Very nice place that you get "they care" vibe. Very quiet and food is also above other places.

From Jennifer, Brandy and Sharon in admissions... showing me and my family SUCH CARE, KINDNESS, PATIENCE ...as well as their KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL at helping me navigate this unfamiliar and traumatic time in my uncle's life... to say "Thank you" is just simply NOT ENOUGH! My uncle (who is a father to me) was admitted as a "short term" patient with memory difficulties. NURSE TERESA and her ENTIRE TEAM on the (300) HALL have and are... taking SUCH WONDERFUL CARE of my uncle... that I HAVE NO DOUBT that THIS IS EXACTLY WHERE he WILL GET the kind of care I WISHED FOR... with all my wishes. We, as a family... are SO GRATEFUL for EACH and EVERY person that are there around the clock to keep my uncle SAFE and as HEALTHY as his body will allow. ALL of the NURSES, CNAs and EVERY SINGLE SUPPORTING TEAM MEMBER that work at this facility are SO SKILLED, KIND, PATIENT, CARING AND LOVING... in what I KNOW is NOT ...BY ANY MEANS... an easy job. NOT ONCE, have they ever made me feel like my uncle wasn't their ONLY patient... when I KNOW they are pulled in a million directions day... in and day out! THEY ARE ALL... THE BEST of the BEST! Mr. Ernie and his ENTIRE TEAM of Physical, Occupational, Speech therapists are ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!! Lynn, Sarah, Paola ...as well as ALL the other team members that are helping my uncle... not just "maintain" but THRIVE! To simply say "THANK YOU" to ALL of the women and men that work at Matthews Health and Rehab... that leave their own families... day in and day out... to care for other's loved ones... well, "thank you" is just "simply" ...not enough. SABER HEATHCARE GROUP should be VERY PROUD and LUCKY that these group WONDERFUL, TALENTED, SKILLED, KIND AND CARING women and men, REPRESENT... not only them... but are a SHINING EXAMPLE of what ALL healthcare professionals should strive to be. They are quite "simply"... THE BEST of the BEST!! THANK YOU ALL!!! ... for ALL THAT YOU DO!

My elderly mother who suffered 2 strokes was taking in by this rehabilitation center, I give this…read moreplace a negative 100 or an F grade, I waited until she was released to give my grade and score. They give you a tour so you will fall for how the place looks. All neat and clean and organized but the care they provide is terrible. They will also lie and like causing drama. Their head nurse once called me to complain about my brother feeding our mom by mouth, (due to the strokes, our mom had a tube inserted in her stomach so she can be fed, since she had a hard time swallowing at the beginning), she complained that my brother had been told several times to stop feeding her, (my brother mouth feeds her so she can regain her swallowing ability, a speech therapist at another rehab center had given the permission for her to be mouth fed) so she and i went back and forth arguing because I disagreed, (I told her how is our mom supposed to regain her swallowing ability if she doesn't practice), she replies being a smartass, that if we want to do as we want, that she would be released into our care.. (That's one thing they hate, when you disagree with them), when i got to the center, i told my brother what had happened, he told me they had not told him anything except just one time, and so they lied to me about him being told several times. Another time, my brother decided to take our mom out in a wheelchair to get some fresh air, it was during a week that it was hot for several days, very hot, so they went back in, a nurse saw them come in, and told my brother to get our mom some water, so she would stay hydrated, so they get back to her room, he calls a nurse to request some water, an older nurse came in, asking whom the water was for, my brother said it was for our mom, so she quicky replies that our mom can't have water unless it was on her schedule for the day. Now that is outrageous and ridiculous! My brother tells her that another nurse told him to get some water for our mom, that stupid older nurse tells him well that the other nurse doesn't know how things work around here. So, it was a hot day, and just because it was not on the schedule, my mom was denied water! That says a lot about how terrible that place is! My mom was released with no improvement at all, she is wheelchair bound because their therapists also failed to do their jobs, How is a 15 minute therapy session supposed to help a person regain mobility after suffering 2 strokes? On one occasion, I had just arrived and went to my mom's bedside and could smell some odor coming from her, i called a nurse, she comes in after 15 minutes of waiting, and I tell her that my mom needs to be changed, she replies that she had already changed her, in my head i was like I am not asking if you have changed her, i am requesting that she be changed. I told my brother it's like they think our mom's bowel movements have to go according to their stupid schedule. Another time, i get there and my mom is complaining about pain on her left shoulder, so I call a nurse, she comes in and i ask for a pain pad, she replies, that my mom already got one and can't get another one, with her face not showing any concern so i tell her that my mom needs a pain killer, she leaves to go find another nurse. A few days before our mom is released, my brother decides to go all day to make sure that they are doing their job. On 2 separate dates, he notices that they only feed our mom once in the morning and that's it, she literally waited 6 hours one day to get food again. Our sister arrives on the second occasion and my brother tells her that they have not fed our mom yet, so she calls a nurse to ask her when our mom is going to get food, the nurse dares to ask, are you sure she's not gotten fed yet, my brother tells her he's sure because he's been there all day. I wonder how many times my mom spent a whole day without being fed and could not tell us because she can't speak well. A nurse came to our house to check my mom's vitals and we asked her where we could get more protein to feed our mom, she tells us that the rehab center should have place an order or prescription for that, she checks the paperwork and surely no prescription was ever sent. I have mentioned just some things that i was able to notice and that my brother also saw and noticed. It makes me mad thinking of what my mom had to deal with when she was alone during the day. She can't speak well and can't move, so it was good for them because she could not complain. Please if you love your elderly parents who need a rehab center or nursery home, and plan on visiting this place, please Don't consider this place, they are liars, they don't care for the patients. They will release your parent or parents if they see that your parents are not recovering fast enough on their stupid schedule. They lack communication, patience, understanding and caring. It only took me about a week to see what kind of hell hole this place really is.

