Billie and Michelle are two of the best people in the group - the staff is so very kind and wonderful. The only downfall is Dr. Robert Howen - his bedside manner and behavior toward patients is deplorable. He's a real jerk. Unfortunately he's the one who will perform ultrasound on you; however there are other options. I went elsewhere to get my ultrasound performed by real professions. Therefore new moms...you don't have to subject yourself to Dr. Robert Howen's behavior. He acts as if you are wasting HIS time during YOUR pregnancy. So much for medical oaths and professionalism. I gave this place 4 stars because despite a bad apple like Robert Howen there are amazing doctors like Dr. Carol Nakashima and fantastic staff like Billie RN and Michelle at the front desk!!!

From the moment I arrived, the entire office felt welcoming. Her staff was kind and attentive, and her medical assistant Janet was especially sweet and caring, which immediately put me at ease. Dr. Mattheis herself was warm, attentive, and incredibly respectful. She truly listened to all of my concerns without rushing me, and I felt heard, validated, and cared for in a way that is sadly rare in healthcare. Her bedside manner is exceptional, and she treats you like a whole person, not just a chart. Sutter has absolutely won the doctor lottery with Dr. Mattheis. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind, the kind of gynecologist/OB you immediately feel grateful to have found. I highly recommend her and feel so relieved knowing I am in such capable and caring hands.

Also bonus tip: she told me about Poop Like a Champion cereal which is a lifesaver when pregnant

I wouldn't say the doctor was particularly compassionate, but we felt listened-to and didn't feel rushed. The follow-up/consultation appointment they gave us was months out, so we may find another doctor. I like that they have a patient portal and Healow online check-in, but we had technical issues with both. At the Lodi location that day, the staff was friendly and the appearance of the office was decent. We got there before noon on a winter day and the WAITING ROOM was stuffy. I counted about 14 chairs, but it felt small. I forget how long we waited, but it didn't feel excessive. My CO2 monitor showed over 1000ppm when we barely arrived and got up to 1945ppm in the patient room when we left (bad ventilation). The PARKING lot was busy, but luckily there's an entrance on both sides of the Loid building--you have to go upstairs (stairs or elevator) and down a hallway to get to the office. Our GPS directions weren't that clear, so we thought these offices might be connected to the hospital next door, but they're not (probably accessible through the same parking lot though). It's a boxy tan/cream-colored building with a generic title like "Lodi Medical Plaza" or "Medical Offices."

I went home and did everything I could to try to have my baby natural but it was already to late. Still having abdominal and back pain and Dr. Maria Escalona basically laughed in my face and told me my surgery was in April that it's not possible to have pain. I told her my back really hurts because of the epidural I still feel numb sometimes she laughed and said "that's not possible." Like do you have my body, do you feel what I feel? Epidural fucks you up and your telling me it doesn't? I also, explained my abdominal pain and postpartum she therefore said "then don't have kids" like this is professionalism? I therefore asked her if I could be evaluated for work because I still struggle with day to day activities and even carrying my baby hurts and she said she couldn't sign it I proceeded to stand up to leave and she's like wait you need another appointment I replied with I already have one set. Why would I want to come see you again if your denying my pain? Save yourself the hassle and look for another clinic. We deserve to be herd not laughed at and especially during postpartum.

She was so helpful throughout my entire pregnancy up until delivery. She had my best intentions in mind throughout the entire process. She made me feel good when I was feeling horrible etc. I actually looked forward to going and seeing her weekly before I went in to labor. When it came down to my delivery day, thankfully she was on call. I really don't know what would have happened that day had she not been there. Long story short, I had a c-section after weighing out my options. It was the safest thing for myself & most importantly, for my baby. And let me tell you, it was the best decision I have ever made! Example questions; I went off birth control and didn't have a cycle for 4 months, is this an issue? Are my current medicines and supplements potentially harmful? Should I be concerned about my fertility at my age (36)? Should we run tests? Is there anything else I should do to prepare for this? Am I high risk? Etc. His advice was patronizing, at best. He mentioned a prenatal vitamin (duh) but gave no specifics on good or recommended ones, and flippantly waived off my concern about my age and trying to conceive for the first time saying "so wait, you're not even trying yet? You wanted to discuss your fertility before you even start trying? the biggest issue with conceiving for women your age is that they worry so much about conceiving. Relax, have a drink...". Ok dude. I left feeling put off, none the wiser, and dismissed. Whatever, I didn't dwell on it at the time. After all, I can vote with my money and just not use this guy as my Ob/gyn. No harm no foul, or so I thought, until I got my bill. The doctor coded my appointment with a diagnosis of "fertility", and I was charged $309! Wow. So, soon to be pregnant women 35 and over, just a heads up based on my (admittedly) limited experience.

He asked us repeated times "so what are we doing here today?" Like we were supposed to direct him. Obviously the on call doctor had found my daughters's symptoms urgent enough to have her come in immediately. Even though my daughter was having"severe abdominal pain", Dr. Snyder did not examine my daughter at all or even look at her belly. I found him egotistical, condescending, and uncaring. My daughter was in tears when we left, having received no answers or reassurance. I stopped at the front desk and asked that we NEVER see Dr. Snyder again.
