I wanted to update that the owner reached out to me 'educating' me on how the swastika is actually a Hindu and Buddhist symbol. I was fully aware of this when I wrote my review. The justification was it was being 'reclaimed'; however, this has become such a prolific hate symbol, that I believe it can't be reclaimed. Even though it wasn't tilted which is what that Nazi party did when they used it, when you see that symbol, you think one thing. At the time Charlottesville had just happened as well, and I felt it was super insensitive to have that put-on display and sold. I also question your morals and values if you choose to wear a swastika because it is it has been permanently branded a hate symbol, especially if you are living in the US and Western world. read more

I went to Patty's for tattoos on my feet. Corresponded with Patty by email at the beginning. She responded very quickly and at the odd hours I keep. I sent her some artwork and she quoted me a price and forwarded the email chain to Anna, the artist she thought would do a good job. Patty is booked well in advance, but has several other artists working in her shop. Anna also responed to the emails proptly and I made an appointment. I showed up for my appointment a bit early but was taken right back. Anna spent about 10 minutes prepping - making everything sterile, which was good to see. Then she placed the transfer on my feet and we decided to change the orientation a bit. When it was set, she got to work. A pig on one foot and a rooster on the other - total time in the chair was about two and a half hours. But Anna did a great job. Alternated between feet to let the pain subside - and it was painful! These were not my first tattoos, but the most painful. At the end, I was very happy with the way they turned out. The final price was even a bit less than the quoted price. I highly recommended this shop and Anna. Couldn't be more pleased. read more

Edited - after nearly 2 months the tattoo looked worse and worse so I am changing this review to 2 stars. After really looking closely at it and admitting to myself it wasn't done well, I decided to get it re-done someplace else. I have also decided to post pics of the work from here so people can see for themselves. Original review: I like the cleanliness and layout of this place. I saw Craig for a tattoo and he was great with making conversation during the tattoo itself. However, when I first arrived and wanted some changes to his sketch based off the images I sent him (which I was told beforehand would be ok), he seemed bothered to go back to the drawing board. I got pretty nervous but then my mind was eased after he re-sketched my vision and it was more of what I wanted. It would have been nice for him to be more receptive from the beginning when his first sketch wasn't quite what I had in mind. During the process, he was great. I enjoyed chatting with him and learning about his background. He also asked questions about me and it was nice to get my mind off some of the pain associated with needles drilling ink into your flesh. My tattoo required a background/foreground and when finished, the depth perspective was a little off but that's me being nitpicky. I loved it anyway but after it healed I could see some of the lines were sloppy. I still love my tattoo because it represents something important to me, but the line work could definitely have been cleaner. That's why I'm going with 3 stars. An A-Ok place and an A-ok experience overall. read more

To start I made an appointment, but did not realize I should have sent a picture of what I wanted before my tattoo. That was my mistake, I now know that is what should have happened. But if it was such a big issue I should have received an email, text. Phone call or something saying this would be an issue. My appointment was at 4pm, did not get in the room until 4:45. I felt very uncomfortable when I did try to explain what I wanted and it almost felt adversarial when I mentioned any thing I wanted. So I ended up getting the only thing he wanted to do and was told he had 20 years experience. When I was getting the tattoo, I was put in an awkward position and not made to feel comfortable at all. Then after he did the cover up of the initials I wanted, I requested a touch up on the rest of the tattoo, but was told he had another appointment, by this time it was only 5:20. So for the hour appointment I booked I only received 40 minutes. When he did get done with the tattoos and he was explaining what to do to take care of it, I told him I wear hearing aids and couldn't hear, yet again made to feel let it was a burden. I had a tattoo done before at the shop and was extremely surprised by the treatment I received that time. Worst experience and now I have to find another artist to finish what I had scheduled. read more

Craig and Patty, the main artists at Patty's Art Spot own the shop and are both really friendly, great people. I got my 6th tattoo at Patty's Art Spot with Craig. He used to work at Thinkin' Ink on the downtown campus and he had done a couple tattoos on my friends so I trusted him to do my piece. I was reallllllllllllllllllly impressed with my tattoo and he was extremely professional. Everything went smoothly and the prices are great. I would recommend both Patty and Craig to anyone looking to get a tattoo in Morgantown. The shop is super clean with great original artwork on the walls. They are both really happy to work with you on your design and open to different ideas. The other people working at the shop are also very nice. The whole environment is a great one. Charlie is really funny. I love this place and can't wait to be back in the area to get another one!! read more

I got my R2D2 tattoo with Cory Phillips. He was super nice, he made a unique design for me and I really love it. I went all the way from Maryland to Morgantown, WV to get him tattoo me cause I really like his work and also cause he understands my obsession with Star Wars, since he is a big fan as well. I would totally recommend getting a tattoo with Cory, he is super cool, and a great artist. The environment of the shop is very pleasant, I felt super comfortable besides the pain, and the time went by fast. And he also gave me 3 Star Wars action figures, how cool is that?! :) I also loved all the art work in the shop. read more

Patty did my first tattoo in 1995 and I went back in 2010 to have it reworked. She is a world class artist! I live in San Francisco now, and have recently wanted some new art - but finding someone as talented as The Mistress of Pain is nearly impossible. She's well worth the wait! Originally she did a butterfly on my back, and I had her put an Egyptian blue lotus (water lily) under it. I love it so much! It's so vivid and colorful - and most of all - it's realistic! She is so talented!! Honestly, I'm not sure I can have anyone else work on me, ever. I'll have to come back to WV for my tattoo fix. read more
