I have to start this review by saying that I had the good fortune to not be here for me, but rather…read moremy husband. Hubbie had put off dealing with a painful tooth for over a year. Why? Idk. Occasionally I'd casually ask him when he was planning to make an appointment. Not nagging, just curiosity. It's his mouth and pain tolerance level, not mine. Every once and a while we'd be enjoying dinner on the couch watching a show and he'd do this sudden sharp inhale and I knew he'd hit his tooth again. He scheduled plenty of car maintenance appointments during the year plus that his tooth was hurting, but not a dentist appointment. Cis men. *shakes head* ANYWAY, I guess it finally got to a point where he could put it off no longer and he got a dental appointment and they told him- rather predictably after putting it off so long- that he required a root canal, and they referred him here. I've never been the lucky recipient of a root canal, so I wasn't sure if he was going to be okay to drive after the appointment. He was confident he would go straight to work afterwards. I wasn't so sure. I drove him to the location and he checked in; the front desk staff seemed friendly. They had free chapstick and squares of chocolate (Ghirardelli!), which I totally snagged a couple of, despite not being the patient, LOL. I found it funny they had chocolate there... maybe as a "Look what you'll get to enjoy again once your mouth is fixed..." Haha! We didn't have to wait long before his name was called and he went back. I didn't know how long the procedure would be, but I'd brought my journal and a book to pass the time. (Honestly, it was a bit annoying they didn't supply me/us a little more information ahead of time.) They also had an absolutely MASSIVE flatscreen in the lobby playing some version of Iron Chef (again with the food at the oral surgeon! Such cruelty... lol). The lobby itself was posh AF. Like, a little TOO nice, y'know? Like they must be making bank. This wasn't some family dentist office where they have the cute little corner with LEGOs and an old VHS player CRT TV for the kiddos. Oh well, aha. That said, my hubbie only shelled out $250 (after insurance- who knows how much the insurance paid) for the procedure, which he was grateful for. (Unfortunately, the temporary crown and custom crown were not so affordable, but that was at another separate office.) My hubbie seems to have also been one of the lucky ones with no adverse effects. He required only a couple doses of ibuprofen post-procedure and reported repeatedly and frequently how wonderful it was to not be in pain while eating anymore. XD Maybe next time he'll go in sooner... though honestly here's hoping for no "next time" at all!

WILL NOT return after my experience this morning! SECOND visit for a single root canal; because…read moresaid tooth was enflamed, they apparently couldn't finish in one session. So they left me stuck for 7 days over Thanksgiving with a sore mouth and temporary filling. They charge me an extra $86 on top of what was quoted...with no mention of the additional cost AT ALL. Just "hurry up and pay!" While in the chair, I overheard another customer saying he will pay 250 now and 250 in December, and the receptionist had no issue. The man paid and left. I'm set to come back for at least 1 more root canal..perhaps 2. I asked if I can pay half now half on my next visit and the receptionist immediately says "payment is due at service," I bring up the other gentleman and her willingness to work with him. She starts rambling about how "they had someone never pay, and they've been burned before." Ok, so you're insinuating that the other gentleman was trustworthy, but I look as if I won't pay? So you treat some clients graciously and others mean nothing ? MANY dentists in the area have payment plans. We're 30 days away from Christmas; I'm paying almost $2,000 out of pocket to see them; dealing with the pain and inconvenience of coming back for multiple visits while raising 3 kids and not only charge me additional money, but also refuse to give me the same treatment they gave another. In the medical field, these are bad standards of practice. There are SO MANY other dentists who will work with their clients with payment plans and are understanding. Dr.Ji and her assistants are gentle and do a good job, but after that treatment. I won't ever return!

Each time the process is painless and actually pleasant because Eric is such a nice guy!. He is also a wonderful advocate for his patients. My daughter is now living in Denver and she had a problem with one of her teeth. Dr. Grutzner took the time to call and talk with the endodontist in Denver about my daughter's treatment plan. Got there early today only to find out I wasn't on the schedule and they were full and couldn't see me. The doctors may be great, but I left a different Metro Dental location due to incompetent reception/scheduling staff.
