Several years ago I was faced with the task of finding a place for my mom. With guidance I created a list of a dozen options and set out to discover, first hand, what assisted living was all about and ultimately to help decide where she should go. I had much to learn and it was a real challenge, as everyone who has gone through this process now understands. I visited all 12 recommended facilities, meeting and interviewing, even photographing their facilities to present to my mom so that she could have a voice in the matter. After tremendous time and effort I/we narrowed the list to two places. Patriot's Glen was one of those choices. The vibe was great, the care appeared first rate and personable. It was clear they had a responsible, caring, qualified staff. And... a director (Jane) that not only clearly knew her stuff but more importantly... was someone I could trust and work with. Problem solved. Mom has been a resident now for several years. Throughout that time I have been a hands-on task master every step of the way. Have to acknowledge that PG and I have worked well together in those stressful trenches -- dealing with physical and mental health issues, financial issues, etc.. We are a solid team. I so appreciated them. And then... it got better. Never settling for standing still or the status quo, things actually started getting measurably better. Patriot's Glen continued to push to improve staff and systems. Most importantly, over the last year it is clear to me that my mom has actually gotten better! AND that is clearly a result of her care there. Better and better. Finally my mom has become comfortable with her humble life in the care of Patriot's Glen. She actually understands she is part of a community of people. People who have prioritized her well being both mentally and physically. She is grateful, even if she can't express it in her own words or actions. No more grateful than I. And so I thought I should express it for her, out loud and on this forum. I cannot say enough about Patriots Glen. I placed my best friends mother there in April 2017 when she needed urgent memory care and the facility she was at could not provide that level of care. As a Canadian coming down to find a facility for her mother I looked at 2 Memory Care facilities on top of several "Place for Mum" homes. Patriots Glen stood out as the perfect place due to the reception from Jane, ED; how they could improve her situation by offering applicable activities to keep her engaged and they had the ability to work with me in this unique situation. Neither my friend or I ever regretted this decision. PG kept us involved in care decisions and met with us when the care level needed to change to explain why and to give us options. The activities at PG were just perfect - not too many to tire out the people living there but a variety to keep them always thinking. Drawing, singing, exercises, going outside (on their enclosed patio), bringing in animals etc. Unfortunately my friend passed away late last year so I became guardian of her mother and have had to interact more with PG. They have been excellent (as I am not in the USA except for when I can visit) at communicating what is going on medically and mentally. She started declining and Kindred Hospice was brought in. They were an EXCELLENT addition to the team and frankly as a Canadian who has heard some things about the US medical system - Kindred with PG's support erased any preconceived idea I had about the US medical system. I found caring, supportive people willing to do whatever they could to keep my friends mother comfortable as she departed this life. It was as stress-free as possible for me which really allowed me to focus on spending time at the end with the lady I had known for 50 years and had been so supportive of me and especially of her daughter in her lifetime. We feel so fortunate to have found Patriot's Glen as a home for Mom. We have had experience viewing several places and choosing 3 in 2 states during Mom's long decline with Alzheimer's over the past decade. Patriot's Glen is by far the best place we have seen, and the best place for Mom to live. The leadership and staff are kind and caring with residents (IMO, the most important) and family, and also knowledgeable, skilled, and thorough with medical, social, and emotional needs. They have partnered with us (the family) to manage Mom's medical care, spiritual and social needs, and activities in such a skilled way that has kept her healthy, happy, and fulfilled for the almost 3 years she has lived there. Regarding medical care: Managing Mom's evolving medical needs involves continual reevaluation, and we have learned a lot as the medical staff has provided the information we need and helped us make informed decisions. Since moving to Patriot's Glen, Mom is healthier than she's been in years. Regarding spiritual, emotional, and social well-being: Normally (before covid), there are so many activities for Mom and residents to join in: weekly church services and social activities like bingo, movies, happy hours with music, outings to local sites and cultural events, etc. Of course these have been on hold while residents' health and safety are primary concerns during covid. We look forward to them resuming! Our family literally does not know what we would have done if we had not found Patriot's Glen; moving Mom there has improved not only her quality of life, but all of ours. We have recommended Patriot's Glen to several friends in similar situations to ours who have also moved loved ones to Patriot's Glen and they feel the same. If you or a loved one are looking for a terrific retirement community, assisted living, or memory care home, you can't do better than Patriot's Glen. read more

