I just moved to the area and stopped into Patriot for a cut before starting my new job next week. Incredibly disappointed with this cut. The lady had no skill and it felt like she had no idea what she was doing. Randomly taking the clippers and sizors in all directions. I asked for 1/2 inch off the top and a 1 medium fade on the sides and this is what I got. $21 is blaspblasphemy. I will wait a week and hopefully I can find a place to clean up this cut before I report to work. needless to say i will never come here again. read more

Walking into this barbershop felt good, the staff was polite and very welcoming. I had not planned on getting a haircut I entered with my brother in law and when asked if I wanted one lol I said I have no hair to cut, the lady there said "but you got a beard" I thought to myself: good point lol she sold me just like that and pointed to her colleague and I sat in a chair. Immediately the gentleman proceeded to ask me about my beard and how I would like it trimmed up. I was pleased and surprised by their hospitality. I immediately thanked him and he said "you haven't seen nothing yet" I was not disappointed, this man took me to beard heaven and back lol, the shaving cream was warm, it smelled great, the straight razor was smooth and sharp. He trimmed up my beard, and lined it up. I received a facial with a steamed towel and then he misted my face with a cool spritz, he slapped me around with some aftershave and I was ready to go. This has got to be Great Bridge's best-kept secret. I will be going here from now on to get my son's hair cut! There was a 3-minute wait. It was clean. Cong asked me how I wanted my son's hair. I told him and he did it perfect. I felt $18 was a little bit much for the cut, but no biggie. The only negative thing was they do not accept credit cards. CASH ONLY. They do have an ATM but its surcharge was $3.75. I wasn't happy about this but what to do? I would definitely recommend Patriot for all barber needs! read more

Not entirely sure what happened to this shop. It used to be my favorite place to go, but haven't been in about a year or two. I went tonight because I wanted a legit cut before going back to work after so long. The top of my head was maybe 5-6 inches long. I asked for half the length to be cut off, he left me with maybe half an inch of hair on the top and I think I'm being generous. I would've been better off going to super cuts or great clips. read more

This was the best haircut experience I've ever had in my life. Walked in, waited maybe 8 minutes as the gentlemen quickly cut 2 other customers hairs. I stepped into the chair, told the gentlemen exactly what I wanted, and he nailed it in maybe 5 minutes. Not only was it quick, but it's the best haircut I've ever had in my life. Kids cuts available as well. They use a combination of trimmers and scissors executing their craft. First time I every came to this place a guy was kicking the little American flags they had set up. A tiny little hair dresser about 110 lbs cone out and yells at the guy. He responded with profanity and derogatory comments about the USA. This tiny little lady proceeds to kick this guys ass right in the parking lot. I knew this was the place for me. My husband and son have been looking for a good place to get their hair cut since we moved to Chesapeake and came across Patriot. they decided to give them a try. my husbands hair turned out okay. However, they absolutely ruined my sons hair. He showed them exactly what he wanted and they cut it entirely too short in the front and on the sides and left the back long- so it looked like a mullet. We had to immediately take him to another barber shop to see if they could fix it without buzzing it all off. It's safe to say we will never be back nor would we recommend it to anybody. read more

Slight wait to get in a chair, but great service and a great cut. Took their time and made sure they knew exactly what I wanted.

To begin, this isn't a debate on how to discipline your child. I brought our almost three year old here to get a hair cut based on reviews. All started well until our son started to get wiggly and impatient. The barber (Cerita/Serrita) says to me,"you can spank him if you want. It won't bother me." I responded no. My son proceeded to get more agitated as the barber was less patient. I took him to the back to try to calm him to finish the cut and leave asap. When we came back to the chair, the barber says,"I can hold him down if you need to spank him." Moms get judged all the time. However, for a barber who offers "kids cuts" to speak like this is appalling. I'm not saying our son was perfect or didn't need to be disciplined, but this woman has no place speaking to customers like this. We absolutely will not be coming back here. read more

