21 and up only restaurant and craft cocktails! Locals of Adel called and invited us out to try this new restaurant. They had a sitter for the weekend. They were really excited of the idea of this place that had just opened on the town square. You can get dressed up and make a reservation or you can wing it like we did. We walked in, fingers crossed on an early Saturday evening. We had five in our group. The hostess stands at a repurposed single record player. She asked if we had a reservation and made it work when we told her we did not. She asked if we preferred the bar or table and we said whatever was available. She grabbed some help and they threw a table together for us. Kudos for getting us in. The decor is dark with this lovely warmth to it. The red and white brick on the walls was exposed in the renovation contrasting the black walls and ceiling. No noisy televisions. All the staff are dressed dressed as if it was an upscale restaurant. The bartenders were classy and busy shaking up the drinks. You don't have to dress up to get in, but you definitely could and no one bats an eye either way. The waiter quickly came and brought waters for the table, but also took drink orders. Everyone ordered a different drink off the drink menu. Mocktails, beers, cocktails, wine. It's all available. He came back with drinks and reviewed the nightly appetizer specials with us. We were all excited we got a big mix of things to try across the table. Drinks: Our friend who ordered the Old old fashion. He said it was one of the top 3 best he has ever had. My girl friend ordered the Mulberry Lane and really enjoyed it. I tried the Cosmic Cotton Candy and loved the tart flavorful drink. Food. 10 out of 10. Nothing disappointed! We were blown away! Appetizer special that night of Brussels sprouts. Big shareable helping. Fantastic flavor with a great glaze. The tenderness of the sprout made them so easy to devour. I loved the little bit of crunch they had on the outside. Appetizer Fajita Egg Rolls! Grilled chicken. "I've never had chicken eggs rolls" my friend kept saying over and over. "They are nothing to bawk at." I say. Flavored with bell peppers, again spices and topped with a delectable pineapple salsa. The presentation of the plate was very pretty and we had no problem devouring them as well. Appetizer Poutine Americana: We got all the appetizers to come out with the regular meals and I think our friend went feral as he guarded his plate to try and keep these for himself. Buffalo fries smothered in gravy. Topped with braised bison, and their beer battered cheese curds. He finally let me try a little, and wow no wonder he was trying to fight off his wife from the plate. The Native was the burger platter ordered by my husband. Now don't take this lightly. It is a mouth watering 1/3 lbs buffalo. My husband tried to trick me and tell me that I wouldn't enjoy it, but once I got my half I didn't put it down. The spices they used with the flavor of the buffalo meat was a burger wet dream. He upgraded and got the cheese curds with his burger and the whole table was just head over heels for these cheese curds. They are like curds we have never had anywhere! Yes they are beer battered. When the menu says they are puffy, they are not lying! It was so light and fluffy and we just loved every little nibble. We are so glad we ordered the way that we did. Trying so many different things all in one sitting. Everyone was blown away. So much so I am ready to make the trip back out from Des Moines just to steal my girlfriend for the night so we can try more! I cant believe how excited we were over this food. We finally filled up and calmed down by watching the bartenders work their magic on drinks. Constantly moving back and forth, filling orders. I am so excited for Adel to have this place. It's got class, but wont turn you away. It's got the cool dark atmosphere so you can have a quiet dinner with friends and build up those relationships. The staff was great, and everyone had a great time. I highly recommend you get in there. If not just for a drink, but a meal too.

    Strawberry rhubarb pie

Have not completed a yelp review in years...but breaking the silence for Great White Buffalo. Decided to try for our anniversary. What a treat. The filet was delicious. Loved the strawberry rhubarb pie. Our cocktail journey included the Manhattan, A Rare Breed, The Topaz, The Espresso Martini and the Goldfinch. Would highly recommend each of these. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and visiting with the bartenders. Service was great. Ambiance reminds me of Berry and Rye in Omaha, but better. Ambiance alone is worth the trip for a drink.

I loved the ornate water glasses!

