A Beautiful Setting, but a Disappointing Experience I first…read morediscovered the Geodomes at Inn & Spa Cedar Springs while searching online for unique places to stay in Hocking Hills, Ohio. The domes were a little more expensive than what we would normally spend for a couple of nights, but we decided to treat ourselves to a special experience. Unfortunately, our stay got off to a very difficult start. After arriving, we checked in, booked our two complimentary breakfasts, unloaded our vehicle, and settled into the dome. The accommodations themselves are nicely designed. The dome is a good size, with a small kitchen area and a bathroom with a private toilet and shower. There is no sink in the kitchen area, but overall, the space is comfortable and the large windows provide a beautiful view of the surrounding forest. The problem occurred almost immediately after we arrived. My wife went into the bathroom, and when she attempted to leave, the door would not open. The latch was catching on the frame and would not release. I am a window and door contractor with 25 years of experience, so I spent approximately 20 minutes trying to get the door open. Unfortunately, because I did not have tools with me and the door was installed so tightly, I was unable to release it. I went to the front desk for assistance and was told that the maintenance person had already left but that they would try to get him back. Approximately 15 minutes later, he returned, and we went to the dome together. He initially tried to slide a credit card between the door and frame for several minutes. I suggested removing the handle set and asked for a Phillips screwdriver. Unfortunately, the tool kit he had brought contained a socket set rather than a screwdriver. He had to return to his truck and came back with a small jeweler's screwdriver set, which was not suitable for the job. He then left again to find another screwdriver. While he was gone, I continued trying to release the latch using the foil cutter from a wine corkscrew. When he returned several minutes later, I was finally able to release the latch by applying upward pressure to the door while manipulating the latch with the foil cutter. My wife was trapped inside the bathroom for just over an hour. Once we got the door open, I suggested removing the handle set so the problem would not happen again during our stay. The maintenance person agreed, and the handle was removed. I want to be clear that I appreciated the effort made by the individual who came to help us. We later learned that he was actually the lawn care facilitator rather than a dedicated maintenance employee. He did what he could with the tools available to him. However, the fact that a guest was trapped inside a bathroom for more than an hour due to a defective door is a serious safety concern. I contacted management the following morning and was told that the guest relations manager would call me. I eventually received the call at approximately 4:30 p.m. We discussed what happened, but the manager appeared to believe that the entire incident had lasted only about 15 minutes. I corrected several details regarding the timeline and explained exactly what had occurred. Unfortunately, at the conclusion of the conversation, management offered no accommodation, discount, or other gesture acknowledging the inconvenience and potential safety issue. Even a simple offer of a couple of drinks at the bar would have gone a long way toward demonstrating that they valued our experience. Instead, the response left us feeling that the financial aspect of the stay was more important than customer satisfaction. There were a few other things worth mentioning. The water system in the dome uses naturally hard, untreated water, and the water has a noticeable sulfur smell when running. The odor can permeate the dome, so bringing an air freshener may be helpful. The on-site restaurant, however, was a positive part of our experience. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. The grounds are also well maintained. One additional concern is that the path lighting leading to the domes was not functioning during our stay. At night, this meant walking to and from the domes in essentially complete darkness, which is another issue that should be addressed from a safety standpoint. Overall, the Geodomes themselves are attractive, comfortable, and located in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the initial incident and, more importantly, by how management handled it afterward. Things can go wrong at any property. What matters is how management responds when they do. In our case, we were hoping for some acknowledgment that what happened was unacceptable and a small gesture to show that our safety and satisfaction mattered. That did not happen. The Geodomes at Inn & Spa Cedar Springs have a lot of potential, but based on our experience, I would not stay here again. If you decide to book, I would hope that everything g

I am wishing I knew how to upload pictures. They would speak for me. I am not used to leaving…read morereviews but I am in so much shock over what's happened I have to. I truly hope my experience is not the norm now that this place is under the new ownership it is, or as I was told for 2 years. See, I went in because I had a great experience there for a big coloring job but that was 10 years ago. I went in with box color black wanting to go red, I walked out reddish. not a bad look just not drastic enough for how much I paid so it was my first time ever calling in and asking for a redo, that time I was met with empathy and eagerness to have me come back in with a more experienced colorist. I walked out happy as a clam. This time I went in after growing out my white for several months my hair to my waist. Longer than it's grown in my adult life. I expressed first, by calling that I'm really looking for options on the color and a little trim. I had to wait over a half hour on my stylist which would have been fine but I found out he does that to everyone. I talked to him in depth as to how my hair is longer than ever and I want to keep that as much as I can, and what about color. I was met with a "we can't do anything with that box color on it" I said well I went to red before? I thought ok, just stick with the white, I showed him a video of a lady with white streaks in front and said I want this style but longer. The video had a lady with long big curls part in front. The stylist just said "I'm sure it will be more versatile when it's cut". He was discussing his issues and asking me why I'm on disability so I was telling him all I knew about applying and honestly kind of got sidetracked next thing I know he's straightening my hair and starting to cut. I meekly asked if I could get a wash, that I didn't wash it first since it said online it was a wash, cut & style. He took me over and maybe conditioned it? He literally touched my head maybe 2 minutes tops. not a wash and condition. Then he blew it dry and started cutting. When he turned me around to see I went into a panic attack. Literally. So much was gone and he added all these layers to thin it. Since I saw he blew through the original style I asked for I even tried to part it in the middle and said nope that looks bad, can you maybe do some bangs? He did discourage me from them. I truly think because it was getting late. I pulled out yet another example, a cut I had done there actually and showed the bangs and asked could he do that? That most stylists haven't been able to. He started cutting again. Bangs weren'tblending and were sticking straight out in spots. I asked could he blend the other side as it goes down my face so I can wear it up and have the sides down. He cut that side leaving about an inch! I got up and stopped him at that point. I started to cry and he scoffed at me. I left bawling. I called day they opened, after everyone seeing it said how bad it truly is. How I shouldn't have paid. How I should have slapped him even. No good remarks but followed by "who did it"? I said I was letting the salon make it right but I didn't know how that would be possible. Truly I don't know how to post pictures but I wish I could share the video I took to show someone. It's shocking. The owner wasn't apologetic she was rather rude actually but did say I could either have a refund or see about having the one stylist that she trusted for long hair, for her own hair to do it. I debated. I really wanted my money back. $40 plus tip plus gas & time to go was a lot...now go back knowing it's so short nothing could be done but maybe some blending? I was supposed to go on this epic trip the following day. I was told to be there at 4 if I wanted it done before my trip. I had to arrange for my son to be watched and pay the gas to get back but I did, thinking maybe they could do some color because with that cut it didn't allow me to blend in the white with styling like I had been and more stuck out in the back because the long hair covered it prior. So I go in and the stylist I was set with had the hair I wanted. She washed and conditioned me (for real this time) and assessed it. From get go she was in shock by it too but said he did the same to her once. That it took 2 years to get it back. Thats exactly how long it will take me to get mine back. She agreed nothing could be done with the cut. she tried to style it but it really just looked like I had hat head. I thanked her for trying on the style, what about color. I explained I found on my own after the cut and consultation the idea of a color part. She showed me what's called color blocking. I asked for that. She didn't have the time to but sent me to another, who I showed a pic, long story short (out of space) she turned me salt and pepper. she went back to make it more chunky but still now I'm grey. It looks awful. The owner replied to an email but nasty, won't even tell me what's on it so I can try to remove it.
