Range is my daughter's favorite place to come on Saturdays for mom and daughter dinner tonight we had such a great experience ! Our server, Brooklyne, was absolutely wonderful, attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. She had such a welcoming energy and really added to the night. I also appreciated that Riley and Michael, the managers, personally came over to introduce themselves and check in on our table. That extra touch of hospitality made the experience feel even more special and showed how much they care about their guests. Landed at this place for our NYE Dinner & was not disappointed. The atmosphere was very mellow, moody, 'business casual' attire. We all dress to the 10's but there were families, jeans, sweaters, people of all types! Service was great, always had a full drink & water. Provided all options for specials & knowledge of what the favorites were. They did have a minimal menu for the holiday, but the options were not lacking. We go every few months...food is generally very good, but service can be a bit hit or miss. Our last couple of servers have been a bit tentative, including our vist last weekend. On this trip, we were seated on a busy on a Saturday night. We got in our drink orders, and after a bit of a wait they arrived. My first martini was about 2/3 full, so when I ordered another I expected the same, but it was filled to the brim! Not really complaining, but made it hard to know what I'd be getting. Bar orders were slow as they were apparently training a new bartender. My wife splurged and got the Bison Filet Stir Fry -- delicious! On the higher end of the menu pricing at $36 (4/24). I got the Feta + Herb Crusted Salmon. Also, quite tasty and perfectly cooked. We did also use the Yelp Check-In for a free appetizer (choice of wings or croquettes at our visit). We got the croquettes, and they are very tasty! We took half of them home for yet another meal. Prices here are a bit on the high side for the DSM area in this type of venue. If the service was as consistently good as the food I wouldn't notice, but since it's not quite up to par at times, I do tend to remember. read more

Food was good, and our second waitress was professional and did an overall good job. Our first waitress/bartender however was a different story. Extremely unprofessional, complaining to patrons about her job and needing "5 minutes" When I ordered my drink (which featured a specific type and brand of alcohol) it was not made using the correct brand. I spoke to our second waitress regarding this, and the bars solution was to make the same drink but as a double instead. At first I thought it was an issue with my since of taste, but I was positive that it was incorrectly made. I made the same drink with the proper brand (which the first waitress assured me they had) and confirmed my suspicion that they didn't make the drink right. read more

Nice size for a big group. The pretzels had two cheeses and both were good. One spicier then the other. The wine selection was large and we had the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Bit of a hidden gem for very nice Sunday Brunch and more. We've eaten here before and had cocktails and beers but haven't written a review. Decided to try it for Sunday brunch with 4 adults and one baby since we could make a reservation and be sure to not have to wait with a baby. The Brunch and lunch menu were very nice with a variety of items for us. Everyone was very happy with their meals which included: Buffalo chicken egg quesadillas with fresh and delicious pico de gallo , vegetable breakfast skillet, crème brulee French toast, cheeseburger with crispy sidewinder fries, and some bloody Mary's and mimosas. Went here a bit ago to get dinner with my family. We just went for the food since we're not really into golfing so I will just speak on that side of things in the review. We ordered pretzel sticks and wings for our appetizers and those were all really good. I personally got one of their flatbread and was pleasantly surprised by it! It is not something I normally eat but it was so delicious! The perfect amount of cheese and crunchiness! And it even headed up good! Our waitress was very nice and quick, even when it started picking up closer to the end of our visit. I liked that the dining area was separated from the golfing areas so it didn't feel so packed and loud in there. It would have been overwhelming if there were people moving all around me. I can't believe this place is not more talked about. My husband took me here for Valentine's Day and I won't lie at first I was like uhh we're going where for Valentine's Day?? But I'm so glad he did because WOW! The steak was the best steak I've ever had in my life. Literally melt in your mouth and seasoned to perfection. We went there for an event, I tried to order 4 different drinks and they were out of of at least one ingredient in each drink before I just settled for wine. If you are a bar you should have the ingredients you are advertising on your menu. It was super disappointing and a complete waste of time for the wait staff as they had no idea what wasn't available. It took close to 1/2 hour before I actually had a drink in hand. I came over by a reference as I was craving a burger. I was excited to stop by as it was recommended. I walked in and the restaurant just opened so they were not that busy. I sat at the bar and the bartender was nice, she greeted me and asked me what to drink and gave me a glass of water right away. A