You can take your time looking around even though you have a timed tour as there is a studio tour every 10 minutes. When you're ready for the tour, you go to an auditorium to see a short video about the studio and the history. This is updated with recent films (I saw a relatively different video when I went here 2 years ago). You then ride a long cart with other people in your group and your tour guide drives the cart around the lot. There are stops in different areas in the Warner Bros lot and you go down and walk with the guide. Photo opportunities are there as well. Different film/TV clips are also shown on the cart as you go through these iconic spots seeing how they were used in these films/TV shows which is cool. After this, you go to another studio where a Central Perk Cafe, a museum, and souvenir shop are located. You can take your time here as well. You then proceed to the next part of the tour. If you bought Superman experience, you go there. If not, you then go to spot where there's a Friends' couch and have pictures taken there. Next is the more interactive part where there's Harry Potter sets, some figures of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. Costumes and cars can be seen here as well. You'll end again where you entered and there's another huge souvenir shop with different toys, shirts, mugs, magnets, key chains, and so much more. Items are cute but can be pricey. Allot 3 hours for the entire experience without the Superman experience (since we did not do that).

I was expecting something different but maybe it's my fault. I know a good amount of Warner…read morebrothers films and shows so I thought I would be prepared. The tour was mostly of sets that included sitcoms like "Friends" and you simply walk around them and visit them. Most of the buildings are empty on the inside to show you but the novelty wears off quickly. You will do this for about an hour and then are dropped off in a museum section which has lots more. They did have other unique things to see like the force perspective and sound effects but that's just it. You exit into a gift shop that is near entirely made of "Friends" souvenirs. You return to the main building for a small DC and Harry Potter section and then straight to the gift shop. I was fairly underwhelmed by it. I expected a bit more in explanation and showing things instead of here's so and so from this show. The museum portion was more of a photo op than anything. I don't think I would return.

Each year, the Bungalow Heaven Neighborhood Association (BHNA) hosts a self-guided walking tour featuring 8 selected homes. The event took a pause last year due to the Eaton Fire, but this year our party attended the 35th Annual Bungalow Heaven Home Tour in April 2026. [Parking]: Street parking only (free), but our party had no issue finding available street parking in Bungalow Heaven near McDonald Park. [Admission]: Advance tickets = $25 per person (plus online fees), but tickets were available on the day of the event for $30 per person. Visitors checked in at McDonald Park (1000 Mountain Avenue) and the staff handed out a guidebook and wristband. Visitors were supposed to show wristbands to enter each home, but honestly not all volunteers were actively checking them. [Check-in tent & food / drink options]: The tent offered complimentary snacks, water, and lemonade. The staff was beyond generous with the snacks and visitors were encouraged to grab as many homemade cookies (over 35 different options!!!) as they wanted. Heck volunteers were even selling baking books with recipes for the same cookies. There was no complimentary coffee, but there was a coffee truck where visitors can purchase drinks. In addition, I noticed the Kogi food truck and few other food trucks too. [Experience]: The event started at 10 AM and our party stayed from 11:45 AM to 1:45 PM (2 hours) and toured 4 homes. Most of the homes our party visited were Craftsman-style bungalows. Between homes, visitors can also stop by various sponsored pop-up tents. Unfortunately, there were not many places to sit and visitors had to stand in line while waiting to enter each home. The lines were noticeably shorter after 2 PM, but keep in mind the guided tour only lasted until 4 PM so plan accordingly. Definitely expect to stay 4+ hours if visitors want to see all 8 homes + the home with a miniature railroad in the front yard. There were few porta-potties available for anyone who needed a restroom break. Each home had volunteer tour guides explaining the history of each home and some current homeowners were present and available to answer questions in their backyards. [Rules inside of each home]: No interior photos, no food or drinks, no smoking, and no high heels. [Conclusion]: This is a solid tour for anyone who is into historic houses. Some tips include wearing sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and breathable clothing. And yes I think those complimentary cookies were well worth at least half of the admission price alone.

