After one last hurrah from 2020 being the 3 headed monster that it is, my car decided to break down on the side of 165 in the middle of the night with not a soul around to help. I called Payne's and they promptly let me know they had someone on their way. The driver himself called me about 5 minutes after and provided ETA updates along his route. They were a complete blessing in a crappy situation and I would use them again for any towing services when in the area. read more

I am 9 months pregnant and was stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire. I waited for over 3 hours and no one showed up. Everytime I would get an ETA no one still ever showed up and then get a new ETA with still no help arriving. I will never call them again or suggest them to anyone. read more

Had to call in roadside assistance on Jan 11 2018. My insurance company called Payne's towing. ETA was 8:37am. Tried to call Payne's at 9....no answer. Had insurance cal them at 9:10 they told me 15 minutes away. Ok 9:45 called Payne's. No answer. Called insurance again....now Payne's is saying they are 4 miles away!!! LOL. 10:00 nothing. Called Payne's...:no answer... 5 minutes later Payne's called me back. Said they are having trouble with their new tow truck. WOW why keep lying then? Not even call me to let me know while I'm waiting??? He said I'll send someone out and we will pick it up now. I went to work... I'm home at 3pm!! Guess what!!?? Car still here!!!!!! I called Payne's.... he said they already picked it up, I said no they didn't. He said he would call his driver and that he "was tired of us anyway". REALLY?? I called insurance back to cancel that tow service and request new. FINALLY GOT Priced Right!! Always have used them and never late and always friendly Thank You priced right. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. THEY WILL CUSS YOU OUT ON THE PHONE AND HANG UP ON YOU!! I was in a car accident. So it was already a rough night. He told me that he would take my totaled car in payment for the tow fees. Then told me to come back the next day and he would have a car that he could sell to me cheap. Had to find a ride to get back out here and he told me he gave the car to someone else. Now I'm being told I'm responsible for the cars taxes and fees even through I turned the car over to him. Now sitting here when he told me to be here and gates are locked no ones here! He is the worst business owner. You would be better off leaving your car on the side of the road. read more

While driving south on I-65 to reunite with family over the Christmas holidays, I got stuck in a traffic jam and my 1990 Cadillac broke down. My insurance company's auto club contacted Payne's A-1 Towing. They were extremely busy but Patrick felt bad for me. It was almost 5 pm -- too late in the afternoon to find a mechanic willing to look at my car at that moment. So Patrick looked under the hood and immediately (and correctly) diagnosed the problem -- my alternator had frozen up, snapping a belt. He not only recommended a good hotel, he towed me there and stopped at an auto parts store along the way to pick up a rebuilt alternator and a new belt so that I could hit the ground running the next day. The following morning Patrick arrived at my hotel a little late, but given everything else he'd done for me I was not about to complain. Even though I'd started calling around at 8 am, I hadn't been able to find a mechanic who had time to replace the alternator that day. Patrick called in a favor and found me a guy who would do the job for $50 -- roughly a third of what other mechanics quoted me, and that doesn't include what it would have cost me to stay in a hotel another night. Then he towed me over to the guy's private garage and stuck around until he arrived. I was back on the road before lunch. All in all, A-1 probably spent two hours over two days towing my car around to various places for the one flat fee that the auto club pays them. Patrick spent another hour looking at the engine, figuring out the problem, and calling around to find the right replacement parts -- not a simple task for a 27-year-old vehicle. Then he towed me to a decent hotel, stopping at the parts store along the way to let me order and pay for the alternator so that it would be ready to pick up first thing in the morning. When I couldn't find a garage that would look at my car and get me back on the road in time to make it to my destination before Christmas -- which was the whole point of the drive -- Patrick located a mechanic I could never have found on my own. I can't thank Payne's A-1 Towing enough. They went waaayyyy above and beyond the call of duty and probably saved me several hundred dollars. read more

My insurance company called Paynes out to change the tire on my Travel Trailer. Guy that showed up with jack from Kmart with no lever to jack it up with. Then proceeded to use the wrong socket to get the lug nuts off and rounded off 1 of them. At that point he said they will come back in the morning and complete the job as he did not have the correct tools on his truck. I was good with that as we were in a parking lot and could use the rest. I just asked that they be there by 6am the next morning to get it completed he said no problem. So I give them a call at 6:50am and ask when they are showing up. I get this response "you need to call your insurance company and tell them we do not do that" and that was it they were done. Never ever use these people. My daughter's car wouldn't start.She called them and I met up with her. It was 11:30pm when she called these people. The guy said 30 mins, after 30 minutes she called again. The guy said he was 10 mins away. By 12:20am she called the guy again and he said it would be another 45mins. By 1:10am I called another towing company and had the car picked up by 1:30pm.These people were going to leave a 17 year old girl stranded. They shouldn't be in business. They are worthless. We called the insurance for a tow & within 10 minutes we got a call from Chris "Sarge" letting us know exactly how far he was. Really exceptional service & great COVID-19 precautions too. My car broke down in the early morning hours I call roadside assistance tow came n the form of a reg tow truck which should have been a rollback. Owners son dropped my truck two days later realized drive shaft had not been put back when he finally came to finish job left out a bolt from the u joint my vehicle then when driving was once again on the roadside where the drive shaft broke off at unjoint and now I've been told to take them to court I don't have time for stupid people and Payne's towing especially Patrick Payne who is the one who tore up my truck. Don't ever call this company u less u do want your vehicle dismembered. read more

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. After hitting a tire on I65 our insurance company called this company and sent us a text around 11:15am to say the tow truck should be with us within an hour. After calling the Payne's A1 towing around 12:20pm I was told that the truck was 20 minutes out. I called them again around 40 minutes later to see where it was & I was told that the truck had ran out of gas & would be there soon. Around 45 minutes later I called their dispatch again & was told to call the driver, who I had called first at 12:20pm and received no answer. This time he did answer but he told me he had a slow flat tire that he was having to get repaired. At 2:05pm a different truck from the same company finally showed up. It was one of the hottest days of the year & if we had been on the side of the road for 3 hours rather than at the gas station I don't know what we would have done. read more
