Please have Wi-Fi, but it was so weak in my room that are only work at one end, and didn't exist in the front by the TV. The room had a mini fridge and a two burner electric stove, but it was all period: late 60s at best. The fan in the bathroom made more noise than a freight train. The pull-out sofa only pulled out once, and then could never be pushed back in. Ugh. I wish they would update the place lately, as if they did I'd have no problem paying 80 or 90 a night for this location but it would have to be 1995-vintage or butter.....

My wife & I couldn't find a hotel, for a reasonable price, to lay our heads for just the night, because were the last minute, middle of the night, kind of people. We gave them a call to be sure they're open, & they answered (both times) around midnight & one in the morning, & we're greeted pleasantly, rather than hatefully like all the others we had tried. The lobby is behind the motel, in the owner's mud room of their house, you'll see a little neon "open" sign where you enter. I found it very comforting. Our room was laid out very nicely, & uniquely unoridinary, almost like a small 1 bedroom apartment. You're actually booking a small suite. The room had all the amenities one might need. They have an old A/C unit in the bedroom, that looks like an antique from the 1800s, when we turned it on, it sounded like the unit was screaming at me. I would advise that would be replaced, in the near future.. The interior is a little outdated (panel board, older yet unique appliances) but welcoming & clean regardless. The location isn't exactly ideal, but we've been to a lot worse.

We where promised a site until mid October come to find out they over booked the site we where on and moved us to the bowels of the campground right beside a very busy bridge over pass it was so loud my dog would shake. We decided to pull out due to many things at the end of the day they tried to price gouge us at the end with about 35 days left. When I told him I was leaving his comment was oh is the price to high and then he went on to say in front of his mother in law that I look like I have money. We enjoyed the restaurant that was there but they also bailed out. I would not recommend this campground to anyone we miss the old owners.

My husband and I were looking for a fun way to "leaf peep," since the Common Ground Fair was…read morecancelled this year due to the coronavirus precautions. I saw an article about RailCycling, and we thought we'd give it a try. We were not disappointed! So what are RailCycles? Think of a tandem recumbent bike, that runs on train tracks. We started at a historic train station in Unity (unfortunately, we were there too early to partake of the ice cream shop that was housed in one of the buildings, but we did browse a soap shop). Check out the tiny museum, which doubles as a rudimentary gift shop. We then sat down on our Cycle. They are somewhat adjustable for height, but not completely. I'm short (5' tall), and the closest I could get to the pedals had me reaching, because of the placement of the brake cable. When I tried one of the others, the closer setting was too close (maybe sized for a child). My seat also seeped water (though it hadn't rained for days), and I ended up with a very wet butt. The seats also aren't very wide, so take that into account. Once we got started, it was a lot of fun - one major roadway across which Logan stopped traffic so we could cross, followed by a stretch of track that traversed the woods with their beautiful fall colors, then hugged past Unity Pond, through a swampy area (where we were treated to three lovely herons flying past), and across a railroad bridge before stopping to turn around and head back. All the while we pedaled steadily, getting exercise as well as a fun ride through the woods. When we did reach that halfway point, I was disappointed - it all goes by so quickly! The entire trip takes an hour or so. It's not a difficult pedal, though there are some slight grades (remember, these are train tracks, and trains don't do well going up and down hills). I think that if the group (there were five couples, including us) were having trouble keeping up, our guide would have slowed down to accommodate us. But if you're looking for a strenuous workout, you won't find it here. We enjoyed the ride, spent some time together laughing, talking and taking in the scenery - great activity for a beautiful autumn day in Maine. Longer would have been better for us, but Logan did say that a longer ride is planned for October!

Supposedly because, as they said, I left a lot of trash in the room. I had a small family birthday party for my son and cleaned up the room, even bringing my own trash bags to do so. I was puzzled & assumed it was a mistake so I reached out to management and received an email back saying that I had taken advantage of their no locals policy. Apparently they don't rent rooms to locals, but bent the rules for me, unbeknownst to me. No one EVER told me that this was a policy. If it was a policy, to not rent locals, then why in the world would they have rented to me? The whole situation is just bizarre. I've spent a lot of money at this hotel over the years and this is the thanks I get. So if you're local I guess you're not allowed to stay at this hotel, but they probably won't tell you that and may rent to you anyway. ?? Warning to locals- you're not allowed here, or maybe you are, or maybe sometimes? Great management. Thanks Fireside. Very nice. I cleaned that room thoroughly when I left, as I always do. If you're local they'll turn on you I guess. I'm still just stunned by this. I never had any issues in all the years I've stayed here, ever.
