Thanks to Dr. Green, I was able to have another year with my girl. Also, when Sunshine got sick, Dr. Green took my girl to Dr. Green's own home to keep an eye on her overnight. She has gone above and beyond to help my Sunshine just as she has with all my other babies. I cant thank her and her wonderful office staff enough. Before I start, another vet (also on Treasure Island) was SO nice and moved heaven and earth to help me and me dog! So no excuses from this one.... Also, Medicine River Animal Hospital was *recommended* to me. Let's be clear on that. This was not a cold call. My dogs and I lost our home on Fort Myers Beach last week. My small dog was being treated for an ulcer on his eye and since my vet is closed and I lost my home, they wanted me to try to get Mike seen ASAP (since I wasn't able to go to his follow up appointment on Monday October 3). I called and explained my situation and said my vet down there would email his records up ASAP. The receptionist said, "I'm sorry, we're not taking any new clients." I again explained to her that I am a disaster victim, I am desperate, and my dogs are really all I have left. She said NO. A vet that doesn't act like a caring clinic during a state crisis is NOT a vet anyone should go to, ever. I have seen the best and the WORST from businesses during this time. A hugely successful practice. Very busy, so don't bother, they don't need your business. I've been going there for over 2 years with my 3 cats. My 16 year old cat isn't doing well. I called there to ask if they could put her to sleep for me. They said, no, they were too busy and double booked for the next week. If I wanted an appointment, that's how long it would be before they could get me in. What vet and their staff would let an animal suffer for 10 days? Like some of the other recent reviews, I have to say that the latest experiences I have had with the office have been terrible. The staff seems overwhelmed and so busy that they cannot take the time to support the clients properly. I have been a long time client of Dr Green's and really like her care; she's a wonderful, caring vet. But I have left 2 messages to schedule a visit and got no call back. In addition, the desk staff was very rude when I requested that they tell clients there is no waiting inside. I'm a snowbird and not here all year so I did not know that. Worse not getting a call back for a pet in distress is sad. Time to switch to another vet, which after so many years here is sad. read more

Vet Care with a Heart! Dr. Greene and her staff are wonderful. My dogs have been seen by her for years. She is very compassionate. Her and her staff are very thorough and provide high quality care. When my beloved dog, Smokey, was old and very ill it was so hard to say good bye. Dr. Greene made him comfortable and stood by my side. It was a very difficult time for me but she stayed with me until I was ready to walk away. Afterwards, she sent me a beautiful card with his paw prints on it. It was so touching! Dr Shawna Greene, Gay, Jill, Nicki and entire staff have been great with both our cat and dog all these years with annual check-ups and shots. We have needed more expertise as our dog's heart murmur worsened while we were on vacation in 2016-he was at our boarding place locally and Nicki made sure to get the vet in on the matter, which made a big difference. Recently, our 11ish yr old cat was out of sorts, turns out it was a huge bladder stone. They helped us through the diagnosis, surgery and now healing to keep our feisty cat healthy. Choose another vet! Our 7 month old golden went in for a well visit last week and caught whooping cough - then gave it to our Berner and older golden. When we called this morning to see what they would do to help us with this, since it was their fault for failing to properly clean their exam rooms, we were treated rudely by her staff and not given ANY options to have our pets treated right away. We were told the vet was totally booked up. I don't usually take to internet reviews, but I personally reached out to Dr. Green via email this morning to give her a chance to remedy the situation in a professional manner and she didn't bother to assist us. We called Tyrone Veterinary Hospital and they immediately got our older pets in - within an hour of the call. Our 7 month old had to be seen by a vet in Indiana because Dr. Greene would not give him medications even though she had seen him for a well visit less than a week ago and he caught this illness at her office. Whooping cough is so highly contagious that the Indiana vet - who got our pup in for a visit before noon - came out to the car to do the examination. Now, we are out over $400 in vet expenses and not even a call back from the vet. We're hoping all our pets are okay. If you love your pets, I would suggest you take them somewhere else! I'm still waiting on Dr. Greene to call me back! read more

I understand we are all stressed by CovID19, and I understand waiting outside in the car, but what are appointment times for? Perhaps they have changed, but when I took my cat there a couple of years ago she was dying. They pumped fluids into her (I think) and said if she wasn't feeling better in the morning to bring her back in. Now, mind you, when I came home from work she was lying on the floor and there was frothy vomit all over the house (all explained when I took her in). It was so obvious to me that she was not going to "be better" the next morning so I called Oakhurst Vet that night and they said to bring her in at 7:00a when they opened the next day - which I did. It took a week of IV's every single day to get her life saved - and it was discovered that she had become diabetic (had to start her on insulin) and her kidneys were failing her. I know this review is somewhat late, but another friend took her dog there recently and well..., she isn't going there anymore. Just be very, very mindful of what is going on with your animal companion. I didn't have to be a vet to know that my girl wasn't going to be well by the next morning. Glad I left there.... PS: If you have a cat - please research wet food vs dry food. I wish someone would have told me how absolutely horrible dry food was for my little girl - it was the cause of her illnesses... read more

