As a grown adult who went to this preschool years ago, I feel that this could potentially give some…read moreparents a bit of perspective on the effect that this school may have on their child. **I went to Happy Hollow about 14-15 years ago** and, had both good and bad times here. I remember playing with arts and crafts, having snack time, circle time, story time, stations, the whole shebang. Everything was kept clean, I even remember learning the clean up song as we would throw away our paper plates after snack time. I also remember playing with shaving cream on the tables, which got messy, but was loads of fun. However, as I mentioned, I experienced some harsh moments here, and these memories still stick with me to this day. Of course, I have forgiven the woman who owns the place since these times, and I'm sure she does not remember them, but the memory still resides within my head. Since so much time has passed, I look back and understand that having a career where you are a caretaker and teacher to children is a stressful job to have. I also feel that if someone is going into this sort of career, that there should be a level of patience and understanding so that lash-out behavior does not occur. It was nap time, and everyone was asleep, lullaby music was playing, curtains were shut, and the lights were out. Usually I was a pretty good napper, but there was one day where I just could not fall asleep, so I sat up on my mat. The owner's daughter, who worked there, came into the room to check and see if everyone was doing okay, and she noticed I was sitting up. She told me to lay down or she would tell the owner that I was awake. I responded by telling her that I would lay down, I apologized, and tried to get some rest. A couple of minutes later, the owner marched into the room and yanked my ear and told me that if I did not go to sleep, that I would be in big trouble and she would tell my parents... Of course, I started crying out of fear and cried until nap time was over. When the lights came back on, I sat up and was immediately put into time out, where I sat on cold, hard concrete and stared at a wall. Another thing I remember was her long nails digging into my arms when she grabbed me to put me there. Needless to say, I had a pretty "meh" experience here. Even my parents, who were persistent in teaching me to have good manners and to be respect, were disappointed in how this situation was blown out of proportion and they admit to regretting having me at this day care. They have also mentioned to me that the owner was quite snippy with them from time to time. **Of course, there has probably been a LOT of change since my time**, but I wanted to put my story out there incase anyone else has experience something along the lines of this. I give this daycare 2 stars because although I did have good times here, unfortunately, the bad times are more clear in my memory.

I have never once questioned the safety of my boys, nor have I felt they were not being looked after appropriately. The teacher (owner) and the teaching assistants are fantastic. In fact, the teaching assistants are college students that are majoring in education! Personally, I know my oldest son likes to fib from time to time about homework so he can just play, or he's 'forgotten' his folder or assignments at school to avoid homework as well. The teacher likes to make sure all homework is done prior to parents arrival so that it is not a burden on them to deal with once home. I love that I could do a once over and that's it! I appreciate everything that Happy Hollow has done for my boys. My children have have had the opportunity to be part of the Pre Kinder Program, after school, and summer camp. First, allow me to tell you about the pre-school/pre k, my youngest has attended since he was 3 (he is now 5). Celebrations are a big deal at Happy Hollow, huge parties for holidays and they really make the kids feel special on their birthdays as well. My youngest was born premature and he is a little behind the curve learning wise. The last two years he has gone to Happy Hollow, he has learned so much! He has excelled and is truly ready to rock kindergarten next year. I attached a photo of my son from last nights' Preschool/ PreK graduation ceremony, not to brag about how cute he was (even though I don't have to tell you how precious he looked in his cap and gown) but, to show you how PROUD he was of himself. He held his head so high like the other kiddos did walking across the stage it was beautiful. They had all worked so hard this year to accomplish their goals. The teacher believes in attention to detail and it works perfectly. Next, after school. The children are picked up from their local schools. They are ASSISTED with their homework and are able to play afterwards. It's a great feeling knowing that I don't need to worry about being bogged down with homework once home, I can check out what the assignment was and go about the usual nightly routine of laundry, dinner, clean. Ect. Last, Happy Hollow's summer camp. The children go on a lot of fantastic field trips, and have an opportunity to get swimming lessons as well. Unfortunately, due to my new summer work schedule- my boys will not be able to attend the camp and they are very upset about it. Because Happy Hollow is not a large school, the kids form a special bond with one another. Both boys have made really awesome friends. If you're looking for a special place that can give you piece of mind that your child is learning and being loved on, Happy Hollow is the place for your family. I really can't say enough how blessed we were to have found such a caring and kind school for them to grow and learn. I would not recommend this location to anyone. My son (15…read moremonths) attended this location for a total of 5 days. In this 5 days he received a total of 12 diaper changes. I always thought maybe they were just skipping logging them into the family app until we picked up his bag the day we took him out of their care.(May 28th) A total of 12 diapers missing from the package we gave them. 11 documented changes and one undocumented when we picked him up on the 26th of May at approximately 5:30. This appears to be the only change he had that day. Resulting in a serious diaper rash. On May 27th we noticed a large bite mark on his BACK (Broken skin) when we went to bath him at home. No contact from the care center until we called to ask what happened. I went in on the 28th to discuss this with the director where I was told she was allowed 24 hours to notify me. She chalked up the reason for not notifying me to being short staffed. I also firmly believe he was not getting fed the appropriate amount as when he came home he devoured absolutely anything he could get his hands on. This with his changed behavior at home after being with them for the day irritable, angry, fussy, and screaming more than he does, leads me to believe this place needs to be looked into. When I brought up the concerns with the director she stated that we could move him if we didn't feel he was getting the care he needed instead of addressing the issues. Her main excuse was lack of staff. I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere for proper care when it comes to your little one.

