We walked by this patisserie our first day in San Sebastian, had a cafe con leche and croissant, and were instantly hooked. The croissants are some of the best I've ever had - perfectly flaky, perfect circular layers in the cross-section, and the chocolate croissant is amazing. The extra touch of dipping the ends in high-quality chocolate create a perfect ratio of chocolate to croissant (for this chocoholic). If you are sitting outside, the chocolate will even become a bit melty as you nibble. Amazing. Their English isn't great, but you can get by with pointing at anything that looks good. Some pastries were too sweet and rich for me, but the croissants never failed. It was even worth grabbing one to eat on our hike up Mount Urgull, leaving a little trail of flaky crumbs.

Just when you think you have had enough you come across this place and decided that its ok to stuff more food down. Worth it? Um yea. just do it. and then walk another mile to help ease the guilt.

This is for their Heladería stand only. I was craving ice cream, and despite it being a little on the chilly side, I was determined to find it. We stumbled across this after walking through the Old Town, and I was so pleased to find this! I opted for a scoop of the dulce de leche, while my husband had the arroz con leche. Service was super friendly and we were able to order in English. The stand is cash only, so be prepared with coins or bills.

Great little spot in town to sit down for a coffee (and pastry) break. I've had their Vasco tart and their croissants - both fresh and flaky. Not dry at all. They have a large selection of traditional pastries and they coffee was up to par. Great way to take a break from shopping.

This place is awesome- had an amazing lemon tart, mini eclair, and some other pastry I don't know the name of. All were 10/10. Would return without a doubt.

Vasco and another traditional Spanish pastry.

Items Selected: Mille Feuille…read moreParis Brest Butter Croissant Mini Chocolate Croissant Apricot Cake Cream Donut Part of a group of independently owned Basque bakeries collectively flying under the Ogi Berri Bread Company banner, Pasteleria Okindegia on Kalea Usandizaga was selected for road snacks en route to Bordeaux, and with some of the friendliest service encountered in all of San Sebastian the compilation of six French and Spanish pastries was not only a bargain at just €8.65, but for the most part also quite good. Small like most bakeries of Europe, the standing space flanked on three sides by cases, tables, and racks with no less than fifty items up for offer, it was to Spanish-only service from a duo of older women that inquiries were directed and doing my best to interpret gestures and descriptions the eventual order was boxed and wrapped with a great deal of attention, each item easily withstanding the subsequent three hour drive and a wait in the car during lunch, only the Brest suffering from any sog, though the whipped cream filling really did it no favors to begin with. Faring far better with options including an American style donut, the same cream here not having as notable an effect on brioche as it did on choux, it was admittedly slightly disappointing the same exact filling was used within puff pastry layers of the Mille Feuille, but with a crisp shatter to fork as well as tooth any complaints were quickly set aside considering the quality of each bite, the large slab ringing in just shy of $2 US. Happy to see some smaller options offered, both the butter croissant and two-bite chocolate version well-crafted though not quite on par with Galparsoro, the sampling ended with a sugar slicked roll flavored with fruit, and with a soft crumb something like coffee cake with a bit more moisture the flavor was indeed quite sweet, the jammy apricot center not dissimilar to the texture of pate de fruit.

Very nice bakery, bread is crispy and done with organic flour. Better value than Baranexte or other…read morebakery chains. They also sell very nice local pastries and ice cream. to try if you are staying around Bueno Pastor area.
