It's worth finding! It's like a fun fitness party. The workouts are all a bit different and all incredible. I felt stronger and more energized after starting at SweatBox. The main SweatBox classes offer a combination of cycling, weights, and more in a high-intensity interval training format. It's a full body workout. Expect high energy, upbeat music, dim lights, and plenty of sweat. There is also a Stretch and Mobility class that is great for loosening up tight muscles. The instructors have a very positive attitude and inspire the students. This isn't one of those studios where you'll feel shamed or intimidated. Much of the credit goes to the Studio Manager, Gwen, who is also a fantastic instructor and lovely person. Gwen makes sure that everyone gets a great workout while having a great time in class. SweatBox is super lucky to have her! For me, it comes down to this: SweatBox motivates me to beat my own personal bests. I saw huge changes in my endurance and confidence after only a few classes. I would definitely recommend giving this studio a try.

The coaches are so positive and motivating, as well as thorough in their pre workout demonstrations and make those small corrections in our movements that make all the difference in our results and the burnnn! The HIIT circuits are setup so nicely, flowing through about 10 different stations and leaving the whole body worked by the end of the class. These classes are pretty solid for building muscle but you're not going to get huge or insanely strong with this style of workout. This will be more for toning muscle/athletic build as well as gaining functionality and work capacity. It's nice that it's all based on time rather than numbers so everybody can go at their own pace. However, if you really want to push yourself as hard as possible, then I'd say this targets the heart and lungs more than anything, and health is what it's really all about. This is even true in the resistance classes, which you always leave with a serious pump. The weights you're using aren't as heavy as CrossFit which mostly allows for you to push yourself in a safer and higher paced manner and there's more variance in exercises and movements than Orange Theory without the concern of running injuries so while all of the big name HIIT enterprises have some advantages, I believe F45 is the best because it has the most well-rounded diverse stimulus mentally and physically and therefore has the most potentially for truly being "in-shape", healthy, functional, and athletic because you're more motivated to consistently train hard and allowed to do so while staying injury free. If I have to knock it I'd say that some of the exercises are more body building oriented (fly's and curls) than I'd like, but most are also performance based. I will also admit, if this were my only training then I'd definitely like to have heavier weights on resistance days because those end up mostly being muscle endurance for me (which ultimately is more important than raw strength if I'm forced to choose). I'd also appreciate a little more sprinting but I know that greatly increases the injury risk so I understand the omission there. Also if there was more space, I would love to incorporate something more explosive like med ball throws and rope climbs. All in all though, considering the energy in there, the results you'll get from start to finish only sacrificing 45 minutes to make the rest of your day better, and possibly even have another little social outlet, this place is great!

I get it I'm older, but the staff here was dismissive and just plain rude…read more Guess they saved me money by being rude up front before I got into a contract or whatever with them. Disappointing for sure.

Coach Gwen and Coach Mike are excellent instructors -- clear, motivating, and attentive to form. There are 3 other class studios and dozens of more fitness classes. I have enjoyed the yoga classes, especially Restorative and Deep Stretch. Chris also runs a great BodyPump class -- strong pacing and consistent energy. Overall, VIDA Ballston combines diverse programming with quality facilities and good service. Runners -- THIS is your place!…read more I joined MAD this summer for a month trial membership and was impressed with the support, technical and individualized coaching, variety of movements, and early results. I was starting marathon training and was initially hesitant about investing in a strength gym with scheduled classes. How could these types of workouts fit into a distance running training plan? MADabolic Arlington showed me. I cannot speak more highly of Julianne and the coaches at MADabolic Arlington. Julianne provided a clear, 20-week training plan that included MAD workouts, speed/hill workouts, long runs, and rest days. Their team helped me build full-body strength, prevent injuries, build mental discipline and resiliency (5:00 static effort, anyone?!), increase aerobic fitness, improve flexibility and range of motion, relieve stress, find value in rest/active recovery days, improve body composition (including bone density), and feel strong. I saw the results. The past few months helped me to run more than 40 minutes faster than last year's marathon time, with my fastest splits of the race in my last 5K. Without injuries. MAD class 3 days per week and running 2-3 days per week. I was a collegiate heptathlete 20 years ago and I am continually amazed what my body and mind are now capable of. I'm back! -- and post-race, I'm making more gains. Down a long, narrow corridor, you enter a dark room with neon florescent paint. The dumbbells are neon, spaces on the floor are neon, paint on the wall is neon. The you notice the best playlists you can think of blasting in the background. This place works for me because I kinda hate working out but I do it out of discipline and for my health. The workouts here are fun and with the lights down low, I can move this jelly with no reservations. (not belly, jelly, you know the lose parts from the neck down? ) The environment is motivating and I see results from the workouts. However, I moved and since I had been missing this place but I always keep in touch with Coach G via stalking on IG because he's so sweet. Well Coronavirus hit. I was home. All gyms are closed. And I was thinking dang- how will I survive without any exercise?!? Boom! That's when I saw Coach G's post about "Sweat Anywhere. No Gym. No Problem." I quickly reached out, signed up (small monthly fee), and just like that I had access to live workouts with the same great trainers at the gym (shouts to Aaron, Sarah, Nazinga, & Stephen) and the lovely people who go there. 30min-40min classes of all kinds are available: HITT, boxing, strength, yoga, Barre, hip-hop step, etc. If I can't make the class live, no problem I have access to the video anytime. Instantly, I was hooked taking multiple classes per week and looking forward to actually seeing someone for a change. Fast forward a month on Sweat Anywhere and Coach G has added more items to this platform: guest trainers, doctors to answer questions, food discussions, happy hours, etc. This has become an all around health and wellness platform for me during this time. It's also given the me the chance to take classes I haven't tried before like Barre. I can take the fee classes from the nationwide companies but Coach G and his employees live in my community. I'd rather support this local business during this tough time. Besides the support they are giving me has exceeded what I expected when I signed up for access to classes. So looking forward to going back to their night club studio some day.

