The hubs said it was one of the freshest things he's had in his life. Even being jetlagged, I could really taste how creamy it was. It wasn't until later in the day that eating my leftover portion that I could appreciate it even more. I love prosciutto! And this crepe sandwich was simple but hit just the right spots. Okay. It could have used more prosciutto IMO, but it was really tasty. The mozzarella, arugula, and tomato were so yummy. Simple and delicious!

Cut to my very large "snack" sandwich. It actually did travel well. It took me a bit to get back to my hotel and then a little longer to sit down and eat it. Don't worry, I tried a bite when I first got it as a base line for later. I held up OK. Obviously it is best when it is first toasted/pressed but it was decent as take away as well. For about $11, a steal for a meal! Gastronomica also has a little stand in another location within Borough Market where they sell sweets. Wanting to end my food journey with something sweet I opted for 2 mini cannolis: vanilla and pistachio. The vanilla was really sugary sweet. It took a minute to eat it even thought it was small. The pistachio was less sweet but even with the end covered in real pistachios, I missed the pistachio flavor. Perhaps my tastebuds were tired after all of the different food.

Only a Philly native is going to know if a copy of the famous Philly Cheesesteak is up to scratch…read moreagainst the original. Now, don't be fooled into comparing this London incarnation to the 2 famous Philly Cheesesteak venues because those 2 spots are tourist traps. You want to compare this to the 'hood joints where you get your sammiches & these guys are well up to scratch!! The meat is in abundance & while I'm not so sure these are authentic Amoroso rolls, they are pretty darn close. Things your cheesesteak should be...Cooked using water - yup, oil is not used in the hoody versions; have a mouth-watering smell of flavour when you unwrap it. Hot, flavourful; meat, cheese and onions should become one unit of deliciousness. These are defo delicious but didn't have the steam aroma when I unwrapped it & they're cooked using oil but were not greasy - thank goodness. Original cheesesteaks may be cooked with mushrooms or hots and the ketchup and/or mustard are added before the meat goes onto the roll. These guys don't offer those varieties but I assure you, these are darn good versions of my beloved Philly Original. I noticed they're offering the Philly pork sandwich so I'll be back to sample that too. Well done guys, very well done! P.S. If in the future you can master the Philly Cheesesteak Hoagie, you'll get an instant 5 Star review.

So I was quite surprised when I saw Liberty Cheesesteak in the listing of places at the Yelp Red event. Immediately I started Googling and found out that a) they looked like some tasty cheesesteaks and b) that I wasn't going to be able to try it until at the Yelp event. My other half was able to try it out though before the event and was suitably impressed. I was so excited to try and eagerly went for my cheesesteak taster and thought, meh. It's fine but a bit dry or something. My husband though insisted it was just because of the making-ahead-bulk-nature of trying to feed eleventy million hungry Yelpers at once and that it was better fresh. So today I hopped on a bus at lunchtime to go to the Mayfair Market at Brown Hart Gardens. Never had been there before and I was impressed with the location - up a flight of stairs, but loads and loads of seating and generally relaxed, with a handful of food choices. Of course for me there was no choice, just meeeeaaaattttt. I found the tiny stand and determined that no one was queuing to order, and eagerly placed my order for a half with onions and cheese whiz. There were about 10 orders ahead of me but the line cleared quickly and I soon had my sandwich. There was a small mix up and I ended up with a whole instead of a half. Such mistakes are fine by me! I was rewarded for my persistence. The meat was well seasoned with a nice peppery taste, and the Italian roll soft but chewy in a nice way. The onions were soft but not sweet, and the whiz was savoury and salty and unhealthy tasting, just like I wanted. 2 tiny niggles were that I had a couple of pieces of meat that could have been trimmed a bit better - but I'm a complete fuss pot and no one else would probably notice. And I would have liked more cheese. But I always want more cheese, and I'm sure if I asked for heavy on the cheese next time that I wouldn't be denied. Definitely better than the cheesesteak I had in Philadelphia from Geno's. Now to just figure out how to follow them around and be a cheesesteak groupie without seeming like a weirdo...

Bringing great food companies / stalls together, great bars with interesting drinks all in a custom made venue... Sounds fantastic... But I have to say that the shine really has faded. I went to the Oktoberfest after winning tickets (although it was so crowded, we had a beer and left without tasting the food), and then the opening night after winning tickets with Time Out, It's on my doorstep, so I was pretty excited...However whilst this meant we got few free drinks (and the frontier beer was amazing!), this didn't sway me. Okay if you're going to a nice restaurant you pay for good food and the vibe - but this is a 'street feast', of small vendors... and frankly while the food is very adventurous... street food shouldn't be the same price as restaurant food... I find it too expensive - especially considering you'll need to pay to enter (£3) after 7pm - and a touch pretentious. We tried: Bob's Lobster's Cheese and Lobster - this came as a small sandwich and all for £10. I really disliked the cheap American cheese they used. Spit and Roast £12 for steak (that was chewy and we couldn't cut with the plastic knives they gave us), fries (quite soggy) and bone marrow. Milk and Honey Mercury Bar for a £9 cocktail that was a bit haphazard (the barman admitted he had never made it before, and whilst I'd like to give him the benefit for this, shouldn't he know what he's making rather than reading it off of a card?) The bar was also really sticky and they practically ignored us when we wanted to pay. The only place I liked was the whisky bar - but then I love whisky so that explains that. I used to be a massive fan, but I think it's lost a lot of its charm of being great food and drink and whilst it's a great concept, I don't think I'll be a regular.
