your inner child. I went during the day so the customer load was still light. I did notice they had a worker standing in the costume area at all times to assist! Kudos. Another thing I enjoy about this store that they have so many different options for party favors or if your kid has a dollar to spend. All toys 1 dollar and under sections, down to peices of candy for 15 cents. Cool idea, for little ones that have saved their big dollar up and want them to actually have a choice. Either I am a walking zombie to notice or just plain oblivious to my surroundings but I believe this Party City has only been around for a couple of weeks. It is supposed to be the biggest Party City in North County. Given it is new- the place is very, very clean and organized. Second visit I came during the weekend to pick up party supplies. The cashier didn't acknowledge me during the entire transaction - only with the exception of the "have a nice day" comment at the end. The way the checkout line is laid out bothers me because you're always having to walk around the people rushing to take your spot (the line seems to be set up backwards), but other than that, it's a Party City. When you first walk in, your jaw drops to the ground because you see how many party supplies are here. All the generic decorations are color coded so it makes it easy to find. I came in 5 minutes before they closed, they gave me no rush or anything. In fact, they were really nice and helpful. I didn't stay here long, but I bought some party supplies. This store is much larger and cleaner than the nearby Encinitas store but what is lacking here is the customer service. No one was friendly during my recent visit here and there were only a few people in the store. When I went to check out, the cashier really didn't acknowledge me during my transaction and my biggest pet peeve is when they call "next in line" as your getting your bags together. I think it's just so rude. I would mention her name here but none of the cashiers wore name tags. Perhaps this is done intentionally?? I'm not sure if it was an off day or not but I was not impressed with this new store that opened nearby. With all the parties that I throw, I'm sure I'll come to pick up things here and there but if this is any indication on how they operate, I can easily scratch them from my list of retail stores to patronize. Terrible customer service. Watch what you buy and what you pay for!!! The only reason I'm giving them the 2nd star is because they are loaded with things you can't find in other stores. Got cheated there a few days ago. Went there to buy a bunch of things for my little one's themed birthday party, and even though I bought a lot of things I had a clue about what my bill should have been (about). When she told me the total it seemed a bit high to me. So without making a fuss I paid, and decided to check what I got charged for without leaving the store. So, it happened that I got charged for two things I didn't buy, totaling $5.18. So I went back to the registry (the cashier that did my transaction was busy so another one took care of me) and said "You charged me for two things I didn't buy. Here are the bags with everything I bought, here is the receipt, you are free to check them yourself. I haven't left the store". The original cashier that dealt with my transaction was right next to us and overheard what I was complaining about and just said "Oh, yeah! Ok!" like it was something she was used to. Makes me wonder how often she is caught over charging customers and how often she is not caught. The one that was doing the refund took the two items that I got double charged for in order to do the refund, asked me to sign the receipt for the refund and said "Done, you are good to go". She took my two items and didn't give them back. I had to ask twice "Ummm... excuse me, can I have my items back?! I paid for them! You just used them because I got double charged, you can't take them away". She stared at me and said "Oh, I took them, didn't I?" Well... you sure did! And I want them back! Terrible experience in the store. Unfortunately not only this time. We go to that store quite often. I don't think I've seen a happy store representative in there. Not sure why. Cold and rude. Maybe they don't pay them enough? Or they just woke up on the wrong side of the rock? Or didn't get laid... The employees today were extremely rude and short when asking about prices & balloon filling prices. When we were clarifying our balloons were grouped properly, we were met with the same short-toned rudeness. I was contemplating buying more balloons from them, but with the way I was treated was not going to give these people one more penny. I'm obnoxiously festive and spend way too much money on any holiday. Halloween is my favorite when it comes to festivity... so, of course, I have to make something Halloween - themed for all 96 of our employees every year. This year, I decided to give out some treat bags, and have lunch and dessert for them. I went to party city after looking online and seeing the supposedly "wide selection" of Halloween party supplies. Okay, really? I went there overzealous and excited to get all my shopping done in one place. I left with napkins and cups... woo. Over priced but pretty cute. Then we look for what they call "loot bags." THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY. Seriously party city? You've gone way downhill. We asked 2 employees where we could find these "loot bags" and both just gave me a blank stare and pointed to an aisle... an aisle that didn't have them... Once we found the cups and napkins, there was no price tag. So we asked a third employee who was really sweet and helpful and she figured it out for us. The place seems decently organized, but very cluttered. It also used to be extremely exciting to go when you were a kid, but now I have no clue how I ever liked it... It's alright if you're willing to spend an excessive amount of money for the same stuff you could get at Walmart, and they do have some cool stuff.
