My favorite old flannel shirt had a frayed collar but otherwise was in good condition. Brought it to Patricia and she was able to "turn" the collar and now it's like a "new" old comfortable friend. Patricia has replaced zipper's for me, put new binding on an old wool blanket and done alterations on trousers when they shrunk in the wash (or maybe I put on a few pounds) She is a gem. read more

This is a quaint little tailor shop and the heart of downtown St Paul in the US Bank building. Ms Patricia has been here for many years and she does an amazing job... In fact she's beyond amazing. This was an outfit that I bought the wrong size came I have a gala in less than a week I dropped it off to her on Monday She had it ready for me on Thursday She took in the skirt and took up the hem when I went in to try it after she did the initial alterations I wanted it taken in a little bit more and she did that within a couple of hours I came back that same day and picked up my outfit. Her prices are beyond reasonable and I was happy to pay an increased fee for a rush item. This is the second time I've been to Miss Patricia and needed something done in a rush three days or less and she obliged and her craftsmanship is amazing. This cute little shop reminds me of my grandmother's sewing nook whenever we needed anything darned, hemmed taken in or taken out she was happy to do it and that's exactly how Miss Patricia is. I would recommend her to anyone. She has altered several expensive and delicate garments for me as well as suits, blazers and blouses. Miss Patricia I'm quite sure could alter anything. read more

Having landed a new job in Saint Paul, I've taken to the skyways to reacquaint myself with the capitol city. Admittedly I was never a pro at navigating in StP but it is improving with time. Fortunately for me Patricia's Alterations is very close to my office, else I might never have found it. I came here on a day that wasn't going well for me. My jacket zipper and I had been feuding for weeks and the darn thing finally forced my hand. Literally. I ripped the teeth off the zipper like the bow off a gift box from the jewelry shop. There was no way that zipper would ever close again, which is a bad thing in January. The service I received was top-notch and very professional. So few people craft anymore and despite - my knowledge of embroidery and knitting - I cannot sew much beyond replacing a button. I am very grateful for the work and skill that was bestowed upon my jacket. The new zipper is not an exact match and, frankly, looks better than the original. For the record I was warned against ripping my zipper apart in the future (we both had a good laugh at that). If it happens, I'll know where to bring it! read more

Patricia did a great job hemming my dress, She is friendly and professional.

With a big wedding around the corner a dress I ordered had gotten lost in the mail and when it arrived the zipper was getting stuck with 3 people trying to zip it, and it eventually split once it was zipped all the way. I googled "tailors near me" and Patricia was the first person I called. She was kind and empathetic to my situation and was willing to rush the job for an extra $10 which was fine for me. Her work was timely and great. I could actually zip the dress by myself easily and the new zipper looked exactly like the original. She thought about things from many angles to save me money and give me options, while ensuring I felt secure wearing the dress. I would visit her again. read more

Got pants and a shirt altered. Also, I had two items sewn onto a shirt (required to be straight...). One item was straight as an arrow and the other not so much. The pants and shirt that were done were, ok... except I'm finding myself trimming exposed thread all over the place. It's just a bit of sloppy work. She is nice and does ok work but attention to detail is poor. read more

I had one really good experience and one really bad one. On my good one, there was a lot of construction involved with the pants and I was very impressed. But on the bad one, I was charged $40 and ended paying another tailor (Heimie's) to do the work right and they charged me $12 to fix and do the work right. Upon fixing they discovered that Patricia has probably never worked with a suit jacket with working button cuffs as she undid the lining and top stitched to corners together without sewing the lining back together. Basically she opened it up, realized she was out of her depth and stapled it back together. The tailors at Heimie's were appalled that a professional tailor had worked on this and fixed it so that the coat is wearable. Patricia also messed up with the hemming of the pants, leaving quite a bit of puckering around the legs. When I asked about it she said the puckering would iron out. I have never heard this but trusted her. After the tailors at Heimie's looked at it, the confirmed that this was not true and re-hemmed the pants so they look perfect too. Slightly further away but with better quality and price, I'd walk to Heimie's and have their experts take care of your tailoring needs. read more

Patricia is amazing at what she does. I have been using her alteration services for 7 years. She has been a lifesaver on projects of all kinds - from shortening the length of my husband's ski jacket sleeves (which looked super complex) to altering my wedding gown, to fixing all kinds of pants and shirts issues. I like to shop online, but sometimes the stuff I get a good deal on does not fit perfectly, so Patricia comes to the rescue every time. Her fees are very reasonable when you think about all of the work (and engineering) she has to do. I highly recommend Patricia's shop. read more

I've had nothing but good experiences with Patricia. After talking to her I learned she has been in the business for a LONG time, and she has done great work for me, including adjusting suit slacks, fixing zippers, etc. She often seems busy, particularly during lunch hour when many people are picking up or dropping off in the St. Paul skyway. She was very flexible with me in expediting an order for just a few extra bucks despite her busy schedule. She has a nice fitting room area, and before taking an order home she always makes sure I try on the clothes to make sure I'm happy with the work and the fit. Today I took in a suit jacket that is bowing out in the chest and she was honest and straightforward about what she could and couldn't do with it, and I can tell she takes great pride in her work and being a solo business owner. read more

Today I walked into to Patricia's Alterations and Tailoring shop with a rush job on a torn item that I had to wear in a theater production tonight. She immediately repaired the item. I told her I was willing to wait until the end of the day, but she thought it was something she could do promptly. Not only did she repair the damages (before my order of food came up across the hall), she took the time to look at the garment and repair other areas that I hadn't noticed. And I felt the price was fair. I left Patricia's Alterations and Tailoring feeling glad that she was conveniently located in the skyway near my office, providing a much needed service, promptly, with a quiet smile. Patricia has done several types of alterations and repairs for me over a period of about five years, and I have always been completely satisfied. She's very busy, so sometimes I have to leave something for several days, but that has never been a problem for me.
