Carrie Broadus refused to renew our lease after I got a better job so it was going to be easier for…read moreus to pay our rent after I was unemployed for several months. Because she refused to renew our lease, we ended up homeless from April 2024 to February 2025. The weekend that we were supposed to move out, I was so extremely stressed out that I passed out and called 911 so that an ambulance could take me to the ER. When I passed out, I scraped my head on some wooden furniture as I fell to the floor so I was concerned about having a concussion. So we were unable to move out that day. That was a Friday. We move all of our furniture out the next day, a Saturday. We spent the rest of Saturday moving our stuff out. On Sunday, we were able to get 1 load of stuff out of our duplex. After dropping that stuff off at a storage unit, we stopped at a convenience store to get me some Power Aid to make sure I was hydrated because that was one of the reasons that I passed out. When we got back to the duplex to finish gathering the rest of our things, sentimental belongings from my parents, including a Dyson vacuum cleaner that I got from my mom and stuff that my dad had given me before he passed away. But Carrie had changed the locks on the door to the duplex so we were unable to get the rest of our belongings, even though I provided her proof that I was in the ER on Friday when we were supposed to be moving out. We're victims of domestic violence that's still happening today. As I said before, we lost my daddy very unexpectedly a few years before. My former "brother" is a major narcissist. I'm always comparing him to David Koresh because of his brainwashing capabilities and his ginormous fake persona. He moved my mom halfway across the country from us, to South Carolina. We haven't been able to talk to her in over 2 years now. She has dementia and his plan was for her to forget us and it's working. So losing things that she gave us before she was moved so far away from us is heartbreaking as well. But Carrie and McDougal don't care!!!!! I seriously do NOT recommend renting from them!!!!! We won't be notified when my mom passes and we can't go to her memorial service for our safety. We seriously need to move from Lubbock for our safety but we can't afford to move and all organizations that claim they help victims of domestic violence refuse to help us. We won't even get my inheritance. David Koresh Jr. is using it to pay for her extremely expensive assisted living facility in Myrtle Beach. He's lied to everyone who works there about me and they refuse to let me talk to my mom. But as typical with narcissists, he changes everything to make me out to be the villain and to make him out to be the victim. And no, we can't afford a lawyer to help us.

When I lost my job in August of 2025, I was still able to pay our rent. But we weren't able to pay for our utilities and a couple of extra things that Minnex charges all of their tenants for whether you want them or not. They lied to the owner of the duplex that we're renting, and told them that we weren't paying our rent to get us evicted. Thankfully we had some help that prevented that from happening. They are frequently overcharging me every month but they refuse to tell me what the extra charges are for. The last time I emailed them asking what the extra are for, they lied to me about what the charges are for and then they added almost $100 of charges for utilities that I've already paid for and have proof that I've already paid for those utilities. They're trying to charge me for the past 5 months for utilities that I've already paid for. We can't afford all of these extra random charges in the first place but not knowing what the charges are even for is extremely suspicious. If you submit a maintenance request, they'll charge you around $100 for sending someone there, even if they don't do anything at all. I had no clue that I'm supposed to change the filter for my a/c and heater unit. Our heater stopped working in December so I submitted a maintenance request for it. They sent a guy here who told me that I need to replace the filter. That's all he did. They charged me $100 for that. In June, after we've lived here for a year and a half, we didn't have hot water anymore. They sent a guy here to tell me that our gas was turned off. Minnex turned it off but still sent someone here to tell me our gas was turned off. Another $100. They lied and said that I was supposed to set up an account with Atmos to pay our gas bill when we first moved in. They never told me that. We paid Minnex for our gas for a year and a half. It was never turned off until that time. If we were supposed to set up an account with Atmos and pay them all along, our gas would've been turned off a long time ago instead of after a year and a half. They said it's in my lease, but it's not. Then they sent someone with Atmos here the next day to turn our gas back on. Another $100. Now that I've set up an account with Atmos, I have to pay Atmos about $150 for the new account. We don't want to submit maintenance requests anymore because of how much extra they charge for sending someone here, even if they don't do anything. They also charge us $25 a month for a discount program that we don't want but we have to pay for it. And we don't use it. One time a next door neighbor left a mattress leaning up against our gate. They tried to charge us $75 twice for it. I provided proof twice that it wasn't ours and explained that the neighbors left it leaning up against the fence next to our duplex. They still tried to charge us twice for it. I thought I prevented it from happening but since they're constantly overcharging us random things and refuse to explain what extra charges are for, they probably ended up charging us for it anyway. When I've requested a breakdown of how much I've paid on my utilities in the past, they refused to provide it, saying that they can't because it's allocated. I'm a outpatient with Star Care and when my caseworker there asked for a breakdown of what we've paid for our utilities, they still refused to provide what we've paid every month, saying again they can't provide it because our utilities are allocate because we live in a duplex. There's absolutely no reason to refuse to provide how much I've already paid for our utilities. They do this so that they can charge whatever they want to charge and get away with it. Minnex also adds late fees to my bill before it's even the first of the month, before late charges are supposed to be added to my bill. I think late charges are suppose to be added on the 3rd of each month but they've always added late fees before the 1st of the month. Before I was able to use a payment system called Flex, I'd pay half of my rent with one paycheck and the rest with the next paycheck, they'd add excessive late fees and they were always threatening to evict us at least once a month. I don't recommend anyone renting from Minnex. At the time, we didn't have a choice but we do now. Even when we moved in to this duplex, they were unfair to us. Apparently the previous tenants didn't turn in their mailbox keys so I had to pay $30 to get new mailbox keys because they had to change the lock. I had nothing to do with the previous tenants not turning in their keys. Minnex refused to pay for it and they said that if I wanted to get our mail, I had to pay for the new keys.