Unfortunately, there are some pretty bad apples here. The ONLY room I would trust putting my child…read morein is the infant 1 room. The 2 ladies Tracy and Alexis, were HEAVEN SENT!!!! From 3 months to 1 year, no problem at all that was not resolved through a simple conversation, they were very considerate of the parents requests. NOW move on to the infant 2 room, the old lady there is rough with the kids, she appears bipolar. She's rough and seems probably too old to be working there because she can barely pick up the kids. When she picks up the kids she holds them under their underarms with one hand while the kids hang there til she gets to where she is going. When my son was in that room, she basically threw the kids onto the changing table. Some other teachers that help out in that room seemed to be "oblivious" to things happening around them. One teacher would be occupied changing a diaper while the other had their back turned to the kids with zero idea of what is happening for a lengthened period of time. My son had asthma and when he was in that room, I literally had to ask them if the medication was given. When I told them no milk due to dairy issues transitioning off breast milk, they continued to "confuse" me by saying he had milk but adding a note that it was water instead knowing there is an option to put just water... I constantly had to ask them to place my child in frame of the cameras during feeding times and they also acted like nothing in that room could be moved. My son is very active and had to go in the high chair during meal time, but they kept placing him out of frame when I kindly asked on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS to have him in frame (simple request you would think). Overall the infant 2 room was just a stressful time as a full time working mom who tries not to get too anxious about my son being there. They do interact with the kids for activities as well but sometimes it seems forced for the pictures they post on the app. The old lady in this room literally pulls the kids down while they are standing so they can sit down. If the child does not want to sit, they don't have to. I don't see the point in forcing them if they don't want to. They are not in school, they are babies. NOOOOOWWW moving on to toddler room 1! LOOOOOVVVEEEE Tori, she is AMAAZZZIINNGG and soooo understanding!! BUT my issue here is with the cameras and the blind spots where you can't see anything no matter what camera angle you choose. Today I had a teacher that does not normally watch the kids in this room, the teacher that normally does is out. This young lady decided she was going to be firm and aggressive with all the kids. Seemed like she was yelling at them instead of talking to them and trying to get them to understand what they are doing is dangerous. I never seen a more chaotic room. The kids were on the chairs, on the table, on the counters, just not listening to her in the slightest. Other teachers have come in to help Tori before and did not have this issue. That young lady did NOT need to be in there by herself at all, she could NOT handle that room. MY BIGGEST ISSUE HERE IS THAT MY SON WAS ON A CHAIR AND SHE SNATCHED HIM OFF THE CHAIR AND HIS SHOE CAME OFF. SHE PUT THE SHOE BACK ON AND PROCEEDED TO TAKE MY SON TO THE BLIND SPOT THAT IS VERY OBVIOUSLY A BLIND SPOT. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, BUT THE YOUNG LADY CAME INTO FRAME AND MY SON DID NOT... ABSOLUTELY POSITIVITY UNACCEPTABLE AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. THESE ARE CHILDREN AND THESE CHILDREN HAVE HARD WORKING PARENTS THAT ARE PAYING THE ESTABLISHMENT TO CAAAAAARREEEE FOR THEIR CHILDREN, NOT DO THINGS TO CAUSE DISTRUST AND ANXIETY. AS SOON AS WE FIND ANOTHER LOCATION MY SON WILL BE LEAVING TO NEVER RETURN AND EVERYONE WHO IS MISTREATING THESE CHILDREN WILL BE REPORTED WITH FIRST AND LAST NAME AND I WILL NEED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES AT HAND WITH EACH INDIVIDUAL THAT DOES NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TO CARE FOR CHILDREN.

They would move her to another room when they were short on teacher but would never advise us. I saw one of teachers forcibly put my daughters head down during nap time. I address it and it happened again. So they disregarded my concerns. There was another time when they had said there was a positive case of RVs in infant one and they put her there after I requested that they move her. I got attitude from the director. The director is not very friendly or seems to acknowledge parents concerns. Idk how she's been there for so long. She's never available. The last straw was when my daughter got bit twice the same day. They only made one report. And when I spoke to them they supposedly make a report for every time it happens. I understand kids bite but as a teacher you would do your best to keep them separated. Then both the teachers were very dismissive about the indigent and so was the director. Honestly these teachers are overworked and you can tell. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. My sister saw red flags right away but I wanted to give them a chance and they failed my daughter. Honestly their reputation just keeps going downhill first with the pedophile Case and then workers quitting within a month because the working conditions are not ideal. When I asked about the incident the director said "I have 3 kids of my own and was the same way with my 1st" idk how that was supposed to make me feel better when my daughter was probably scared and no one did anything to protect her.