few minutes later I think that manager started chatting with the bartender so I was not being attended. I think that they had a work conversation and it was intense because they kept on going. Finally the bartender came over and took the time to go over the menu with me. I ordered the Bison All American burger and it was delicious. The bacon butter gave it somewhat of a sweet taste and the pretzel bun gave it the salty flavor. The burger was messy and messy burgers are for the most part good. I wanted ketchup and tomatoes and the bartender was very helpful in that instance but never asked me how the burger tasted or followed up to see if I was okay. The manager happened to go by the bar and asked me if everything was good. Over the food was good but the service could improve a little and maybe because they just opened they were not in there game. If I could do it over, I would go to another restaurant. In fact, they should learn from the Texas Roadhouse Bartenders in how to treat and communicate with their clients. I wish them the best but I'll be going some place else next time and if I could have I would have giving them 3.5 stars but it is not possible. Round two for this establishment. Today was an early evening diner in the middle of the week. I honestly thought this place would be busier but I was seated right away. YELP dont forget to check in and get your free App! I ordered the buffalo wings as my free appetizer and a lavender lemonade. Oh I like the lemonade but I might try an adult drink next time. Probably the nicest staff I have encountered in a long time. The Manhattans were amazing and were decently priced -$12. I loved the golf ball ice cube. We started off with the Bison bites and the horseradish sauce, that sauce was phenomenal! My wife had the apple goat cheese salad, this is the only reason why I didn't give the restaurant 5 stars. The cheese on the salad didn't seem to be goat cheese but more like feta. I had the chicken Cesar salad and it was huge but about 4 oz of chicken only game on it and it was an extra charge of $5. They do have a kids menu that was priced awesome. Our kids had chicken strips and a hamburger, they each got one side. They had so many fries left. Range Restaurant + Cocktail Bar was an interesting choice for my favorite dining companion and me. Neither of us are golfers, be it indoor or otherwise. We do enjoy good food though, and there were enough tempting items on the menu at Range to warrant a visit. The restaurant was busy but not packed. We were seated quickly at a table. There are five large rooms for virtual golf that uses real clubs. People definitely seemed to be enjoying themselves in the rooms, but we were definitely not there for that. We settled on a variety of appetizers: The New York Strip Trio, The Parmesan Truffle Brussels Sprouts, Onion Rings, and French Onion Soup. The Strip Trio was great. We enjoyed all three strips, but the elk with Chimichurri was the standout. All were cooked perfectly rare as requested. The elk was so tender it was just mouthwatering. We enjoyed the beef and the bison as well, they just weren't quite as impressive. The sprouts were quite good, although I'd still take balsamic reduction over the parmesan truffle treatment used here. I'd still say that they were quite tasty and I would order them again. The onion rings were cooked perfectly, and the breading stuck well to the onions. There's nothing worse for an onion ring, than biting into it and pulling the whole ring of onion out of the breading. That definitely did not happen here. The French Onion Soup was a bit disappointing, by contrast. I am not sure if this was just a miss or if the soup had just been reducing all day, but it had a consistency closer to gravy than soup, and was excessively salty. We sent it back and they removed it from our bill, as any good restaurant should. The Margherita Flatbread was quite tasty and perfectly crispy. It didn't last long at all. We added the shrimp and balsamic reduction for some extra flavor, and we highly recommend doing it. It makes for quite a delicious flatbread. Overall we very much enjoyed our dinner at Range Restaurant + Cocktail Bar. The New York Strip Trio is highly recommended, as are the Onion Rings, the Parmesan Truffle Brussels Sprouts, and the Margherita Flatbread. read more

This past weekend, my husband and I were at Range Grill + Golf for a surprise last-minute belated birthday party that we had planned. The place is relatively new and looks great on the inside. I just wanted to say that from the initial meeting to set-up the date and menu of the party with manager David was beyond amazing. They were so easy to work with and even though we were only able to order from the lunch menu because we were there earlier in the day (1-3pm) everything was delicious! The staff was accommodating and great with the amount of people we had! They were quick and courteous! The wings are big, juicy and delicious! The ranch was yummy. The dip trio was tasty. The fries were really, really good and requested to be refilled plenty of times by the kids! The Prime Beef flatbread was phenomenal (not pictured). The Harvester Flatbread with Pepperoni added was good as well. Their flatbread is more of a crispy cracker-like crust. The Mac and cheese wasn't bad. The nachos were great and huge! And the ridiculously appetizing Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet with an Ice Cream scoop on top was the cherry on top. We would go back just for that! The