The cost was not in line with what we had in mind, so I thanked him for the information and quick trip to her home. As we were finishing the conversation, Adam said that he left a bill with my mom for $20. I asked why and he said it is a standard visit fee. I then asked why he did not let me know about the fee when we spoke earlier and he should let potential clients know about Consultation fees. He then said it was not exactly a consultation fee, it was for his gas. He also said he does not like to work with people that trip over pennies. I let him know that I had 2 other quotes from reputable businesses with 15 + years in service and they did not charge anything upfront. And that I would be happy to pay someone more for the same job before using his company. It wasn't about the money; it was about the principal. He continued to talk over me about his business reviews and 7 years of good reputation. I reminded him a Good Business Practice is to let people know about fees before just dropping off a bill. I ended the conversation by explaining that we would not be using his services. I called my mother to let her know that Mr. Parker would not be doing any work at her home, but to send him the $20 because if he needs gas that badly, then we need to help. She then told me about her experience with Mr. Parker. She said he talked down to her like she was stupid and he was disrespectful. He even used numerous curse words while discussing the drain and details. He acted very cocky and talked all about his 7 years in business and great reviews. My mother even said that she held her tongue, but wanted to ask if he talked like that to his Grandmother. Completely Unprofessional! Please be aware you will be charged a Trip / Gas Fee for a quote and not be told about it. And the conversation may not be of professional quality.
