Although commercialized in appearance, El Moro is THE place to get churros when in CDMX. The lines out the door of tourists and locals do not lie. However, your experience could potentially be a miss because your overall satisfaction will rely heavily on how fresh and warm your churro is when it makes it to you. You could keep an eye on how long a pinwheel of yummy deep-fried goodness has been sitting behind the counter as they snip off pieces for each order. I saw people in front letting people behind them order first because they just KNEW. This location in Roma Norte was bustling post dinner and had quite a number of seats. We stood at the end of a long line and a worker was keen on finding us a table which happened to be situated outside, therefore, what we got was what we got. The outside was not ideal either because the white and blue of a playful geometric motif is quite the aesthetic and therefore incredibly picture-worthy. Outside, you are missing that element, but you will also suffer the onslaught of hustlers selling the most random things. They do not linger, though, and will kindly leave you alone with a firm "No Gracias". I get it though, ya gotta shoot your shot. I ordered 1 churro for 15 MXN and a cajeta dip for an additional 30 MXN. The churro was actually divine -- thin, but crunchy and LONG, slightly warm and flaky, and with a even coating of brown sugar-cinnamon. I wished I had ordered more... The cajeta, on the other hand, was a rather 'meh' dipping choice though. For double the price of a single churro, it was not worth since it was actually a little hard and therefore not dip worthy to begin with. Upon 2nd inspection, I probably should have ordered Chocolate de Cacao as a dip and sip option which many patrons were doing. Honestly, El Moro has quite the grip on the churro-making business, because there are just no others out there to compete. They are pretty much the only place you can get FRESH and HOT churros -- know this!

The chocolate sauce came in a prepackaged container and wasn't warm or fresh, and both the hot and cold chocolates were just okay. Both not something I'd order again. The ice cream sandwich also had only a very small amount of churro in it, which felt disappointing. The biggest downside was the service. We waited a long time to place our order and an even longer time to pay, and the staff seemed annoyed when we asked for simple things like the check. Overall, great churros, but the experience and everything else around them didn't live up to the hype.
I saw El Moro on Somebody Feed Phil and knew I had to go. I was, however, pretty disappointed. The churros were pretty hard - they definitely were not super fresh. The staff were not overly friendly, either. The chocolate de cacao we received was not as good as I was hoping for either. I think that maybe I should have gone with the dip? I'm not sure. Overall, the experience was just ehhhh. Perhaps I had too high of expectations, I don't know. There was a man singing though and that was nice (he definitely asked for money after, I just didn't have anything but large bills). The decor is really pretty, though.
We finally visited El Moro on our final night in CDMX. It was a really pleasant surprise to learn how affordable the churros are. I really appreciated that you can buy as little as a single churro for $15 Mexican pesos, or larger quantities, in packages of 4 or 12. We only wanted 2, but we certainly saw people with armfuls of them. The churros were crisp and warm and I liked the short, manageable length. We also ordered a single nutella dipping sauce. Were these perfectly good churros? Yes. Were they mind blowing churros? No. Also, I got the distinct impression that the woman serving us was not enjoying her day. In making change, she gave me the most number, and smallest, denomination coins possible so I literally had a handful of nearly useless change. I asked for napkins and she told me that there were none. I eventually took some by the coffee bar and she acted shocked that there were more napkins. My whole experience was marred by this woman's rudeness.
I really wanted churros and this wasn't too far from where I got dinner. There was a long line outside but it moved at a good pace. I got 4 churros with the sweetened condensed milk dipping sauce and it was incredible! There are some tables inside that were all full but I was able to get a table outside.
El Moro is a staple of CDMX for churros so I had to make a stop. Service was friendly and helpful, and they spoke English. I've been to the location in California so I wanted to compare the churros and hot chocolate at their OG location. They are just as good, with a fraction of the cost.
Oh man. How can someone come to Mexico City and not come to El Moro! Some of the best churros I've ever had! How can it not be since they've been around since 1935!! I would have to say this place is a city treasure if not a national one! The churros are over a meter long with choices of sauces to dip them into that enhances your experience! The place is open to the street and has a very welcoming feel. We sat inside only because of limited outdoor seating. The service was quick and friendly. If you are staying, they have go seat and come to your table vice ordering from the counter. They were attentive and quick! Definitely make El Moro part of your MC visit! How can someone ever regret eating churros!
While back in Mexico City a few weeks ago, my husband and I stopped at this location of El Moro (there are several locations in CDMX) for an afternoon snack/treat. El Moro dates back to 9935 when a Spanish immigrant to Mexico City started selling churros from a cart in the Zócalo. He later opened up his first shop before passing away in 1940. His brothers continued his legacy, and El Moro remains a family business today. El Moro sells churros, dips for the churros, churro ice cream sandwiches (consuelitos), hot chocolate, milkshakes, coffee, and more. Their churros are vegan, and you can order 1, 4, 12, or in combos with dips and drinks. This El Moro location is very similar to the one I visited a few years ago in Cuauhtémoc/Juárez: open air, tons of tile, very casual and comfortable. We had a few snacks and enjoyed them like we did a few years ago. If you're in the mood for churros, El Moro is a great option.
I'm not a big fan of churros so my review may be a little biased. Staff were very friendly and prepared your order, while you were still ordering. There are plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your sweet treat. To me the churros were too greasy, which took away from the flavor. Also it was just too much sugar as well. The chocolate sauce was delicious. I wouldn't return as I only tried them because I am here visiting Mexico City
Delicious fresh churros! You can have them served with chocolate, caramel or condensed milk and topped with cinnamon or sugar. We also enjoyed the iced coffee and chocolates. You can order sandwiches from the place next door. They have table service and plenty of seating which is quiet and easy to talk read more