If you live in an older home and/or you are a fan of historic homes, the Bungalow Heaven Home Tour in late April every year is an event not to be missed. Be ready to be amazed with the exterior as well as the interior of 6 to 7 featured homes in Pasadena. Most of the owners of these homes have meticulously restored their home's historic glory, and their commitment and dedication to their homes will definitely make you think twice about today's cookie cutter modern homes. Thank you so much to the Bungalow Heaven Home Tour committee for organizing such a wonderful event for the home showcase volunteers for letting strangers see their beautiful homes! Buy tickets online ahead of time to get a discount. A map of all featured homes will be given to you at Check In at MacDonald Park, and this park is the perfect check in area since it's pretty much in the middle of Bungalow Heaven. You set the pace and the route since the tour is completely self-guided. Bring a lot of water and snacks, and make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Yes, you can also drive yourself from home to home, but part of the charm is walking through the beautiful streets of Bungalow Heaven. Walk and enjoy the views of this historic neighborhood if you are able. Several food trucks are at McDonald Park for a lunch break, and there are also different opportunities to enjoy live music performances along the route. In the 2023 tour, the first one to take place after the pandemic, the tour also featured craftsmen who live in the area along the route, from quilt makers to painters to furniture makers.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience here at Rubel Castle. Our host, guide,…read moreand local "Rubelligent" volunteer, Ms. Kathleen had all the intel about this historical property. She was so knowledgeable and helped set the stage for us to slip into a forgotten era and get a glimpse of how imagination met inventiveness with a DIY charm. ~ A LITTLE BACKSTORY FOR YOU ~ It's not pronounced Rubel as Barney from Flintstones. Rather, it's like Target is to Targét when we are trying to be fancy. So that's Rubel as in "Roo-bell." Unlike modern-day construction, Rubel Castle wasn't built overnight. It was made of collected recyclables and construction rubble that spanned many decades and took several friends and volunteers to build it. For Michael, however, the lifetime inspiration was first sparked at the age of 9. His love for canons was where it started and the rest is history you can hear about on the tour. But don't just show up like we did randomly one day. To book, visit RubelTours.org and make a reservation. ~ OUR TOUR EXPERIENCE ~ It's as if Michael Rubel, the creator and mastermind of this enchanted dominion had intended it to be--magical. Built in the castle period of wood and tin, every corner captured our interests, from antique cars to the 1890's Seth Thomas Tower Clock with a unique backstory (and only six in existence today). There were old vending machines, tools, trinkets, and machinery that time had long forgotten. Did I mention there was a drawbridge? Yes, and a dungeon too. I was just waiting for a dragon to come swoop down on us next. Walk in the footsteps of famous visitors like Alfred Hitchcock, Dwight Eisenhower, Jack Benny, and Bob Hope. It's a feast for the eyes no matter where you glance. I particularly enjoyed the bottle house that Michael built in 1968 as his "home" as a kid. That independent spirit was quite charming to see. ~ WATERCOLOR NATURESCAPE ~ We were fortunate to have our gracious host lead us on a tour and organize a special art crafting experience outdoors. It was absolutely lovely beneath the trees and between rusted vintage cars from the turn of the century. We each got a small canvas to paint our flowers in watercolor. (This particular experience takes place in the Spring and Fall, weather permitting.) We heard the squirrels rattling in the leaves and birds chirped and sang in the trees above. We discovered that peacocks apparently originated from this property, compliments of Michael Rubel. And did I mention that on the far side of the property, a custom garden was in full bloom? Thanks to the sheer persistence (and probably delightful stubbornness) of Michael Rubel, we now have this quirky, towering State Treasure sitting right in the middle of Glendora like a fairy tale that accidentally took a detour through a hardware store. This place is beautifully done, and part of its charm is that it's a full-on hodgepodge of relics, antiques, crystal trinkets, and "wait... what is that doing here?" moments tucked into every nook and cranny. You'll marvel, you'll laugh, you'll squint in confusion--honestly, it's everything you'd want in a castle built with love, imagination, and a dash of madness. And let's talk about the makeshift cemetery. Quirky? YES. Fun? Absolutely. Slightly spooky? Only if your imagination is over-caffeinated. But it fits the vibe perfectly--like the castle whispered, "You know what I'm missing? A tiny cemetery." The tours are fantastic, the guides are passionate, and the whole experience feels like you're stepping into a living scrapbook of California history and charming chaos. Overall: Amazing, amazing place. Book your tour. They only do tours every first Sunday of the month, so set your alarms, mark your calendars, tie a string around your finger--just don't miss it. Rubel Castle is truly a California State Treasure, and an absolute must-see for anyone who appreciates creativity, history, and a little eccentric sparkle.

Well this little thing called coronavirus happened in the meantime, and so our March tour was shut down. They offered us a full refund or to postpone the tour for a later date. We opted for the full refund. This was in mid to late March. At the end of April, after weeks of delays and still no refund, I wrote a review on yelp expressing my frustration about this situation. That same day, the Fun Belly owner Carlos got in touch with me and over the next few messages basically told me that Fun Belly themselves don't handle billing/refunds (instead employing a company called EzTix), but that he would get in touch with his rep at EzTix and try to make things right. Within 2 days our refund had been issued. Wow. So while I didn't have the opportunity to go on the food tour, I still think it's important for prospective customers to know that Fun Belly has an owner with some real integrity. It would have been so easy for Carlos to say, "Well, the refund is out of my hands, go deal with it yourselves", but he went the extra mile to make things right. Once this shutdown is over and I'm actually allowed to leave my house, we'll definitely rebook for the food tour we never got an opportunity to go on. I know we'll be in good hands.
