Julie is a FANTASTIC therapist…read more When I came upon her website, I was going through a very difficult, confusing time in my life where everything was coming to a head and the realization that I really couldn't work through it alone was not an easy one to swallow. I had contacted a few other therapists via email and contact forms on the internet and not a single one replied. Even though I wanted and needed to see someone, I was terrified. When I tried calling around to find someone, I would freak out and couldn't hang up fast enough even though it was just voicemail. One office with a lot of therapists wanted to wait list me, but nobody else returned my calls. When I saw Julie's webpage and read a bit about her, I could feel the panic dissipate some and I had a strong feeling that she was the one I was meant to see - even though she's a 30 minute drive (generally 45 because of i5 traffic at the time I see her). Julie replied to my email in record time. From the greeting and very first sentence, my feeling was confirmed. I was immediately happy instead of freaked out that she had a flexible schedule with time slots available that fit for me. I guess I was a little surprised as well because in my email to her I gave 4-5 specific topic matters that I knew would be big points during therapy (when and IF I decided to see someone) and she wasn't phased by what I'm dealing with. You harbor secrets and shame for so long that when telling someone for the first time, or even just someone that didn't already know, makes you imagine what their reaction may be to this horrid information.. and of course, you always think the worst. We tend to feel like nobody really understands - even others that went through the same things. Julie was able to schedule me for an appt, that was not long after our initial contact, to do the free intake session. I was very pleased that the first session was free so that I could be sure before making a commitment both emotionally and monetarily. When I arrived for the intake, the anxiety had begun to build up inside of me again and it took a lot of reasoning with myself to even get out of the car. As soon as she said "hello", I immediately began to relax. She offered me water and had tissue within reach of the comfortable sofa I was sitting in. (I say 'in' rather than on because it is very comfortable and welcoming). The atmosphere was soothing; beautiful in an understated way, with a "homey" feel. I imagine psychologists are taught lessons pertaining specifically to ambiance and that what Julie has put together is what others strive for. Fortunately, though; it all feels as though it came natural to her.. like she didn't have to TRY. In the past, I had seen two other therapists for short periods of time - one had over-the-top, blatantly expensive decor with gold accents and a hauty feel (he also wore a lot of bright yellow gold.. lol); the other was a small room in a converted basement that you went down a narrow set of stairs to get to with little more than a stiff, old antique chair and dusty books where the ceiling was too short for your average sized male and there was no door. Julie's office is just right, with unobtrusive bits of art and natural beauty that bring subtle relaxation. (IOW - Ya done good, Julie! Hahaa..) She is a great listener and has an amazing talent for remembering what you said 10 minutes ago, or even in sessions past, and connecting it will something you've said in the now. She doesn't do that dry, bored, not-sure-what-to-say or make-you-come-to-the-conclusion-yourself "why don't you tell me?"/"is that what YOU think?" bit EVERY TIME. She encourages, listens, reminds and helps me through things. She actually works for her money (which seems rare in any field these days), but it has never come across to me as 'work' for her at all. Sessions with Julie are like a long talk with a friend that actually cares what you have to say and how you're doing rather than perching in wait for her turn to talk. I never feel rushed and I always leave Julie's office feeling like we've made progress. She is flexible and easy-going, pleasant and intuitive, with a good sense of humor, great use of words, is insightful and wise beyond her years. I would proudly and happily *highly* recommend Julie Holt to anyone in search of a therapist. This isn't just a job, or even just a career, to her - its a calling, and I'm glad she followed her heart. Thanks, Julie. :) And I hope your Christmas is beautiful and the New Year bring you abundant amounts of joy and fulfillment. God Bless.

When received (late I will add) she immediately told me that she is a Psychologist and not a Psychiatrist. She then went on to say she will bill my insurance the absolute MAXIMUM amount possible even though she isn't the person I requested to see. She shuffled me out of her office within 4 minutes of arrival. My insurance company (Blue Cross Blue Shield) refused to pay her. While I have a "Gold Package" BCBS is no fool and refuses to work with her and her exploitative billing. I contacted my insurance provider and they claim that she has discrepancies in her billing and to avoid her practice. I recall her pointedly stating she plans on billing the maximum rate even though no service was rendered. Now, she is sending me threatening emails demanding $220 for her 4 minute appointment which consisted of her sending me away. I have received her 5th letter DEMANDING payment for "services" and threatening collections. This practice is exploitative and something of a con. I will gladly delete this message if the Dr. drops this exploitative bill and acknowledges the petty corruption of her practice. AVOID this practice while this message is on yelp. Even IF my insurance didn't see the scam for what it was, do not encourage medical professionals who openly scam your insurance company and force increased premiums. * I have copies of the ridiculous bills threatening collections if anyone would care to see proof. Contact me for more information if necessary.

