But aside from that, she is extremely unprofessional. i have a 1-year old son and am sometimes alone with him as my husband gets his work schedules a little late and I don't know until a couple days before if I will be alone with the baby or not. It's been difficult for me to drive alone with him as of recently. That being said, I cancelled his past appointment an hour and a half prior because i decided I wouldn't be able to bring the dog and the baby alone all the way to islamorada as it would be too troublesome. He gets extremely cranky in the car seat and I have to practically fight him in order to get him in it. I explained to her my situation, apologized and rescheduled (she never once mentioned a cancellation fee). Upon, his next appt, my husband took him and was about 9 minutes late. The appt was at 1 and we didn't get a phone call or the dog back until 5:30pm. We called twice in between 1 and 5:30 and she didnt tell us that we had to pay her an extra FIFTY dollars for canceling his last appt. I have never seen any cancellation policy written anywhere but it was extremely unprofessional for her to wait to tell us we had to pay for the cancellation upon arriving to pick him. she has always been so kind and I have brought him here for so long. It's extremely unfortunate. I understand cancellation policies but I don't appreciate unprofessional approaches to situations nor do I appreciate the lack understanding or compassion regarding my situation with my toddler. Just lost a long time customer. Not to mention, almost every one of his nails was bleeding when we got him as if she took her frustration out on him.

Bad enough that I had to drive with one hand through a heavy storm with one hand while I held the shaking dog with the other. All the while having my two little girls on speaker phone, crying because they thought they killed the dog. I arrived with white knuckles on my steering wheel hand and totally frazzled from the drive and freaking out, crying kids. Much to my pleasant surprise, the team at this hospital was top notch. They were attentive, professional, thorough and very empathetic. It was so good that I think I will have to shift my schedule and go there for regular visits. Having always been made to wait around endlessly in the consulting room at prior appointments, which made our dog anxious, we opted to be outside. We were kept waiting for 20 minutes, a lifetime when faced with such a deeply emotional event. I sat in a chair and held my dog close to my chest as Dr Crosetto gave him his "sedative". Moments later, he became bewildered and panicked and tried to get off my lap. I held on so tight as he pulled his body rigid and howled out in pain and then went completely limp in my arms. Dr Crosetto came back out and had to give two shots instead of one before his heart finally stopped. I am traumatized as I lay awake nights reliving what appeared to be torture. How do I find peace, when I actually paid someone to treat him this way! I have had many pets put to sleep over the years and all of them passed peacefully in my arms. In an attempt to put this behind me, I sent Dr Crosetto/Upper Keys Veterinary Hospital an email asking for an explanation for my pets panic, pain and distress that day. My email of May 1st has been met with silence. I'm desperate to put this behind me and in the hope of some good coming out of this dreadful experience, I share this in memory of my precious pet who deserved so much better.

It's not a huge space and parking is a little tight but there's parking on the street. The employee that helped me I forgot his name but he was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the products he sold. They have a little bit of everything from dog food, cat food, bedding and even spa treatments. I'm not in the area a lot but when I am and want to do some dog shopping I will definitely come here.