This is a great newer 21+ place on the square in Adel. We decided to go there for my birthday. We were immediately greeted by the owner's wife & were seated upstairs. The ambiance reminded me somewhat of a 1800's saloon: brick walls, beautiful chandeliers, a long bar on the main level, ornate woodwork, etc. Our server was great and attentive. Our food was amazing! The presentation was very nice. I had fajita egg rolls as an appetizer and Grilled Et Tu (a grilled Romaine salad with bacon, blue cheese, Caesar dressing and I added grilled chicken). My husband had the Native burger with Bier Cheese Spaetzle. (It tasted like a cross between macaroni and cheese and gnocchi). It was rich and flavorful. I enjoyed the Amethyst mocktail. It was light and fresh. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back!

Great service by Ethan, I think. Food was very good but a little pricey. It is a cool location but a bit on the small side.

Incredible flavors, theming - this is art and storytelling through cocktail. The ice cream on the cake was the sample ice cream flavors we got to sample. I'm not exaggerating to say this was also some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted. I'm legitimately and justifiably upset that I can't buy it anyway to have it again. The atmosphere is fun too, but the cocktails and the obvious time and passion that go into them are the draw. This is not a place where the theming outshines the drinks, I'd be blown away by these offerings even in a brightly-lit Chuck-e-Cheese. I will be back every single time I'm in Des Moines, and I hope it's packed with a waiting list because this kind of artistry deserves to be shared with everyone.

Interestingly, our server didn't ask for us to pick sides, but I got onion rings (very good), and my friend got fries (also, very good). The Italian Beef was very good, with hot Giardiniera that was great and tender meat. There are indoor tables and a bar and outdoor seating as well. Our server was excellent too.

Fortunately, they came through and put the game on several screens for us to watch during our visit. We started with an order of Onion Rings (see picture) - and they were the best onion rings I've had in many years. They were uniformly battered, uniformly fried to nice, crispy light brown color, and most importantly - a slightly crunchy onion inside that bit off cleanly so that you could dip it again! The picture itself does pretty good justice on their quality - and the dipping sauce was quite tasty also! For dinner, my wife ordered the Low Carb Beef Bowl w/ Pepperjack cheese & Rice (see picture) and I went with the Classic Wings split between Lemon Pepper Dry Rub and Mango Habanero sauce (see picture). We both really enjoyed the Low Carb Beef Bowl, finding it just as tasty as the name implies (all of the peppery zing of an Italian Beef with a melted cheese top - with rice replacing the bun). I was admittedly a bit disappointed with the wings, especially given the award-winning claims in the menu. My first impression and comment to my wife was that they were quite small in size. Secondly, while they tasted reasonably moist and tender, as the picture shows - they appeared to be dried out / overcooked...with meat pulling away from the bone. The Mango Habanero wings had very little spice given their name and very little sauce, with some barely wet and essentially none in the serving tray to use to add. While the wings would give me pause before ordering again, we REALLY liked the onion rings and everything else that we've ordered has been above average. The other thing I enjoy is their reasonable selection of craft beers (really liked the Chicago local Cold Time) as well as the unique cocktails. This is a solid stop.

We loved the look and feel as we walked up to the building and felt that the overall experience was well above average. Our only 'beef' was that most of the unique beers listed on their table menus were not available - tap options were limited to a few domestic beers, which was disappointing for restaurant with "Tap" in its name. The perfect evening on the patio and quality of the food offset this disappointment though. For our dinners, I ordered the Smachos (see picture) and asked to have them delivered as an appetizer - as I wasn't that hungry. My wife and one of our neighbors each ordered Tenderloins (see pictures). All of the food was delicious and highly recommended. We especially enjoyed the Smachos, which had pieces of their smash burger included in the toppings and were fantastic for sharing. While it is a bit off the beaten path for those of you living in Des Moines, it is only about 10 minutes to the West on a divided highway. We found the peaceful charm of the shaded patio next to the brick street out front contributed to a nice dinner with our friends and enjoyed the stop.
