Paul's Pub was recommended by a delivery person. I was unable to find a specific location on Google Earth, however, other searches pulled it up. If you are searching for a restaurant that serves great food, reasonable prices in a warm atmosphere, this is a great selection! For years, I was unable to find a restaurant that served a chicken dinner. Not sandwiches or something disguised in a sauce, but broasted chicken dinner with sides. Well, this is the spot! Four pieces, cooked at ordering, tasty, moist and met my expectations. The menu has variety and other menu meals at adjacent tables appeared to be equally tempting. Our server was extremely friendly and was able to provide insights into the 50 plus year history of the pub, but also coming events at the pub and area all the while making sure our meal was pleasant. This was our first visit, but this is now on our short list! We recommend Paul's for an enjoyable meal.

Stopped by today for early dinner. We were pleasantly delightfully greeted by Cora our hostess. She thanked us for coming in. Our hostess was friendly and provided excellent service. Paul's is a hidden gem. The pictures don't even come close to the quality and tastefulness of our dinners. And exceptional experience. Significantly Exceeded all of our expectations!!!!!

WOW! Grab a chair and relax as I take you on a lengthy review of how great this place is and to test how much good one is allowed by yelp to write about a dining establishment. If you don't have to patience to read my novel- come on in the food is good and the service is even better. Being featured in Martha Stewart Living for their Perch basket, this should be on everybody's radar and everyone's "go-to" place while traveling in northern Michigan. A tourist destination for sure, with the walls decorated in antlers and stuffed game. The cabin feel makes this the perfect up north dining destination. Guys night out? Huge bar in the center of the restaurant and plenty of pull tabs and keno to play. Just about a 15 minute drive from downtown Gaylord and you won't regret the small town charm this place brings. Stopped in with my family and had a great experience. Being a weekday at 5 this place was not busy at all. Parking lot is huge and has a gas station next to it so if you snowmobile this would be a great winter dinner spot. My wife ordered the wings and potato skins, and I ordered the half perch basket. My kids went with the kids quesadilla and the grilled cheese. Some of the best made kids meals I have seen in awhile, I would order the quesadilla for myself... and yes the kids menu has plenty of kids options, even the pickiest eater (my child) had options... More on the food... The wings were a 10/10. Crispy and tossed in a mild hot sauce. This place has an entire broasted chicken section and feature a wing Wednesday special. And yes, 10x better than Buffalo Wild Wings. My perch basket is a show stopper. No question why this was featured in Martha Stewart. Lightly battered, flakey, and delicious. The perch basket comes with 2 sides and a roll for a great price. We ordered potato skins as a appetizer and these were not skimpy in anyway, just look at the picture and you can see that there was a pound of crispy bacon on top. And the service! We had the pleasure of being in Linda's section... and she has to be the nicest, most thoughtful server we have ever had. From Bringing out kids crayons and asking if we wanted chocolate milk immediately you could tell she understood what it's like to dine with young children and wanted us to enjoy our time. She went the extra step and put the Welch's fruit snacks in my coat pocket knowing not to give them wind of the scent of these prized snacks. She went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed down to wipes for the kids or maybe for me after digging into the wings. 6 stars out of 5 stars. The friendly locals just add to how tremendous of a place is truly is.

Pretty fabulous. I had perch dinner. Delicate and flavorful. Husband had broasted chicken. Wow... $7 for 4 pieces and 2 sides. Coctails & wine excellent. Fabulous service. Rustic interior.

This place is a must if your visiting Gaylord or driving through! If you love sweet potato fries, you'll love these. My go to order is always the lake perch & sweet potato fries. The tartar sauce is awesome and you can tell how fresh the fish is and also love how the fish is not over fried. All served with a warm roll and salad to start. Hidden gem.

    onion rings in a basket

Awesome broasted chicken, hand buttered cod and hand battered onion rings with jalapeño ranch dressing. Chicken was juicy! Great service too! Will be back!1

Cold salads ... delicious cod. bacon blue cheese burgers to die for! The best fresh fried mushrooms I've ever had my cup never went dry

I got a few vodka sodas, a fountain coke, and my husband and I shared the giantest (yes it's a word) dish of nachos in the world. They were great. We brought the leftovers home to our in laws and although they were cold and soggy, they got demolished in minutes, ha! The service was efficient. Our server wasn't overly friendly but she wasn't rude either, just wanted to get the job done. Would definitely go back for nachos and a drink!

Yes, as a…read morehometown local I'm a little biased for sure but there is something very genuine and honest about the Pub and the people there. No pretension, no putting on airs or trying to impress anyone, everyone coming as they are. You'll rub elbows with local blue collar and service industry people, trust fund kids, wealthy summer residents, everyday folks of all kinds etc. I think a lot of reviews here are from visitors expecting The Pub to be like the Perry Hotel or one of the more tourist oriented places that bends over backwards and caters to summer vacationers. One even mentioned threatening to "Go ski somewhere else" for not being coddled I guess, which I found hilarious. They also seem to mention food a lot. For what it's worth the food is pretty darn good here, though my experience is usually over some appetizers later at night shared with friends over a few drinks. Solid burgers, can't go wrong with the fish & chips and their cheese curds are surprisingly good, easily rivaling anything you'd find in Wisconsin. That said I've always seen this place as a bar first and a place to drink with friends that just happens to have good late night food too. The service is good and the people working are top-notch and good at their job, but sometimes the Pub can get a bit too busy as there's just not a lot of competition that truly rivals it downtown. That's what happens when barely anything is open late in the post-covid world and businesses seem to be closing left and right. If you can keep your ego in check you'll find a pretty rare and valuable thing here which is a local pub welcoming to anybody and truly reflecting the full breadth of the local community.