For some background, I am a mom of a middle school aged boy. No matter where we have lived coast to coast as a military family, I have tried to find my son a regular barber versus a unisex salon where you get a different stylist each time. I am a fan of the barbershop tradition because when we have found "the one" we are no longer forced to explain over and over again how he'd like it cut. I've learned that "a low cut fade, a 1 1/2 on top- cut with the grain, and a clean line all the way around" means one thing to one barber or stylist and another thing to another barber or stylist. Stylists also have the tendency (in my experience) to try to correct what they see as mistakes that a previous barber/stylist made. Having just moved to the area in the last two months, in our barbershop/salon search for my son who needs a cut every two weeks, he walks out with a completely different haircut at each visit. Not a good thing if you're trying to maintain a consistent image. Patriot Barber Shop is the 4th place we've tried in our two months here. I've searched online, asked new neighbors, and decided to try this shop after seeing an add with a smoking-hot, discounted coupon in The Shopper. After my son's cut tonight, it is my hope we found a a reliable, skilled barber in Ms. Joni while we are stationed here so my son can get a consistent, sharp haircut with every visit. She is not the type of barber who only uses guards. Based on watching her with two other patrons and my son, Joni has confidence and skills. Also, the prices are beyond reasonable compared to the prices I've paid everywhere else. Aside from the coupon in The Shopper, they also had $9.99 cuts all day (at least today). Based on what I recall seeing, their adult cuts are $16; kids cuts are $14 and the offer discounts certain days of the week to military, police, firemen, and all first responders. Parking was easy and I parked in front. There appeared to be more parking on the side and back of the building too. Ms. Joni was friendly, welcoming, and kind to both my son and young daughter I had in tow. The shop has just opened and appeared to have overall organization and cleanliness that I'd want and expect in a barber who pays attention to the details. Based on my previous experiences and expectations at barbershops over the years, they didn't receive 5 stars from me for the following two reasons: 1) the initial barber's chair my son sat in said she couldn't do a fade, which is why we ended up in Joni's chair. That said, on a Friday evening, there were two barbers working. Their ad in The Shopper advertised fades. Also, their exterior window says they do fades. One out of the two barbers could've done a fade. This isn't a deal breaker since Joni did a great job. I've just never been to a barber shop where a barber couldn't do a fade. 2) As Joni finished up my son's cut, she stepped in to help her colleague cut a design in a young girl's head. On a positive note, I appreciate the teamwork, support, and assistance she provided. On a negative note, I stood at the cash register for 5 minutes waiting to pay before I finally dug through my purse to find exact change to pay for the cut and tip. As I was waiting to pay, Joni called me over to her colleague's chair while cutting this young girls hair to suggest if my son wasn't happy with his cut, there was another shop called Perfect Gentlemen he might like better. At no time did my son or I indicate he didn't like his cut. Also, maybe there was a reason... it seemed odd to me that neither barber collected my money or said, "one of us will be right there..." Again, not a deal breaker. Maybe they said something and I didn't hear them. It felt like an eternity since I was with two hungry siblings picking at each other. It just seemed odd to me that Joni didn't close out with me. I finally left my coupon, payment, and tip, expressed my appreciation and said goodbye. She cheerfully said goodbye while she continued to work on the young girl's hair design. I'd recommend giving them a shot if you don't already have an ace barber or stylist. read more

Great new barbershop close to home. I was glad to see a real barber shop open up. They have hot towels, straight razors and great fades. Not sure why it's hard to find these days, by it seems like a dying art, which makes this place a gem. Joni did a phenomenal job. I hate having to go to the base to get a good high and tight because of the long lines and rush-in rush-out assembly line they run. It was nice to sit and wind down with good conversation and get a great haircut. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great haircut. Parking can be tight in the front, but there is also parking on the side and back, so don't be discouraged if the front looks full. It's in the small strip with a few other stores just before you reach Taylor's heard south in Battlefield. (between Rite Aid and Taylor's). Check them out. You'll be glad you did. read more

I give it 5 stars because of Joni. She is great and does the best fades/high and tight. I just tell her 1 1/2 on the top and bare metal on the sides. Not a fan of Miss Kitty, she scalped me at the last second. It looked good, then for some reason took everything from the top. Lesson learned! I am sure the others can do a great job but of my experience, Joni has done a great job every time. The others require more explanation and a close eye to make sure they take enough from the sides and don't give you a burr on top. I am always impressed by her skills, her progressive thinking as well as her professionalism. I have been a client of Dawns for well over a year now and have never had a more loyal barber. She always gives her suggestions as to what would look the best and she convinced me to commit to growing a beard. That was 5 months ago, and her beard cutting/shaping skills are always on point. Dawn has always done a fantastic job. I appreciate Dawn going above and beyond, making different suggestions and options of ways for me to style my hair. There is nothing better than finding a great barbershop, but along with that, having a barber that actually builds and establishes rapport with you and actually cares and invests time into the cut makes all the difference in the world!
