If the other workers have to come in with a uniform on, and still looking professional, then that example should be being set by upper man. The lack of care is becoming visible more and more as I visit. This place needs to be investigated by the state. I was pleased with their level of communication - they ensured I was in the loop regarding what was going on with my father. He adjusted well and we felt confident his needs were being met. He moved to the Memory Care unit (MC) a few weeks ago and seems to be thriving in this new area. The level of care is different, but still great! I have no doubt my dad is in the best place for his needs. I would definitely recommend the Presbyterian Community. The only less than positive thing I can say is the facility is quite dated and is in need of being updated. But, the facility is safe, clean and appropriate.

Whenever I visited, I was treated warmly, and my father was always resting comfortably in a clean room and a pristine bed, with carefully laundered, comfortable clothes. He had dementia, so he was unable to tell us how the staff was treating him (and never having been the type of person to complain) we had to take non-verbal cues. All the cues pointed to a staff that was both patient and caring. Trust was essential to us and something we considered heavily before deciding on a place for our beloved father. During his final days, our family experienced feelings that I cannot properly put into words here. Likewise, I am unable to express how sensitive the staff was in their treatment of my father. I imagine that they deal with loss on a regular basis, but never once did they regard our grief casually. My father was a kind, gentle, man and was known for his singing voice, his whistling, his love of jazz and his love of the Word. The staff made sure he was able to enjoy all these things during his final days. They all knew him by name, and said he was easy to care for and easy to care about. This was evident in their heartfelt farewell. You can not pay someone to care, and [care] is what they did here. Perhaps I have not adequately relayed, but in my heart I will absolutely, always appreciate every last member of this staff for giving of themselves so selflessly, when it counted most.

Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away while in their care, but he was a very sick man with significant health issues. During this difficult time, the staff showed compassion and were very supportive of our family, which we greatly appreciated. One thing that truly stood out was their pet visitation policy. After providing proof of vaccination, we were able to bring our dog to visit him. Those visits brought him a tremendous amount of joy and comfort, and it meant a lot to our family to be able to share that time with him. In May, I was hospitalized at Novant Medical Center in Wilmington after an overdose caused by…read morepoorly managed chronic pain and the severe depression it produced. While I was unconscious and extremely vulnerable, I was involuntarily placed on a psychiatric hold and transferred to an inpatient mental health facility several hours away. I am 5'10" and 120 pounds, with chronic, debilitating back pain. While in their care, I was subjected to both physical and emotional abuse by a security guard -- someone entrusted with my safety while I was in my most compromised and vulnerable state. I was restrained roughly, resulting in severe black-and-blue bruising on my neck, jaw, head, and hip, and I was mocked, humiliated, and intimidated throughout the process. Even if I were physically strong or struggling with substance use, the way I was handled -- both physically and psychologically -- was unacceptable. There must be accountability for this abuse, and survivors of patient mistreatment should not be ignored. When I asked staff to document my injuries and preserve security video, they refused or obstructed me. I filed a formal complaint but received no meaningful response or follow-up. I later learned that others sent from Novant Medical Center to the same or similar facilities experienced comparable mistreatment. I want to share my intent clearly: if you have been the recipient of physical or emotional abuse in a hospital, psychiatric, or mental health facility, and then given the runaround by Novant -- feeling powerless to even get acknowledgment -- you are not alone. I believe there may be hundreds of thousands of us. Posting this increases my personal vulnerability, but I am trying to be discreet while also exercising my agency and doing what I know is important.

I know we have a crisis in America but my pain is a 9-10 and that's it like by we need the room. I guess it makes sense why there rating is low. There bed side manner is awful. I have to unfortunately give a 1 star rating but I honestly feel that's greater than it should be. Very disappointed
