After a high school and college career of competitive sports, I became a road runner, culminating in the NYC Marathon in '95. Two years later, I was a chronic limper. Eleven years later, I had both hips replaced. The discomfort before and after the replacements had caused my body to veer far from the sacred geometries of the body. Fascia and other forms of support had evolved to "help". At the same time, however, they locked my body into the wrong positions. They had "robbed Peter to pay Paul." I have practiced yoga for 10 years. I thought that it would fix everything, but I struggled with chronic back pain after exercise. I still I got a Chinese medicine consultation and shiatsu massage. I love the office and rooms. It's very warm and relaxing and surprisingly quiet for being on the strip in Northampton. It was partly this peaceful environment and partly Jennifer's gentle manner that had me totally calm and relaxed in minutes. I had never had shiatsu before and I have to tell you.. Try shiatsu some time in your life! It's not just a normal massage feeling. It's transformative. I felt it in my whole body. It wasn't just about an isolated region she was manipulating at the moment, there was a greater purpose to every piece of the treatment. After my Chinese medicine session, I took a nap.
