We were…read moresuffering from carbon monoxide poisoning symptoms when we found out there was a crack in the furnace wall inside. Furnace cleaners said it had been there for years. After two weeks of living here the office walls in the basement started falling down. Hitting some of us in the head. He looked at the floor above and the pipes. I asked if they are supposed to look like this he said yes, I asked if that was from a leak he said NO. He was wrong! I'm posting all the photos. Not only did the office celling fall but some of the bars put up to hold the ceilings were not even installed. This could have fallen and taken my child's eye out! That not all our underground basement wall started to bow. It is rotten from water damage on the other side. Something he said he checked for but missed. Our other weight barring wall is also bowing. I can't help but wonder what is brewing in there that this inspector has missed??? I bet you anything it's mold. Not to mention our bathroom was painted. There was mold under the paint that chipped off. He asked the homeowners is this whole bathroom new or is that paint? They said brand new you can check it. He said no need it looks new. Nope! It was all paint!

I called J Neff inspections & Consulting for a home inspection recently and they were FANTASTIC!…read moreThey got to the house about an hour early to begin the inspection, and by the time I got there they were nearly finished. When we got there we had A LOT of questions and John and his father were so patient with us and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. They walked us through the house and showed us everything they had found so we could see for ourselves. The inspection report was sent to us first thing the next morning and was so thorough and had such clear pictures. They even drew on the pictures to point out exactly where the issues were! They mean it when they say they are a family business, John even had his young son along for the ride and was teaching him things along the way which was awesome to see. The home had many issues, and they offered to come back and check things over once the seller had made repairs. We are still waiting on the seller but if we need someone to have another look or need an inspection on another house there is no one else I would call. They were fantastic!!

I compared US with a few other companies which I found on Angie's list, Yelp, etc. and ultimately decided to go with Jim for the following reasons: 1) Jim is ASHI certified as well as a Certified Real Estate Thermographer (more details on that later). 2) The rates for US Inspect were comparable to the several other options I looked up. 3) If you look at their sample reports online they are extremely detailed and informative which is what you want as a buyer when it comes to negotiating. The day of the inspection Jim was extremely meticulous, professional, and personable. As noteworthy items came up he would review them with me so I understood what the issue was and what the recommended actions were. He also provided helpful homeowner tips to maintain and increase the lifespan of my future home. When it came to the last step, which is a thermal inspection for leaks, Jim found moisture in the ceiling which I would have never known about otherwise. Whether your inspection comes out favorable or not you want to walk away feeling like you have an idea of exactly what issues you currently have or may have in the future. Working with Jim and US Inspect was a great experience and I would recommend to anyone needing a home inspection.

Their ineptitude will cost me an unplanned $7000 spend (after buying a house) to completely replace a deck a "professional" inspector should have caught. Their Claims department is nothing but a rouse and hides behind ambiguous language in their report and points the finger at the buyer. Here is literally what the person wrote to me (didn't have the decency to call on the phone after numerous requests: "We believe that the report was comprehensive enough and called out defects to the deck that should have prompted you to consult a contractor to assess the deck as a whole."

We did a fair amount of internet research on the various suggested solutions and on the companies we had heard from. We selected Permajack of St. Louis both because we decided that their solution and methods seemed preferable and because their bid was reasonable ... not the lowest but not outlandish. Everything about dealing with them was professional. Calls were returned promptly. Questions answered quickly. The project was completed as promised and on time. The crew was respectful of our home and property and did everything they could to mitigate the noise and inconvenience. They even went so far as to hook up the washer and dryer when they were done, without being asked, after we expressed some concern about being able to use them while the cement cured. When the crew left, the work area was spotless and the whole process had been much less painful than we expected. I would absolutely recommend Permajack of St. Louis.

Their teams did an excellent job not only on my basement, but you couldn't even tell that they had to dig large holes in my front yard to anchor my foundation wall. The lawn was repaired so well I could barely tell where they dug. All of their staff were professional, on time, and cleaned up when the job was complete. We are very happy with their work.
