Churrería El Moro has been around since 1935 making churros and they do it exceedingly well. This…read morelocation is located by the city center and after sight seeing, my husband and I decided to stop by here for churros. Luckily when we came last Sunday, around 2 pm, there was no wait for a table. An employee saw us and told us to sit anywhere. As soon as sat down, another employee brought us menus. We ended up getting: Grande Lechero, $54 MXN ($3.13 USD)- Large size coffee with milk. When our server brought over my husband's drink, she made a grand show of pouring the milk up high into my husband's coffee. I just wished I had gotten a video of it but it was definitely very fun to watch. My husband said his coffee was good (I didn't have any because I am not much of a coffee drinker). Combo 1 with Grande chocolate drink, $155 MXN ($8.98 USD)- So this combination comes with 4 large pieces of churros, 1 dip of your choice and also a chocolate drink. I ended up choosing a Mexican hot chocolate, which is made with cinnamon and sugar. Surprisingly the drink wasn't overly sweet. And really was perfect to dip my churro into the hot chocolate. For the dip, I picked cajeta, which is caramel made with goats milk. The cajeta was excellent with the churro. I don't know if this was the best churro that I have ever had, but it is definitely one of the top ones I have ever had. My husband also enjoyed the churros and the cajeta (he also liked my hot chocolate too). --------------------------- (Total= $209 MXN or $12.11 USD prior to tip) Wait time for our items was pretty quick. We waited less than 10 minutes for everything. Also credit card is accepted so my husband paid (We have the Costco Visa credit card which does not have a foreign transaction fee, which we used exclusively when we were not paying cash). Our server brought a card reader machine to our table when we were ready to pay (for those of you unaware, in Mexico, you will not be brought your check until you ask for it because it is considered rude to give it to you beforehand, assuming that you are being rushed). Overall, we had a really great experience at this location and highly recommend checking out any of the Churrería El Moro locations the next time you visit Mexico City.

Came here late around 9 it was packed and had a short line out the door. The line for take out was…read moreeven shorter so we opted for take out since our hotel was right around the corner. Got an order of 4 churros with caramel (cajeta) and guava (Guayaba) dipping sauces, they were out of chocolate. You can have them tossed in regular sugar or cinnamon sugar which is traditional. The churros were warm and crispy on the outside and soft inside but had a slight burnt flavor. Both dipping sauces were good but in a different way. It's like donuts topped with caramel or guava, one is more fruity and the other more sweet. Just depends what you're in the mood for or what you prefer. I also got the frances hot chocolate which is their hot chocolate with vanilla. It was better than what I had earlier at another place. Overall the churros were good but not the best i've had.

So many pastries and breads to choose from! We of course had to try the famous guava roll which is croissant-like that also had cheese custard. The cute little pig like cookie was cute. We didn't dine in since it was hard to find seats for our group, so we just stop by to grab to-go. If you want some their popular items, make sure to come during the day time since it will run out. We came here a few times to try different baked goods: - Guava roll (5/5) - Butter croissant and honey croissant (4/5) - Tres leches cake (5/5) - Concha (3/5) - Mil hojas de frutos rojos/mixed berries napoleon (4/5)   The most popular item was their guava roll and it lived up to its expectations. The guava jam was sweet but not too overwhelming. The roll itself had a similar taste to a croissant. It was soft and flaky. They nailed the texture. We ordered a slice of the tres leches and napoleon. Tres leches was moist and the napoleon also was delish. Everything was well priced and a decent size for the price. The concha was also good, not too dry. They have an outdoor patio with shades. The menu also offer a variety of coffee drinks although we didn't try it this time. Overall, a great stop for a sweet treat.

I came in here twice for breakfast because the hostel's free breakfast consisted of all carbs and no protein :( I'm a bodybuilder...I need my protein!!! For 36 pesos (approx $3), you can order a 2 egg omelet with choice of 1 mix in (i always got the spinach) or you can add more for additional charge. It also comes with a piece of toast. The omelet already comes topped with tomato slices and avocados too! Seriously, you can't beat this perfect protein-filled breakfast at this great price! There's just one lady that works here and makes all the food, so please be patient with her. She has to cook and prepare all orders in this tiny little kitchen behind the counter. They offer a variety of other items such as drinks, desserts and sandwiches too. Their coffee isn't bad either, they grind the beans and brew each coffee to order. Wonderful place, a real hidden gem. NOTE: they close on Sundays!

The patio was covered with so many greenery and provided a lot of shades. We ordered a few items to share: - Toasted bread, chicken liver, and black truffle: a good appetizer to start off with. The chicken pate was good, a bit different from what I'm used to. - Pappardelle with pork ragu: this was super good. Love the pasta texture on this. Pork ragu sauce was also perfect. - Robalo ceviche, watermelon, Serrano pepper: a refreshing ceviche to balance out the meal. the watermelon added a bit of sweetness. - Pizza capocollo, radicchio, straquinella cheese: a good size pizza to share. I like thin crust. - Arugula, roasted tomatoes, Parmesan salad: fresh arugula that went perfectly with the roasted tomatoes. Every meal needs a good salad. - Ricotta stuffed zucchini blossoms: this was my favorite dish we tried. Such a unique combo of flavors. The ricotta cheese just melted when you bite into the zuchinni blossoms. It also had a light crispy texture. - Hummus and pita bread: another good choice for appetizer. The hummus was solid. The service was excellent. Everyone was attentive and our food didn't take long to come out. Would highly recommend to add this place to your list. This is also a great area to check out, plenty of things to do in La Condesa.