two curved screens were golf simulation screens and we used the two other screens for mini-Golf and skee-ball. This place kept 20+ kids fed, entertained and all of the adults happy. I am really surprised this place hasn't taken off more, the food here is simply killer! It is one of the few places you will find around town that has bison. Just about everything here is made from scratch, about the only thing that isn't is the ketchup, but who needs that anyways. Chef Jeff really takes pride in the creative menu he has put together, and there are so many unique items to try. Some of my favorites are the bison steaks, Cancun heat IOWA sweet, the chicken de Burgo, the turkey tenderloin, and the best club sandwich I've ever had. Hidden gem. Happened upon this place and when we walked in, I was a little bit nervous. I think primarily their business comes from those wanting to use the golf simulators. I would rather eat my left arm than endure crappy frozen bar food like they serve in places like Dave & Buster's. To enjoy that you have to already have your drink on. I was so very wrong to assume. They have a great menu featuring many unique types of meat like elk, bison, etc. The steak salad was literally a full head of Romaine lettuce with a huge helping of bison steak. Unfortunately my boyfriend won't buy dinner unless I leave my phone in the car because I may or may not have previously captured his delight with a bison burger in a video. He's been talking for 10 years about "starring" in a tv commercial for a local politician. When I saw him in that commercial wearing shorts and white crew socks with Sperrys, I made the assumption that posting a video of the bison burger consumption on our mutual employer's intranet would be no big deal. Anyway.... That's the reason we don't have pictures of the salad. Believe me it was pretty epic. The lobster flatbread was a little heavy on the mayo/sauce so I'd ask for that on the side next time. Our server... Russell? really was great. So attentive and genuinely excited to share recommendations and they didn't disappoint. They should consider promoting him to work on their marketing. Please go there. There were too many empty tables and I would hate to see the quality go downhill because there's not enough demand. The French onion soup had a mild flavor but the amount of cheese is excessive. It was not salty which I appreciate. The chicken, bacon ranch was good and they were generous with the mayo. I did like the seasoning on the chicken. asparagus had a little too much grill. I thought the Cuban was bland and there was way too much bread for the amount of meat. The potato croquettes were ok but I wasn't in love with the cheese in them. My husband would disagree because he wanted me to come to this restaurant just for the croquettes. 5 star atmosphere and decor. 4 star food. 2 star service. So I love the decor, the layout, the furniture the lighting and the nice big booths. Big win here. Our first service problem came at the bar. We got in almost 30 min ahead of our reservation and our dinner guests. Great time to start with a cocktail at the bar. Take a seat and given menus. Have a brief conversation several minutes later with bartender about the different mules. Then we sit....the regular bartender goes somewhere. Some other guys is bar tending now...the manager? Some lady asks if he needs help and he says yes...they go about making their drinks and while we are sitting feet from them they don't make eye contact, notice our drink menus are still sitting there and we have no drinks. 10 mins later we decide to go sit at our table early...maybe they'll get us drinks? Our friends arrive and the waitress says she is being shadowed by a trainee. No problem for us. So drink order is taken. Someone else from bar brings drinks. One waitress brings 3 waters. Ask for a 4th water by the next waitress. Seriously delivery issues and lack of communication between people taking care of our table. Ask about the Yelp check in app. One of the two items is not on the menu anymore. Ok we'll take the other. Potato croquettes were ok. Good quantity and came hot. From this point one of the waitresses takes our dinner order and we now don't see either of our waitresses again. Another lady from the kitchen delivers our food. I'm wondering if she's a food runner. I see our other two waitresses taking care of one other table and then bussing that table. They never come back to our table. There are like only 4 tables in the whole place eating. After the lady drops off our food we never see a waitress again. No water refills. No can I get you another beverage. We are wondering who and where our waitress is. The food runner comes to start clearing plates and we request boxes. She comes back with boxes and our checks! No asking about dessert...which we wanted to take a look at the menu, but never had a chance to even ask nor did she ask us before delivering the check. We ask for dessert menus and order a couple desserts. Bills are redone. We ask who our waitress is? The girl says she does what she's told and the other two, one of which is some sort of manager, told her to cover our tables apparently. This food runner girl was running non stop trying to get food out to three tables, two dishes per trip. Finally get our bills and the Yelp free check-in appetizer is on our friends bill. Show her the app like I had showed our waitress when we ordered it. Now she has to redo the bill again. Seriously, what a ridiculous experience.