Place looked very clean and easy to navigate with a lot of signs, letting you know where to go. Any of the staff we spoke to was always friendly and helpful. Facility was very welcoming.

Medications not administered in a timely manner (in some cases 11/2 hours late). We had to explain at least twice to nurses that it was critical to get medication prior to PT. No schedule for PT, you don't know when they are going to come. NO cleaning of equipment between patient use, this included weights, bikes, parallel bars. No meeting with sister & family regarding goals or plan of care. Didn't get a menu to select preferences until 3 day after mentioning to Social Worker. Food generally cold, and daily grits congealed. Social Worker met with sister & husband once, very nice but no follow up. NO plans were coordinated for Home Care Services upon discharge! Answering of callbell was inconsistent. Nursing assistants overall were kind and helpful. There is no consistency is how to transfer patients from bed to wheelchair to toilet and back. Everyone seemed to do it differently and not what was being taught by PT. Family stayed with my sister 24/7 to make sure she was cared for properly. Administrator and DON poked their heads in once. No admissions person to explain process.

To make it worse he was cold so he took spread off bed, that was covered in who knows what and was covering himself as he sat in a chair. What a shame that he was put in such terrible situation. There was no towels, no hand soap in bathroom or room for him to use. So shameful that someone would treat the elderly with such disrespect. After finding him in this situation we left with him taking him home. We had waited for 10 day to find a rehab facility only to found him in this disgusting situation. So now we are trying to find in-home PT. Please DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE THAT YOU CARE ABOUT TO STAY AT THIS FACILITY. Information: I saw two different staff sitting either talking on their cell phone or looking at their phone, one was like hiding in a dark cubby behind a machine. The "supper" food tray was still in room at 9pm (I don't even want to think about what the kitchen looks like if the rooms are filthy. We Must stop Elderly Adbuse! Brian is not your average trainer. I find him to be uniquely knowledgeable of the human body and…read morebody mechanics. The majority of personal trainers I've encountered seem to approach fitness with a "class" mentality. Most trainers, run everyone through the same set of exercises in the same way. Brian approaches fitness with the awareness that no two bodies are alike. He knows how to identify and accommodate for body asymmetry that demands varying methods to achieve the correct results.. For years I have had issues with my back. Brian's knowledge and use of PRI (Postural Restoration Institute) along with strength training, helped me achieve a degree of flexibility and fitness that I have not had for years. He created a set of custom exercises that helped strengthen my particular weaknesses. He kept me away from popular exercise methodologies that would have actually done more harm than good in the long run. I remain impressed with his ability to identify issues and provide specific exercises that isolate individual muscles that helped bring symmetry and wholeness back to my body. My professional life includes evaluating and hiring technical staff. One of the things I always look for is whether an individual is a lifelong learner. Do they spend even their spare time learning more about their profession? Brian is one of the people in the fitness world that does. He's passionate... not just about strength and fitness but the long-term health of each individual. If you are looking for a better approach to health and fitness for your individual body, I highly recommend Brian for the task. Tim S
