This place is incredible for you and your dog. You can't help but smile and feel joy as soon as you walk in! They offer a plethora of services for your dog as in daycare, grooming, boarding, training, and many many more. Offer a dog park class if your dog needs help being around others in a stimulating environment. The grounds crew are absolutely incredible and are on top of all situations helping you with whatever you need. I highly recommend asking questions to the grounds crew in the dog park area about anything you might want to know they will help you.They do offer food and beverage service and haven't had the best experience when it comes to ordering food, but if you are looking for a bite to eat with friends without your dog service shouldn't be an issue. Fun place for dogs and people alike! Really nice set up with an indoor and outdoor dog park and a bar with a patio. Dogs are not allowed in the bar but you can leave your pup in the dog park while you eat or bring your dog out on the patio. Special menu for dogs - my dog liked the meatballs quite a lot! My small dog loves to come to this dog park. He gets along well with other dogs large and small. My concern is with management- there seems to be no concern shown when a human is seriously injured. I have contacted them 4 times since my accident there on2/16/24. They canted be worried about litigation since a pet owner signs a gazillion Releases before stepping foot on the dog park premises . Brandon the groomer is very good. I continued to give Paws and Pints a try even though previous to Brandon I had some poor grooming Experience. For a person the app and appt system it is very awkward and not user friendly. There was a problem with the appt I had scheduled. I was trying to get it corrected and find a solution. What is most upsetting is the way I was treated by the manager I talked to. She was very unsympathetic and rude in my opinion. I am Very disappointed that the appt I wrote down and made IN person when I left my last appt was either changed or input incorrectly. read more

This is gonna be a tough one. I came from New York to this lovely area to try out the food since I've been hearing this is the place to go to have a different experience. I gotta tell you the service is awful I haven't been asked once throughout the whole 45 minutes being here if I needed a refill on my drink or if I had any concerns to the food I was eating, but I could tell you to stay away from the Mexican street corn it had way to much blue cheese or whatever cheese I was eating. The dog park and area was a 10/10. The staff kindly removed an aggressive dog that stomped on my friends' puppy and the puppy had a blast! The restaurant side needs some work. I didn't catch the servers name but her last name was Fregoli? Maybe? As a fellow server, you have to read your audience. She didn't and made us all uncomfortable and I couldn't tell if it was her personality but she was so scatter brained. There were about 5 or less tables and most were 2 to 3 tops. The food was cold. She mixed up my receipt with my friends receipts and overcharged me. She didn't know what the condiments available for chicken tenders were? When I asked for the receipt it took her about 10 minutes to print a receipt. They use Toast so it should've taken less than 2. I think she needs additional training if i'm being honest. Such a fun place! The only reason I am only giving it 4 stars is because the indoor dog area is pretty small. You would think that since we are in Iowa that they would've made this area a lot bigger considering our weather is not great 60% of the year. I was also disappointed that the large outdoor dog park has been closed for various reasons each time we have gone. We drove 9 hours to come to Paws & Pints and I instantly fell in love. This place is heaven and exactly what I was looking for. My fur baby Leo is 5 months old and was a bit nervous but the staff, owner and environment were positive and welcoming. They made him comfortable and feel safe. By the second day of visiting, he was playing with the water and running all over the place. As a dog mom, this made me so happy. I would 10/10 recommend and definitely worth the trip. This place is simply dangerous for your pet. I have been twice and I have seen 3-4 dogs injured each time. Some owners do not watch their dogs and some are very aggressive. My dog was injured this time.. I will not be back, the control level is to low. Aggressive dogs are not controlled and will injure other dogs. This place is literal heaven for dogs. I was honored to attend a soft opening, and got a first hand look at this glorious location. First impression when you first walk in, is this place is professional, clean, and modern and incredibly welcoming. I got to experience the large indoor dog park and the bar and grill. They have giant flat screens within the dog indoor park, brand new toys and turf. With windows that open so you can leave your dog to play and enjoy some food or drinks. I got to try the buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich with fries and let me tell you that sandwich was insane complemented by housemaid spicy pickles. Food was 10 out of 10. I also tried the corn and plantains appetizer, and it was perfect. It honestly reminded me of when I used to write food reviews for the Des Moines register because the food was so good and I didn't go with the intention of writing about it! I would highly recommend this place, although I didn't bring my dog, I was visiting while I was at work, but I can tell you that my dogs would love it. I am attaching a few photos I got of my food. I would highly recommend P&P for anyone needing doggy daycare, a place to play and enjoy a quick bite while your pup plays, grooming, training, and boarding. Just