I signed up for the one week trial and had a great time! I was only able to attend four classes,…read morebut enjoyed each one. The instructors were really helpful and gave me some modification options. It would probably help to have some background knowledge of common lifts, but the instructors show the movements and they play on video screens if you need it. Everyone attending was generally in their own zone, so there isn't a lot of chatting because you really focus on getting the exercises done in the set times. I will say that the classes go by super quickly because you're always moving. Cons: The programming is set for the whole month. So each day of the week has its set program and you do that each week for the whole month. For me, this would get old (I really need variety). On the plus side, it does mean you get to see active gains throughout the month. The membership plan is a little pricey. I get why it costs so much, since they do have to cover rent and you only really attend during the class sessions. It isn't a type of gym where you just drop in when you want to use certain equipment. The unlimited monthly membership is $299, but in reality you are getting 30 or 31 classes depending on the month. Since the classes are the same all day, it is unlikely you would do two classes in a day, right? So the pricing is about $10/class if you do the unlimited monthly pass and you go every day. Some of the equipment was pretty smelly. I was at one station that honestly made me gag a little... I think the bench or maybe the dumbells had never been thoroughly cleaned with a bleach solution.

The mens locker room is large, luxurious, and stocked with essentials like towels, razors, mouthwash, and other toiletries. The cold spa is a little small, with an occupancy of 4, but the hot tub spa can probably fit 5-10 people. The staff are all great and helpful. The gym is cleaned very well and often. In terms of the equipment there is pretty much everything you could want. There is a tank sled, about 12-15 platforms (many are taken for classes however), bumper plates, SSB, trap bar, football bar, an assortment of machines with the main provider technogym. Cardio equipment looks mostly standard to me, treadmills, stair stepper, assault bikes, stationary bikes, ellipticals. In the specialty equipment realm this gym has a belt squat machine, which is definitely cool to see. There are not really any cons to this gym, even the parking really isnt that bad. the garages are typically not even 50% full when ive gone. This gym charges way above market rate for a luxury gym. Don't get me wrong - the gym has super nice equipment, great staff, a cold plunge (very small though), and a hot tub. My issue with this location is for the price that you pay, I would expect the following three things: 1. A nice pool - for the price, I would expect at least an indoor lap pool and even an outdoor rooftop pool. For a lifetime that is supposed to be the highest tier, it should have all of the bells and whistles. 2. Less people at the gym: It is crazy how packed this gym gets. I understand that the location is central in Clarendon but you shouldn't have to wait for equipment when you're paying hundreds of dollars a month. 3. Multiple sport courts: For the price you pay, you should be getting full scale courts such as pickleball, basketball, tennis, etc. This gym should be a luxury club with full scale amenities. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who used to be a Lifetime member, and I have been to 5+ Lifetime locations including ones in the same tier as Clarendon. I remember I paid way less and had the luxury of a pool/never having to wait for equipment.

Both of those guys are top notch and know their stuff. (Side note: I don't give out five stars for much... I'm a fussy yelp reviewer when I bother to write a report.) I went in because I took up fitness during the pandemic and built up a decent strength and cardio game, but the body fat just isn't shedding. My home gym, and a weight loss program my doc referred me to both use Inbody, and I'm kind of tired of it. Mainly because when I started this whole fitness thing during the pandemic, physiologically I was a wreck. However, I've made a lot of good changes, and... the Inbody just doesn't move. Everybody always told me that the DEXA is the latest and greatest, and it was just a matter of finding one. Bodymass had the nearest one at a decent price. (There's others but they are $$$). My DEXA scan aligned really closely with my inbody report, so that itself wasn't an issue (now. Three years ago, different story.) But where things really go off the rails is with the BMR/RMR calculation. The Inbody report read 500 calories below my actual RMR! The real helpful thing from those guys was getting a target daily protein intake. They gave me a number I was never going to get on my own. With these guys, you get what you pay for and then some. They'll happily talk about other things they offer, but they're not in the business of upselling you on things you don't want. (That said, if I still can't get things moving in the right direction, I'll give their personalized macro thing a try and see what happens.) As I said above, I don't hand out 5 stars for much, but these guys earned it.

I so appreciate the lack of needing to do some insanely hard weight just because, forgoing form in the process. Love the instructors, love the workouts, love that they incorporate stretching as well. They also have nice locker room facilities and nice showers too.
