Usually Timothy's has good cod dinners but…read morethat night I thought I would try the French dip sandwich, which the menu says is made with shaved prime rib. My daughter-in-law ordered the same. Worst sandwich I ever had. The prime rib had a lot of fat and grizzle - so much that neither of us could even chew half of the meat. When I complained to the waitress, she didn't offer any thoughts on resolving the issue (like an alternate dinner, not charging me, etc.). She didn't even send a manager or owner over to talk to me. Very disappointed. Although I do like their cod dinner on Friday, it may be quite a while before I return to Timothy's. And although I used to recommend Timothy's to visitors and friends, I don't think I can feel good about making any more recommendations in the future.

No pretension, no putting on airs or trying to impress anyone, everyone coming as they are. You'll rub elbows with local blue collar and service industry people, trust fund kids, wealthy summer residents, everyday folks of all kinds etc. I think a lot of reviews here are from visitors expecting The Pub to be like the Perry Hotel or one of the more tourist oriented places that bends over backwards and caters to summer vacationers. One even mentioned threatening to "Go ski somewhere else" for not being coddled I guess, which I found hilarious. They also seem to mention food a lot. For what it's worth the food is pretty darn good here, though my experience is usually over some appetizers later at night shared with friends over a few drinks. Solid burgers, can't go wrong with the fish & chips and their cheese curds are surprisingly good, easily rivaling anything you'd find in Wisconsin. That said I've always seen this place as a bar first and a place to drink with friends that just happens to have good late night food too. The service is good and the people working are top-notch and good at their job, but sometimes the Pub can get a bit too busy as there's just not a lot of competition that truly rivals it downtown. That's what happens when barely anything is open late in the post-covid world and businesses seem to be closing left and right. If you can keep your ego in check you'll find a pretty rare and valuable thing here which is a local pub welcoming to anybody and truly reflecting the full breadth of the local community.

Except for when I'm dining there because I want her to be MY server. They brought bread, which had a variety as well as two types of dipping oil. One was a pesto and I believe the other was a sun-dried tomato and they were both phenomenal. We ate our weight in bread. We had the shrimp fondue appetizer for the table. They were large fried shrimp. Not with much breading just a light coating. And it was served with a Borson cheese dipping sauce that was killer. You can't go wrong. Two of us had fillets two had the crabcakes and I had the cowboy ribeye special. Two of our diners also had a cup of tomato soup and split a wedge salad. See pictures. The wedge salad had an amazing dressing on it and they split it in the kitchen. The tomato soup was very tasty. I would have that again. The crabcakes were excellent without a lot of breading. It had a Romano sauce that had red pepper in it, which is not something I like, but they were very tasty. The crabcakes came with excellent oven roasted potatoes. Very crispy very good. The fillets came with a mixed medley of vegetables and a mashed potato, and my ribeye steak came with grilled asparagus and the mashed potatoes. If I were going to have any complaint it would be that the steaks were just slightly cooked more than I would've liked. Next time I would order rare. We had the carrot cake and the lemon cake for dessert. Carrot cake was good but the lemon cake was out of this world. Absolutely amazing. We also had the chocolate martini which was fabulous.
