Went to this pub for our anniversary. Sometimes you just want nachos and not a fancy, expensive steak dinner. Romantic, I know! I got a few vodka sodas, a fountain coke, and my husband and I shared the giantest (yes it's a word) dish of nachos in the world. They were great. We brought the leftovers home to our in laws and although they were cold and soggy, they got demolished in minutes, ha! The service was efficient. Easily the best bar in Petoskey and honestly one of the best ones I've been to anywhere. Yes, as a hometown local I'm a little biased for sure but there is something very genuine and honest about the Pub and the people there. No pretension, no putting on airs or trying to impress anyone, everyone coming as they are. You'll rub elbows with local blue collar and service industry people, trust fund kids, wealthy summer residents, everyday folks of all kinds etc. I think a lot of reviews here are from visitors expecting The Pub to be like the Perry Hotel or one of the more tourist oriented places that bends over backwards and caters to summer vacationers. One even mentioned threatening to "Go ski somewhere else" for not being coddled I guess, which I found hilarious. They also seem to mention food a lot. For what it's worth the food is pretty darn good here, though my experience is usually over some appetizers later at night shared with friends over a few drinks. Solid burgers, can't go wrong with the fish & chips and their cheese curds are surprisingly good, easily rivaling anything you'd find in Wisconsin. That said I've always seen this place as a bar first and a place to drink with friends that just happens to have good late night food too. The service is good and the people working are top-notch and good at their job, but sometimes the Pub can get a bit too busy as there's just not a lot of competition that truly rivals it downtown. That's what happens when barely anything is open late in the post-covid world and businesses seem to be closing left and right. If you can keep your ego in check you'll find a pretty rare and valuable thing here which is a local pub welcoming to anybody and truly reflecting the full breadth of the local community. read more

Let's be very clear--this is a local's place. FOOD: The portions are plentiful! I ordered cheese curds and a burger with fries...but in hindsight I should have skipped the fries. Curds were enough for a table of four. Overall taste of the food, however, is average. Despite being a good looking B&B Burger, the bacon was burnt and the burger itself didn't have much seasoning. This is a weird little hole in the wall bar and restaurant. Lots of wacky and unique items hung all over the walls makes for a fun conversation starter. 22 draft beers on tap and a good selection of alcohol. Food is surprisingly good. Great atmosphere and interesting decor. My drink was good but they were out of what my husband ordered and no apology. We wanted to order food and were given menus but the bartender was neither friendly nor fast and he passed us four times slowly and never looked at us or asked us if we'd like to order. He was friendly to the group that arrived after us; perhaps they were acquainted. We really were ready to spend money and have a nice time there but the treatment we received made us gulp our drinks and get out. We won't be back. read more

This is our go to pub in Petoskey. The ambience is casual and fun with all the different types of signs on the walls. The service is good and we love the food. Our favorite is the nachos. Their burgers and onion rings are delicious too. The menu is basic bar food but the food is good and they have amazing service too. Drinks have generous pours as well. Great place. read more

Tried this place due to some locals recommending it and was super disappointed. To start, the energy and environment are as actually cool. People were having fun and it has a dive bar vibe. It seemed cool when we walked in and our waitress was awesome. We ordered a pretzel for an appetizer and it was crazy salty and just not very good. We ordered side salads and they came out and were just okay. We ordered the salmon with a side of broccoli and coleslaw and the coleslaw was probably the worse coleslaw I've ever tasted. The broccoli also had like no seasoning on it. My grilled cheese which was supposed to be their "#1 pick" was just meh. Nothing bad with it just didn't taste flavorful. If you want local color this place is an absolute must! Very eclectic decor; historic, funny, crazy, worldly, interesting... it's fun. The included picture has a patriotic moose and just to his left are some funny signs. We sat at the bar and Meg, our bartender was fantastic. Mitchell's was recommended from a friend as his favorite spot to go. While surprised that it was open on a Sunday, we walked in and all the decor just gives you the right vibe for a dive bar. There is free popcorn in the back as well, so I would definitely enjoying that while sipping on cocktails. We did not actually enjoy dinner there - it was pretty standard fried and bar food, which wasn't something we wanted, but the drinks were heavy pours and the bartender and servers were super friendly! Lots of fun decor in a small pub. We used three tables of four for our group and had a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and a walleye basket. No complaints - everybody was satisfied with their choices. A couple of the guys enjoyed a beer. We were appreciative of the employees, just showing up for work these days deserves some praise. I've never felt so unwelcome at a bar. From the moment we walked in, the main girl bartender was rude and dismissive (Amanda?)--not just to us, but to every other patron who entered. The irony? The place is covered with signs that say, "Be nice or pay 50$ to the bar," yet the staff doesn't seem to follow their own rule. We are not from the area but had seen positive reviews so we tried it for a birthday dinner. We were so disappointed in the lackluster service from seating to ordering to checking back in after food delivery. The perch was almost nonexistent in the heavy breading and the waitress just walked away when we tried to share our disappointment. Needless to say we won't be back. Took the kids half expecting to be told they weren't allowed, but there were lots of families. They had popcorn and/or peanuts to keep the kids busy and happy. They also had lots of art and taxidermy, birdhouses and fun decor for them to admire. Service was great, prompt and friendly. The food was excellent. Kids ordered a hamburger and chicken fingers, both were great. Husband and I ordered the french onion soup... oh my gosh! Both our kids (2 & 6) ended up taking our soup leaving us with their meals. Besides a warm inviting atmosphere and staff, you'll find a solid menu with everything from great salads, soups to just plain old normal great food. This pub is a cool place. Lots of antique things hanging from the ceiling and on the walls. It definitely has a vibe that appears to attract everyone there on a Friday night. Food was excellent ! We had burgers and onion rings. Batter on the rings was light and crispy. We watched other plates of food being served and the fish looked fantastic ! We would definitely return and just hope for a better server. One bad experience won't keep us away. I'd like to think maybe she was just overwhelmed or it was her first time. Either way our food was brought out hot by another server and we had enough to drink with our meal that we only really needed her to bring the check. Had olive burger, which was good. Waitress asked if I would like to upgrade from the chips to fries. Sure I said. Bill shows up, and my ~$12.00 burger was correct, but my "up charge" for fries was $5.50! After questions it I was shown on the menu that is listed at that amount. This place was a saving grace for late night food. When we walked in we weren't sure what we were getting into. The decor is vintage and funky. There are peanut and peanut shells on the floor so if you had an allergy this would be a place to avoid. We were quickly greeted by a bartender who took our order and offered some suggestions on the menu. I had the nachos. They were MASSIVE! They were also loaded with toppings and delcious! They dont skimp on a anything. I like how they layered the cheese on allmof the levels of the chips.The prices were fair and overall, the rest of the apps and food were decent.