Very nice facility and staff! Finding a quality care facility for your parent(s) can be one of the most stressful things you'll ever have to do in your life, at least in my case it was. When we first visited Patriots Glen in Bellevue we were greeted by a very friendly and professional staff. They make you feel comfortable and welcome from the very start. The facility was very clean and well organized. It is one of the smaller assisted living facilities we visited which was one of our priorities because it's much easier for you and your parent to get to know the entire staff and much of the other residents. The rooms are very nice, moms had a living room with kitchenette and a separate bedroom and bathroom and plenty of room to have the entire family over. Mom, in her later years, became very "stubborn" and not easy to work with. But the staff at Patriots Glen were patient with her and learned how to work around her "mannerisms" . The dining room area is very clean, the food is great with a good variety, and the staff serving you are very personable and friendly, you might even get someone to sing a song to you .. They have a ton of activities for the residents to participate in if they wish such as; exercises, games, sing a-longs, trips to various stores, sightseeing, and even happy hour on Fridays . A great nursing staff 24 hours a day to ease your mind. And even an onsite hair salon . After 3 years the staff at Patriots Glen became our extended family, and I still visit the staff after mom's passing. You have to give these folks a high five for the work they do. Our Mom was a resident of Patriots Glen. We would like to send our thanks to Jane, Jordan and the entire rest of the staff for everything that they did for her. Mom, like most others, was a very loving person and was always so helpful to others in so many different ways, but when her disabilities finally caught up to her she could no longer live safely on her own. The first assisted living facility she was in was not able to adjust to her progressing needs, and we had a difficult time finding a location that would accommodate her. We were so fortunate to be introduced to Jane at Patriots Glen. She and her staff were able to work with us to get Mom the treatment and care she needed. They went above and beyond their duties to assist her with her needs and communicated with us whenever necessary. At Patriots Glen, we found not only a safe and loving environment, but one which felt like home. With the challenge of COVID-19 going on worldwide, Patriots Glen has made the adjustments needed for the safety of both the residents and the staff. Patriots Glen is a most unusual home for seniors meeting the needs with loving service not included elsewhere. A loving family home with comforting appearance and decor. Reasonable costs are determined and adjusted by personal needs.Unlike other facilities, activities direct continual opportunities to exercise, have fun, go shopping,keep alert and active while enjoying life. Our activity direction is primary. Visits by family and friends are facilitated at all hours. Residents can also keep a dog or cat. The menu is varied, extensive and carefully planned for healthy living. Patriots Glen staff reflect all the cultures on earth with an uncanny understanding of personal care. All staff, like a large family, working , continually helping each other. In my eight months at Patriots Glen, I have gone from fat to thin, losing 50 pounds, becoming a different man, invigorated and motivated with renewed strength. Bob. read more

After many years of what turned out to be very sub-standard care at a premier rated facility, we moved our mother to Patriot's Glen Assisted Living. I feel very comfortable in saying that mom received premier care (and I might add, at less than half the cost of the other facility) from that point forward to the time she passed away. We are so glad we moved her! Don't go on cost comparison alone with the false notion that higher price means better care. The staff at PG is dedicated, compassionate and professional. The facility is clean and well maintained. I cannot emphasize enough the contrast of cleanliness, attentiveness and caring to the residents. They often went out of their way to accommodate not only mom but us also as we struggled at times to provide what she needed. The staff always assisted us with making decisions best for mom. My Father came to Patriot's Glen after a fall that required a higher level of care. This was 3 plus years ago. From day 1 my Father and our family felt comfortable at Patriot's Glen. Not only was the attention he was receiving above our expectations; but the fall seemed to speed up his dementia and they were prepared to handle. A very important attribute of PG was the staffing was consistent which allowed my Father to be comfortable with all of them. I feel the staffing and administration truly had my Father and our family's best interest at heart. I highly recommend Patriot's Glenn. My Father recently passed away on 9/16 at 94 years old. My mother lived at Patriot's Glen for the last nine months of her life and I cannot say enough about the excellent care she received there from every staff member. I also felt cared for, as I worked with the nursing staff to handle and adapt to the cascade of changing needs that my mother experienced near the end of her life. I only wish we had found Patriot's Glen sooner. Because of my positive experience, my husband moved my mother-in-law to Patriot's Glen, and she too received compassionate, skilled care until she passed. We moved both of our parents to Patriots Glen just before the pandemic. They did an outstanding job keeping our parents safe and happy during the isolation. Then they continued excellent care as the facility opened up. Everyone that works there are exceptional human beings. Professional and loving. My great grandmother stayed at Patriot's Glen and lived to be 102 years old. The Patriot's Glen staff and executive director care about their residents and have been amazing during COVID-19. The amount of effort they put into protecting everyone and making sure they stay healthy is truly commendable.