My therapist is flexible with how I wanted to approach coaching, even if it's a little different from other patients, and we're going through the Harvard Adult ADHD guide. I'm experiencing greater productivity and organization and my treatment program has been quite effective. I have zero complaints and the staff has always been very understanding and flexible with me when I have to reschedule. I see a lot of other reviews re: getting kids registered for diagnosis and as the parent of a kid w/ AdHd, my experience has been that diagnosis is always a long process. Way longer than you think it should take as a parent. Even if everything happens as quickly as possible. I wouldn't blame this place for that.

I attended a year ago for about 3 months. I am sure this place has been helpful to some, but for…read moreme it was not a great experience. My primary complaint concerns their refusal to see my teenaged son, who was really struggling with the loss of his dad. They would not see him unless he attended group (even though individual services were part of their model). I had told the leaders he has a diagnosis of social anxiety and he would not do well in a group, could they see him individually first, then ease him into group. I even offered to have them speak to his psychiatrist (which they did not do). They absolutely refused and told me if he is not in group he gets no services. As for my personal experience, while I agree that everyone's grief is unique, I found the group to be way too diverse in experience. My husband died after a five year battle with cancer, but I was in a group of people who had lost their spouse to suicide, murder, while committing a crime, tragic accidents, etc. And no individual counseling is available unless you are in group (see above). You HAVE to attend group. When someone did join and shared her experience that was similar to mine, and a few of us reacted emotionally to that, the group leader did nothing to check in with me to see if I was OK. I was really upset, and she did nothing then or even after the meeting to contact me. As far as I can tell, no one seems to know (or care) that I did not return. This is really too bad, as it is super hard to find grief services in Seattle. All I can say is find out first how diverse the group is before joining and also don't bring your kid here.

On the clinical side, I have nothing but positive things to say. Dr. Enns was fantastic to work with, and the appointment itself went very smoothly. If you are looking for professional, high-quality care, the doctor is excellent. However, the administrative process was incredibly frustrating. I was initially told to expect an appointment within two weeks of school district approval, but it ended up taking over a month. Communication was consistently poor; Phone calls were never answered. I was forced to call several different people within the office just to try and get a response. When I finally reached Melissa, her excuse? she "dropped the ball." Furthermore, I had to contact a nurse (I found online contact info) who works in the office just to get a message to her, and it was only after the nurse intervened that she finally reached out. Email communication was just as difficult. My messages were frequently ignored or delayed for weeks, and I often found myself having to copy the school district on my emails just to receive a response. While the service provided by the doctor was top-tier, the difficulty in scheduling and the lack of basic administrative responsiveness made an already stressful process much harder. I would recommend the practice for their clinical work, but I hope they significantly improve their office communication so other families don't have to go through the same ordeal.

Originally, I booked an appointment with Carolann because I was interested in trying to lose weight using hypnotherapy. After meeting or talking on the phone with half a dozen hypnotherapists, I settled on Carolann because she came across as genuine, caring, empathetic, and an experienced professional. Plus, she had a soothing voice which I thought would be perfect for hypnotherapy sessions (call her and you'll see!). Shortly after I began working with her, I ended up going through an unexpected and traumatic life experience that lasted two years. Carolann served as my therapist during that time and I credit her with keeping me sane. She provided me with a safe space to vent/process. She also was a caring and empathetic listener who asked insightful and thoughtful questions which helped me grow, become more self-aware, and better cope with my situation. And finally, she served as my unwavering champion during this time period, and I so appreciated her warmth, empathy, and support. It has been over two years since I last saw her and I still find myself drawing on some of the tools/insights she taught me. That traumatic life experience is behind me now (which I'm thankful for) but as strange as it sounds, I'm grateful for the experience because it brought Carolann into my life. I'm a better and more healthy person today because of her. She helped me understand myself better, taught me how to tap into my inner-strength, gave me the courage to be vulnerable and lean on my support network, and she showed me how to deal with life's challenges in a positive manner. Whether you're seeking a hypnotherapist or in need of personal therapy, I can't recommend Carolann enough. She's truly an amazing and gifted therapist.
