I mentioned that I had been told I could get a higher price over the phone before coming here and I was basically ignored. I called the same guy back and was told "he was busy" and couldn't confirm the price i had originally been told. Thankfully however I was offered around $980 at another shop and was still able to sell but a good chunk of my time was wasted and I was lied to.

I say that to explain that I'm not giving some sour grapes review because I can't get more than I paid for something. Which happens all day long in these businesses. That said... platinum is $1475/oz today. I just called these guys and after some I'm not sure and bring it by so we can see it nonsense, he quoted me $1000 for my platinum bars? Now even the most aggressive coin shop would only be $80-$100 back of spot? So almost $500 back of spot might be the worst I've ever seen? 3-5% margins are common with bullion. I made a great living on that margin. A 34% margin is ridiculous and seems to me to be really trying to take advantage of customers that don't know any better? Sorry guys but pretty awful. You can do better. The refinery will pay you $12 over spot today. You could've quoted me $1375 and made $100 profit for 5 minutes of your time? That's after $12 shipping? Disappointing encounter. I will just ship my metal, no big deal. I was just looking to establish a relationship with a local dealer. I love to see people make money. I would never tell a guy what to make? Told him I planned to take most to my daughter out of state over the holidays to see if she wanted any of it. He wrote prices down for each of several items and I did sell two that were not something she would care about. Prices were fair and based on market price of gold and silver and weight of the items. I returned today- 2 weeks later- and asked for Dave again. He worked with me on 3 items neither my daughter nor I wanted. His price was significantly higher than I had been quoted at a nearby competitor just yesterday so I sold those items. It was a pleasure doing business with Pawn 1- my first interactions with any of these stores. If I decide to sell other items, will check here first. While I was there, I observed other staff interacting with customers. Both were pleasant and helpful.

First they tell me after 15 minutes of looking to "not get too comfortable" as they are hungry and they close for lunch. Then they remind me of how hungry they are and ask me to leave because they close in 5 minutes. As I was leaving a gentlemen was coming in with a TV to pawn. The employees knew the guy and said how stupid he was, by name, to come back again.