a quick note with boarding. They have beautiful stalls for animals needing to stay over and some of them have video monitoring as an option so you can take a peek at your pet while you're out of town. I think that is amazing and would make me as a pet parent feel really secure about the stay. I cannot recommend this enough. So, let me start by saying we didn't have our dog with us!! So, this review is based only on the restaurant/bar amenities. We wanted to check out their menu and happened to be in the neighborhood. But, overall, food wasn't great. I hate saying that but it just wasn't. We ordered cheese curds and those were good! But, our entrees were bad. We got burnt ends, side salad, chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich meals. The chicken sandwich and burnt ends were BURNT and not how burnt ends are supposed to be. Like they were black/charred. Unfortunately, none of us liked our meals. The atmosphere and drink selection are what get it to 3 instead of 1 star. Great choices for drinks both hard alcohol and beers! For about 80% of the time, this is the nicest dog park you could ever really expect in any location, let alone Des Moines. The park staff is significantly better than anything you'd expect, and the dogs are very well behaved and they have plenty of room to run and play. When it is an average night, it's quite literally the best place you can take your dog, bar none. Unfortunately, management is also fixated on the bar aspect and occasionally runs events that significantly decrease the dog's experience to drag in non-regulars and overcharge them on drinks and ruin the entire mood of the park. There is a DJ they wheel in semi-regularly that plays blaringly loud music in closed spaces, which is a terrible notion for a dog, not only for its mood, but safety as well given how riled up the dogs get and makes it when any of these terrible events are happening. You can't even bring your dog because the clientele just becomes a gaggle of undesirables and it's no longer a safe place for them to enjoy themselves. So, I would check their calendar before going. If it's an average Tuesday afternoon and nothing special, it's a tremendous 5-star place to be. But on a Friday night, I doubt I would go even if paid to attend, it's atrocious. If they would just stop trying to cater to drunks and miscreants and focus on the actual community that their whole business is designed to target, it would easily be a five star location consistently. read more

You are supposed to keep an eye on your pup and watch for bathroom etc, some people forget to watch but the people working there are watching, will pick up pups and take up owners!! I love bringing my pup here !!! He's an older dog and I haven't brought him to a dog park since his breed is vicious' and everyone there just loves in him ! He likes to be right by my side the whole time and they try to get him to do something else. The food here is amazing!! Definitely recommend the soft pretzels with queso for a starter, and the fried chicken wrap with a side of fries! The serving staff is amazing! Daycare and lodging people are amazing! I lodged my dogs when I went on vacation and got the luxury suite, for both my dogs! And every night they were in there cuddling with my pups! (They're big cuddle bugs). They let my dogs out together because one of them is aggressive towards other dogs, and let my non dog aggressive one out with the others, so he could get in some play time! The groomers are amazing! They are so loving and gentle with my pups! My dog doesn't like water much, and they told me he did very good! He came out smelling very good, and lookin handsome as ever! We were staying in Des Moines as a pit stop during a road trip. On the way into town I found this and had to stop to check it out! We called and they walked us through the registration and vaccination requirements so we were ready to go when we walked in. Although we could only stay a little while because they were closing everyone was super friendly and welcoming especially Gabriel. They made sure we were taken care of and that Murphy, our puppy, had a great time. There are 3 big areas for dogs to play with each other and run around and plenty of tennis balls for fetch. As a first time dog owner I had so much to learn. More than I could have ever imagined. Especially when you have a dog with bouts of reactionary issues. Just over a year after I adopted my dog, Paws and Pints opened - and we were so excited! Finally, a place to let my dog get out his energy, talk to other dog owners, and just relax. We had a few bumps at the beginning when we visited (reactionary issues with Birdie), however, let me tell you this - P&P staff, management, and ownership immediately worked with me to get my dog into an amazing training program with their onsite trainers at Imperial Canine Obedience. They did not treat my dog like he was a bad dog, or me a bad owner. They advocated for us. Paws and Pints, from the moment we walk into the door, we feel welcome. They know who we are, remember our names and greet us with a smile and a little laugh because, "oh man...here's Birdie!" The Bark Squad (the amazing people who work in the dog permitted areas) know Birdie's personality and can anticipate his wants/needs/behaviors at the park. We know they don't just remember our names, but remember our personality - how awesome is that? One of the biggest things I would like to stress is that we BOTH feel so safe at Paws and Pints - and that is so important to us. Birdie and I want to feel safe, and want those around us to feel safe, because that is what makes this business work so well. We know Paws and Pints is an advocate for us and will do whatever they can to teach, learn, communicate and all around love your family.
