The highest prices in the UP even higher than the small convience stores. Avoid this place at all costs.

Prices here are shamelessly high. And I have returned baked goods for being stale. I think they take advantage of the location to fleece the tourists, but the neighborhood can't afford these prices and locals have to use food stamps to get by. I try to time my grocery shopping with a trip to Houghton. At least there you have some options. read more

A decent grocery store, especially given the rural area. I would have given four stars if they kept up on the expiration dates better, but I also live in a somewhat rural area and we have the same issue in our local grocery store. I'm sure it's tough when you don't have as many customers as stores in cities and bigger towns get rotating their products out faster. A decent selection of prepared foods, which was a pleasant surprise, and although we didn't end up trying any, there were quite a few that looked pretty good! read more

Not bad for basics. Old vegetables because people here are meat and potatoes types. (The Upper Peninsula is only place in USA where people buy potatoes at gas station ) I like the salad bar but it seems to be stocked by Rip van Winkle who cannot get out of bed early enough. For those of us who start work at 8 am and would like a salad for lunch its a no go because that is not stocked until 10 am read more

Overrated! #1 Horrible staff/cashiers. 9 times our of 10 extremely rude and completely unfriendly. A few times I have gone in there and watched one cashier be nice to customer #1, rude to #2, then ignore me, then greet the next guy behind me with a happy "Hello!". You never know what your going to get. And I get that you work at a small town grocery store, but would a smile kill you? #2 Over priced! They do have a cleaned up produce department but totally over priced. And the salad bar, forget about it. It used have a fresh, wide variety salad bar that many people (including myself) would be able to get a nice fresh salad 7 days a week and you would pay by the ounce/pound. But now they have a flat rate, I think it's around $7 now, ridiculous! My young daughter likes to get fresh salads,...do you think I like to pay $7 for my under 10 year old daughters salad. Sorry, I don't. Seems like since they changed the pricing guide the salad bar has gone down hill. Looks like days old stuff, gross! It's so bad, I'd rather go drive thru Burger King for one of their salads. THAT bad. Needless to say,....this grocery store in less than a mile from my home, yet I drive 15 miles into Houghton once to twice a week just to get better service and better prices. I suggest others should do the same. NOT worth my time and money to go here. I would love to "shop locally" but if this is what local grocery stores give me, forget it! read more

Store is ok at best. Not too bad considering the depressed area. However, you have to watch very closely for out dated food. Many times milk will be out dated along with packaged produce. The cashiers as others have noted have major attitude problems. Too bad the brand new grocery closed in town, I would go there to avoid the cashiers here. Tonight the cashier licked her fingers before handling all my items. I would have put them back in the basket if there had been another checkout lane open. So @*%#&$ pissed off. I will be making the trip to Econo or Walmart in Houghton to avoid this place. Also, the prices are HIGH! Owners take note, you best control your rude staff or you will end up like the other closed store. read more

Worst cashiers ever! They are snobby and treat the customers horribly. There are a few nice ones but mostly they are rude and gossipy. And good luck taking returnables there. The room is cramped and always filthy. I had to argue to get the "customer service" woman to take bottles back from a brand they carry in the store! She told me they did not carry that brand then argued with me when I insisted I bought it there. I asked her to please check and she made a huge stink about walking 20 feet. She has since been rude and/or ignored me. Too bad it is 1 of 2 options for groceries in Calumet. I would rather drive to Houghton. read more

Love going to the Calumet Pat's. The cashiers and other employees are always friendly and helpful. LOVE that they always have more produce on sale than what is advertised and usually at a great deal. Fair pricing and clean store with a large selection. read more

Good selection of foods. Price s are high on most items. get the store card and that can save some money. The cashiers are not super friendly. don't say anything other than do you have a rewards card? the deli and bakery are good and the staff back there are nice and helpful. you can buy stuff from there and sit in the store and eat. they have an area above the deli with tables. kind of a nice idea. The salad bar is a good deal for us. at $6.00 you can get a large salad, fruit bar, ect. read more

great produce selection and their meat is always the best. I like to go there as a family, my husband and daughter eat from the deli in their mezzanine while I shop....that way I have a little help carrying my groceries and they've been fed lunch! read more

Just moved to the area and have been shopping at the Calumet IGA and found the staff not very nice. Made my grocery list and checked their ad and grabbed the coupons they send through the mail. Get to check out and the young man said the coupons don't start till the next day and said ok but can I go ahead and purchase and bring receipt back and have my bill adjusted. He asked the the woman rolled her eyes, rolled her hair and flipped her hair back and said NO. Then proceeded to say the dates are printed on the coupons can't I read. Well since I just to the area and haven't used the much I was going off the ad and figured the coupons went with their weekly ad. Well the Calumet IGA no longer needs our hard earned money. There is Louie's in Lake Linden and Econo Foods in Houghton. If you don't like your job or working with people then quit and find somewhere you want to be, because costomer service is not your thing. read more
