We just finished a major landscaping project and it was done very quickly, considering the amount of work that was involved. The workers were efficient, worked hard ALL day and were professional in all their interactions. The company is definitely old school but I kind of like that. Becky, the designer, hand drew all the designs and wrote out in long hand all the paperwork. Rick is a character but both he and Becky came out several times to observe the progress. They discussed additions I wanted at the last minute very amenably and got them in the next day. I was super impressed with their company and crew. We built a house and Patton was the Landscaper we had to use they put in a weeping cherry tree and it died the first year, so they said they would replace last fall. They put in a maple tree and guess what it's DEAD and he does not care he is one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with, he told me he is a firm believer that the customer is NOT always right and he is one of the biggest landscapers in the area and this is just part of being so big. I used the word shi*** service and he had the nerve to tell me he is not use to a lady using those kinds of words PLEASE really! I have dealt with this company for many years. They have designed and landscaped the front and back of our home. All plants and trees have thrived. We have them come out once each year in the spring to prune and have always experienced timely service and great pruning - artistic. Their pricing is in line with and maybe a bit less than comparable nurseries in the area. read more

We had this landscape company come out and plant four trees for us four years ago. Currently we have only one tree that is doing well. A total of four trees we purchased, two evergreens have died and I one maple is struggling. We watered and took care of these trees as directed. These trees just did not thrive, they didn't have problems with disease or with the lack of water or too much. Obviously we are not happy what has happened to these trees and it has been too long ago to try to file a claim with the company. We had the two dead evergreens removed and found that they still had a wire baskets attached to the root ball! Our current landscaping company informed us the evergreens where not planted properly! No wonder they didn't thrive! Apparently this company doesn't know how to properly plant a tree! We wasted time and money with this company, never again. read more

I purchased and Patton Landscape, 2909 W. WashingtonCenter Road in Fort Wayne, delivered and planted two trees for me 2+ years ago. The young man that planted them did an excellent job and both trees are thriving. Last year I had some older trees removed so I once again visited Patton Landscape to find replacement trees. I dealt with Rick Patton this time. Previously a lady had handled my purchase and the planting of my trees. This time I was led on a wild goose chase by Mr. Patton, who argued, barked and complained about every customer he had served in his entire lifetime. I ignored him as best I could. I wanted trees and to get them planted. I picked one tree that I liked (a river birch) and then walked around his grounds looking for a Colorado blue spruce. There weren't any that I liked so he suggested a Black Hills spruce and told me that he was expecting a truck around the first week of April with some new trees and I would have a better selection. All during these conversations he was gruff and belligerent, but I was determined to find the trees I wanted. I came back on April 10 and he said the truck(s) didn't arrive because everything was screwed up due to the coronavirus pandemic. He was again making negative comments continuously about anything and everything, but I played along just to get my trees and be done. He said to come back in a couple weeks and they should have the trees. I came back on 4-24 and as I was there a truck did arrive and all the workers were involved in unloading the truck, so I told them I would return the next day, Saturday. Bear in mind that Patton was offering a "buy one tree, get one free" special thru the end of April. When I arrived Saturday, Rick Patton came outside from their office area and I immediately asked him where I could look at the new trees that had arrived the day before. He immediately said that the new trees would not be included in the buy one, get one free special, and that he had told me that before. I told him he had not stated that before, otherwise I would have made my selections earlier and not kept returning. He said "Well, I'm telling you now!" in the belligerent manner that he does so well. He then stated he didn't want to sell me anything, didn't like me, and to get off his property! I'm not a newbie to dealing with people such as him, but I learned very quickly that you couldn't trust a word that comes out of his mouth. I told him then what I already knew about him and that he wouldn't be getting my business. He said "Good!" I will never again do business with Patton Landscaping, and with Rick Patton as the owner I'm amazed he stays in business. I've heard many complaints about the way he treats customers and does business, but I passed them off as just disgruntled customers. I found out personally what a jackass he truly is. I hope future customers pay heed to what I experienced. I wasted much time, gas and energy dealing with this man for nothing! ast September 19, 2019, my wife and I decided to add some bushes to our landscaping We stopped at Patton Landscaping located at 2909 West Washington Center Road. The actual owner came out and helped us with our purchases. We have worked with the owner many times, in fact I have spent over $20,000 buying trees and bushes from this local business. We bought 4 bushes and I paid cash and they would come out the following weak and plant the bushes. Again, we have used Patton's Nursery many times, because the people that come out to plant the trees or bushes and very professional and care of what they do. Another reason we like Patton's nursery is that they provide a one year warranty for their products. So far, we have never had to use the warranty and we were always satisfied of what we purchased and what they planted. This spring one of the bushes, Hydrangea tree started to bloom but died due to a cold snap. We watched the tree hoping it would re-bud and snap back but it died. Around the May time frame we visited Patton Landscaping and spoke with the owner and he said to cut back on the branches and the tree will re-bud. We did what he said, but nothing happened. We visited Patton Landscaping in July asking for another Hydrangea tree with our receipt and the warranty paper he gave us. The owner started to insult me and telling us it was our fault the tree died and told us to get off of his land. He was wound up and acted like a big bully. I intend to file a claim in Better Business and I will never go back to this business again. I do believe that we need to support small businesses and I know there are some local legit small business Landscaping companies that will work with the public, and honor warranties. If you decide to buy any landscaping items, I would avoid Patton Landscape company, and please pass this post on to your family and friends. read more
