I called for the first time to speak with an academic advisor. I wish I had her name. She was rude and had no empathy. She just wanted to hurry up and get off the call. She wouldn't allow me to speak adding her thoughts before I could say anything. I haven't even walked into that school and I don't plan on it. I tried to call to show her a paper permit and she just rudely ignored me. Classes are great, but IT TECNICAL SUPPORT? The schedule states they are available 24/7 what a joke. Now when log into my portal must verify with a text message so far, within 2 weeks two days. I HAVE VERIFIED 33 TIMES YES 33 this morning wanted to complete my homework 6:00 am had to verify 2 more times This action is disgusting Went on the 5th floor BIG SHOTS IT Mr. Chris, he stated oh, the state requires students to verify only 12 times! On a scale of 0 to 5 Food: 0.5 I think they have every intention of making sure you become diabetic. Its nothing but deep fried highly sugared food. I've eaten it sparingly, and when Ive pointed out the low quality in conversation with my friends, id get the staff giving me dirty looks Student Life/Community: 0.25 People there implicitly pray to see you fall. Almost every conversation with students or advisors alike feels like an interrogation. If you do well, it incites immense jealousy from your peers. If you dont do well, you're seen as a loser. Additionally, there are some who work there who seem to believe you owe them your soul. An incredible notion from people who's income comes directly from civialian taxes. If you find yourself at this school, stay away from the community, dont make friends, heck, take night classes because the people running the school(whom you'll bump into during the day) are nepo babies disguising themselves as being disenfranchised. The insecurities and elitism that run rampant among the memebers of the school community is no accident. Its the by design and is facilitated by the advisory staff. Ive only ever met one helpful advisor in the entire time that Id been there. Thankfully, im a fully grown adult who can spot bullshit when i see it. I just feel bad for the you coming into this trash heap. Especially the ones who may be struggling. Oh, and dont get me started on Bursars. They tried to put me on student loans by default because I didnt hit the reject key in the student portal. Also, they tried to preditorially charge me for a semster 6 months before it even began! Amazing! Professors/Classes: 4 One of the saving graces of this school. In fact, if you need a friend or someone to motivate you, I'd recommend you stick close to the professors. They actually give a sh**. They dont condescend, and yes, their classes are tough ash(especially if you're in stem). Just a quick disclaimer, they're not your life coach. However, if you have a genuine intellectual curiosity for say: chemistry, or math, then they are 1000% there to answer your questions. I retook almost all my chemistry courses and the class was not easy, but the professor was super cool. Like, I sucked in the beginning, and then I got good. Thats the kind of thing that professors respect. The maths could use some improvment... for example, there is a high polarity in terms of the difficulty of the higher math classes between profs. Ex: one's calc class is waaaaay tougher than the other. I always went for the toughest. Yes, Im a glutton for punishment lol. I say they should all be equally difficult. Extrcurriculars: 0.25 This kind of piggy backs on the community metric. In my last point, I mentioned that bit about getting good. Guess what, that concept goes to sh** with these people. The nepo babies running these gigs will go on and on about having a growth mindet while practicing a fixed mindest. Make no mistake, THIS SCHOOL IS ALL ABOUT DETERMINISM. Ive been to many of the social gatherings and extra activity. They put you through these nonsensicle exercises and then tell you that if you're struggling its because you're not trying or whatever, or because you suck(a bit of generalisation ill admit). Its bs peptalk from grifters who studied useless sh** like 'gender studies'. Every extracurricular felt more like some kind of indoctrination instead of skill building. People constantly talk over each other, especially when there are disagreements. Job Opportunity: 1/5 Again, none of these advisors are partcularly helpful. The only job opportunities I've found were through networking with friends and such. Basically, what ive always done. So, if you get some small weasly advisor trying to fear monger you about your future, it probably has a lot more to do with them being an academic their entire lives and being too much of a pu**y to move into the private sector. No advisor has ever been helpful in this area. Frankly, i dont think any advisor ever will be. Its something you have to hustle for. Safety: 4.5/5 In a neighborhood with high crimerates, it makes sense that safety protocols have such a robust infrastructure. Kudos to the state on this. I know the state had their hand in this and not the staff at the school.. the quality of safety is just too good. Score: 2.05 out of 5 Conclusion I've said a lot. I dont go around reviewing sh**. This school really has come a long way and still has a ways to go. Maybe in century it'll have effectively improved these errors. The educational quality isnt bad, but everything else sure as sh** is. Do your research, get the class schedule for your degree, make sure you know EXACTLY what you need. Do not open yourself to anyone here. They will exploit any and all of your vulnerabilities. I may have appeard younger to some, but my adulthood showed in my maturity. When I graduated with a degree in Biology in 2019, I had an amazing experience. I encountered some inspirational professors, though a few were rude and unprofessional--but that's likely true of all schools. The college was diverse, and the material was at a community college level. Despite being an out-of-county student, the tuition was still lower than my in-county rate at BCCC, and the parking was more convenient. They hosted a nice graduation dinner for us at La Nieves, and I really can't complain about that. However, there's one major issue: the financial aid department. They are useless, constantly sending you from person to person without ever resolving anything, which is especially frustrating when your classes are at risk of being dropped due to their incompetence in disbursing grants or loans. There was one standout employee, Shakere, who resolved all my issues in less than ten minutes. I'm not sure why he's not in charge of training the financial aid staff. Now that I'm returning for nursing, I have to say it's been a nice experience so far. read more

I'm a million percent sure the reason their graduation rates are so low are because of how rude their staff is especially the enrollment staff...bursar, financial aid, admissions, etc. They make it difficult and make you feel stupid if you ask questions or are confused. You have to be VERY patient and you basically have no guidance so you have to figure everything out on your own which is probably why so many people drop out. read more

The people working here are supposed to be helping the students, but instead they give students a hard time. Seems they would rather be home then working at the school,and if so they should really think about switching their occupations. Like someone else said the school is better off hiring monkeys than the people they have working there now. read more

I thought it was pretty good. The classes are among the most affordable in the state. As with anything you get out what you put in. You are not always pushed too hard here so to truly learn you should go the extra mile; read the materials and do the work. My business stats class here was more comprehensive and taught me more than a graduate level stats class. In all I thought you get a great value at PCCC for a county college. I went to the Paterson campus for business and would recommend it to anyone. You also get a free class per semester as an alumni which I plan to pursue after I finish my education. read more

Registrar office doesn't contact you about your bill but they send your stuff to collections.

I'm updating, switched to paterson campus, using wanaque when i don't want to stand on lines for things. You get what you get here, not the most amazing school but it's really good. Teachers are better in paterson, good price, great way to get into a 4yr and not pay their prices the entire time. Paterson has a garage that u pay $40 deposit....then get back when you leave so it's free pretty much. read more

They say that they're a 2-year college, but in actuality they're not. They tend to throw unnecessary classes at you that have nothing to do with your major. They'll try their hardest to sell you a class just to take your money. Financial Aid sometimes doesn't really care about your economic status and say they're gonna try their "best" to help you.
