The market area is mostly covered by tall ceiling structures, giving a small reprieve if it's raining, but it has an open air feel. What's funny about this market is that you can find local options or favorites from back home. There's a shake shack right in the center of the market, but you can find smaller craft eateries spread around. There are also different places to get a cup of hot mulled wine or hot chocolate and you'll find the long lines for Ben's cookies nearby! If you are coming to Covent Garden via the tube, know that this tube station is a wreck! It's incredibly busy and unless you want to walk up an endless flight of stairs, you'll need to wait and pack in like sardines into the elevator.

This Soho venture runs every Saturday from 9-4. It's not the largest market but has a nice variety of stalls, selling a mixture of cooked food - porchetta sandwiches, roasted organic chicken, ice cream, cup cakes, power snacks - to fresh produce, cheese and meat. Ventures like this give me hope that we're slowly turning the tide against soul-lesss corporations, over-processed food and battery farming techniques.

However, if you work/live nearby or are passing through King's Cross area, it's definitely a pleasant place to stop by and stock up on some delicious ingredients or a quick lunch. I saw at least two good looking fromageries, a mouth watering charcuterie (with ready to eat portions on display too, so you can stock up your pantry and have a quick lunch at the same time), a stand with tasty smoked salmon, and other standard market evergreens like quiche, baked goods and pastries galore. This small version of The Real Food Market (a larger version used to exist on the Southbank but this has recently been replaced by The Southbank Centre Market). When it was on the Southbank, the Real Food Market had many stalls with prepared food. This market isn't zoned to serve hot food so all of the stalls are either selling raw ingredients (cured meats/fish/cheese, sweet and savory baked goods) or cold meals (scotch eggs/savoury pastries/pies). Being that it is very near my house, I find myself Favorite retailers: Crosstown Doughnuts- the creme brulee doughnut. enough said. The Flour Station-huge selection of delicious sourdough bread and other baked goods Outsider Tart-amazing brownie bar concoctions (see separate review) Cannon & Cannon Fine Foods- tasty charcuterie (see separate review) Also: The guy selling meat pies (the sausage rolls look delish too) The guy selling smoked salmon (it's heavenly but too expensive) I will mark this market down a star, only because all the vendors are far more costly than I would normally shell out for their goods. The exception to this is the few prepared food options for lunch available--they're pretty standard at around a fiver for lunch. But given that it's so close to home and convenient, I know that I end up caving and paying up at least one day per week of this market's Wednesday/Thursday/Friday run.

It was fairly small, but could have used some extra water to cut the lemon, so we weren't mad it was on the tiny side. The passage itself had enough space to comfortably walk down and we loved checking out the different higher-end vendors and their wares. Overall I'd definitely recommend dropping by if you're in the area.

The stalls are mainly fruit and veg with the sellers calling out their wares as you would imagine happening in the archetypal English market. The quality of fruit can vary, so be discerning. There are also stalls selling flowers, bags, odd electrical items, a fishmonger and a creperie. Mu favourite is the stall selling nuts and little snacks like Japanese crackers. It's can be found towards the northern end of the market. There's a good selection often with little pots available for tasters. The chap who runs the stall is also very helpful with suggestions if you're not sure what to get. I wonder if Berwick Street Market will survive Westminster Council's revolution. We had just visited Westminster Abbey down the street, and my wife told me about a great street market that we could stop at for lunch. She had studied abroad in London and knew her way around the city pretty well. There were so many delicious-sounding food vendors that we had trouble picking. I decided to order from a Middle Eastern food vender called Falafel Zaki Zaki. I ordered "The Whole Shebang Wrap" which was stuffed with falafel, eggplant (aubergine), salad, hot peppers, pickled vegetables and white sauce. Just as I was about to take a picture of the delicious wrap, the vendor posed for the shot and had me cracking up. That wrap was so good!! My wife found a cool Indian street food vendor and ordered some Samosas and a side of Chicken with Rice. We ended up sharing all of our food and were very happy with our choices. We'll definitely stop again on our next trip to London.

Things your cheesesteak should be...Cooked using water - yup, oil is not used in the hoody versions; have a mouth-watering smell of flavour when you unwrap it. Hot, flavourful; meat, cheese and onions should become one unit of deliciousness. These are defo delicious but didn't have the steam aroma when I unwrapped it & they're cooked using oil but were not greasy - thank goodness. Original cheesesteaks may be cooked with mushrooms or hots and the ketchup and/or mustard are added before the meat goes onto the roll. These guys don't offer those varieties but I assure you, these are darn good versions of my beloved Philly Original. I noticed they're offering the Philly pork sandwich so I'll be back to sample that too. Well done guys, very well done! P.S. So I was quite surprised when I saw Liberty Cheesesteak in the listing of places at the Yelp Red event. Immediately I started Googling and found out that a) they looked like some tasty cheesesteaks and b) that I wasn't going to be able to try it until at the Yelp event. My other half was able to try it out though before the event and was suitably impressed. I was so excited to try and eagerly went for my cheesesteak taster and thought, meh. It's fine but a bit dry or something. My husband though insisted it was just because of the making-ahead-bulk-nature of trying to feed eleventy million hungry Yelpers at once and that it was better fresh. So today I hopped on a bus at lunchtime to go to the Mayfair Market at Brown Hart Gardens. Never had been there before and I was impressed with the location - up a flight of stairs, but loads and loads of seating and generally relaxed, with a handful of food choices. Of course for me there was no choice, just meeeeaaaattttt. I found the tiny stand and determined that no one was queuing to order, and eagerly placed my order for a half with onions and cheese whiz. There were about 10 orders ahead of me but the line cleared quickly and I soon had my sandwich. There was a small mix up and I ended up with a whole instead of a half. Such mistakes are fine by me! I was rewarded for my persistence. The meat was well seasoned with a nice peppery taste, and the Italian roll soft but chewy in a nice way. The onions were soft but not sweet, and the whiz was savoury and salty and unhealthy tasting, just like I wanted. 2 tiny niggles were that I had a couple of pieces of meat that could have been trimmed a bit better - but I'm a complete fuss pot and no one else would probably notice. And I would have liked more cheese. But I always want more cheese, and I'm sure if I asked for heavy on the cheese next time that I wouldn't be denied. Definitely better than the cheesesteak I had in Philadelphia from Geno's. Now to just figure out how to follow them around and be a cheesesteak groupie without seeming like a weirdo...