PET OWNERS PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU MOVE IN…read more Our experience living at the Yorkshire duplex was fine, for the most part. Maintenance was ok (sometimes a bit slow to respond, sometimes tried to gain entry even when I hadn't granted access, and sometimes cut corners with repairs, but it was always done). When we moved in, there was water damage in 2 of the 3 bedrooms (so much so that the ceiling in the room below fell out), and in 1 of the 2 bathrooms. We did get refunded for the days that we were unable to use the full house. It also hadn't been cleaned when we moved in, so we had to wait while they did that the day after we moved in. The space itself is nice though; big open floor plan, tall ceilings, 2 car garage, and a backyard with a privacy fence. We had no issues with noise from fellow neighbors, so that's a plus. Yard maintenance is included, so is internet and cable. But here's where things go south... If you have a pet, you'll be required to sign an addendum that says if there's damage to the carpeting after you move out, they'll replace it at your expense (see attached image). We didn't think much of it at first because we have a dog who's completely potty trained, he's crated when we're not home, he rings doggie doorbells to go potty outside, and we even had a baby gate on our staircase so he didn't even ever see the carpeted upstairs! And still when we moved out we got charged $1745 to replace the carpeting when we moved out! They do NOT lift the carpets when you move in to prove that the carpets are clean and free of stains when you move in... so these must be stains from previous tenants and they are using them over and over again to scam new tenants into paying for stained carpets that they never actually replace! How would we get pet stains in bedrooms that our dog NEVER EVEN SET FOOT IN?! We have an impeccable rental history with all previous rentals verifying our dog has never damaged, stained, or defecated inside their properties... and now AG Rentals claims he's made $1745 worth of damages? Damages worth more than a month's rent?! Unreal! What an incredibly deceiving way to get more money out of you after you move out. So pet owners PLEASE BEWARE! Make sure you pull up the carpeting yourself when you move in if you need to and see if it's stained and take photos... We sure wish we had!!! ETA: Thank you Tricia for your email and response to this review. Apparently my review wasn't clear enough. Readers, we had baby gates installed at the top and bottom of the staircase, so our pets were PHYSICALLY barred of going upstairs. Our pets never saw the inside of the upstairs bedrooms. In addition, we kept the doors closed at all times because one was a baby's room. AG Rentals can exaggerate all they want but the "photos of excessive cat hair" refers to one photo of one (singular) small ball of fur on the vinyl flooring... Which we would've cleaned but AG Rentals policy is that no one has to clean on move out because the new tenant pays for a move-in cleaning fee.

My previous rentals were kind of nightmarish, and so having a very professional staff is a nice change. Anytime I have a maintenance request, the turnaround is QUICK, like 24 hours quick. I could put in a request on Monday and someone is either out that same day or the next, without fail. My AC unit was on its last leg and was not cooling properly. Outside temps were 100+ They sent techs out quickly and they did all they could, but the AC unit had to be replaced. AC company submitted their proposal and it was approved right away. They came out and swapped out the unit 2 days later. Done and Done. I also love that they when they do an inspection, they give you ample notice (like weeks out) and let you pick a block of times that are convenient for you, if you choose to be there. The inspections are also less than 10 minutes! Quick like a bunny! Love it! I honestly have never had such great service renting a property, EVER. Paying rent is absolutely hassle free, and any questions I have are answered FAST.