I have been using Dr. Greene for the last 13 years. During this time, I had a Cocker Spaniel, Bailey, who had heart issues. We saw Dr. Greene after a Seminole Vet told us to put him down. He lived another 4 years under the care of Dr. Greene. The compassion her office showed my Bailey, my family and me during and after his life is something that I will never forget. A few years later, we adopted Roscoe and a year or two later Daisy. I am very protective of my babies as are most pet owners and when she heard a possible heart murmur with Daisy her concern for me and Daisy was genuine because she knew my history with Bailey. I do not usually write reviews but today, New Years Day, I left her a message, assuming they would call me on Monday because Daisy contracted kennel cough. After returning from an out of state trip, I immediately knew something was wrong. I do not kennel them but our dog sitter fell ill the night before and I was left with no choice as we were headed out of state during Christmas. I do not blame anyone as these things happen and the place she stayed was great with both of them. Dr. Greene's staff called me today, prepared some meds for both Roscoe and Daisy and I was able to pick them up and they were able to start their meds tonight. Dr. Greene has very little turnover and as a result my babies know her and her staff. I have always recommended Dr, Greene to everyone I know who is looking for a compassionate and fair vet and will continue to do so. We had taken our cat there twice last year. When the cat had an emergency and had trouble breathing, they told us to take him somewhere else. We asked if we could drop off the results from the after hour animal hospital where he was the night before in case they could prescribe a medication they offered us 10 months earlier for high TT4 - Thyroid number, they said to go to a internal medicine vet. The steroid prescribed the night before helped the breathing, but not enough to keep the cat from struggling to breathe. Save yourself heartache and find a vet you can count on when your pet has an emergency. We ended up back at the after hour place from the night before and eventually had to euthanize the cat. When your pet is struggling to stay alive and the vet is too busy to help, it makes you wonder why they ever became a vet. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Green now since the late 90s. She and her staff are so compassionate and knowledgeable. She combines eastern and western medicine to give the best possible outcome for your pet. Unfortunately she had to put one of my dogs to sleep and she was so compassionate to my sweet boy and me and made such a horrible situation tolerable. Then she was so kind to send a beautiful plant that I still have 3 years later. My dog was having issues late yesterday afternoon which was Saturday and it appeared like a rear end paralysis and I called Dr. Green on her cell phone. She was kind enough to meet me at her office at 6 to look at my baby. She's better today thank God and Dr. Green was so sweet to text me to see how she's doing and make further recommendations. We have been taking our dogs to Dr. Greene for years. Recently, after retiring, we asked if Dr. Greene would write a prescription for our dog's chronic dental problem, so we could purchase the antibiotics at a much reduced price at Walmart. I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Greene and all of the staff at Medicine River. My husband and I recently relocated out of state and I'm so very sad to have to look for a replacement vet in our new city. Minor infections, broken bones, surgery, dentals, acupuncture, you name it- Medicine River has helped us through it all. We've had 5 dachshunds as patients at Medicine River. We followed them through 3 offices over a decade. Even though we lived in Clearwater, we still brought all of our babies to Madeira Beach for their appointments because we loved this office so much. Dr. Greene always takes her time with each patient and owner to explain and discuss the situation at hand. Every staff member is so caring and gentle with the animals. They call you after the appointment to check up on your pets and ALWAYS follow through with anything discussed. If you want the best care for your pets in Pinellas County, this is your place. Took my dog in for an x ray and was given option of single for $80 or multiple for a couple hundred. I agreed on the single x ray of the shoulder that was bothering him. When I showed up for the x Ray's they took him in the back and did multiple and tried to charge me several hundred dollars. When I argued I only ordered the single x ray they consulted the individual i spoke to and charged me the $80 and i paid in full at that time. When I called to say something is making him sick they said they cant see if for several days and informed me that I owed a balance for unpaid x Ray's. When I said that was bullshit and tried to explain the receptionist said I swore and hung up the phone and refused to answer again so I left a message for the owner to contact me. Read other reviews and you'll see they are very rude and obviously will try to RIP you off even though you paid in full at the time of service. DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!!! read more