After waiting in line for 20 minutes, I was served cold and stale churros. The hype did not live up to the expectations. The experience did not match the wait, and there are better spots to satisfy a churro craving. read more
Churros Churros. A must visit spot in Mexico City. They have locations all over. You have to get their hot chocolate and dip your churros in there. Their chocolate have super chocolate taste to it. Super rich and not too sweet. We opted in to order dipping sauce as well but I think you could stick to hot chocolate unless you like sweet sauces. Inside the store is super nice and they are deocrated white with blue tiles that have prints. They have inside and outside seating and you can see them make your churros. Service was great at the counter and you clean up after eating. read more

Sooooo good! Fast service, cutesy vibes, and the perfect place to end up after a great dinner. The mini ice cream churro sandwiches were the perfect serving size. I enjoyed every bite. read more
I really wanted churros and this wasn't too far from where I got dinner. There was a long line outside but it moved at a good pace. I got 4 churros with the sweetened condensed milk dipping sauce and it was incredible! There are some tables inside that were all full but I was able to get a table outside. read more

I'm not a big fan of churros so my review may be a little biased. Staff were very friendly and prepared your order, while you were still ordering. There are plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your sweet treat. To me the churros were too greasy, which took away from the flavor. Also it was just too much sugar as well. The churros here are amazing. They're seriously the best I've ever had and it came very quickly. It tasted good with condensed milk and chocolate dipping sauce. It can be loud but I don't mind. Even with the language barrier, the person helping us was extremely nice and patient. read more
Even though this is a popular chain in CDMX, many people including a local we met had hyped this place up, and for good reason! The churro's we had were nice and warm, perfectly crispy, and just the right amount of sweet. We got Combo 1, which came with 4 churros and a hot chocolate drink. These churros were really good, and I would recommend checking out Churreria El Moro if you're in CDMX. read more

Ordered: Paquete 1 (MX $118): 4 Churros + Chocolate Caliente Mexicano Dip de Cajeta (MX $25) Aya's take: Churros in Mexico are top tier! We stopped by El Moro for a little dessert and it did not disappoint. We decided to get Paquete 1 which is a Combo with 4 Churros & Hot Chocolate. They have a few options for their Chocolate Caliente and we went with Mexicano which is described as light, foamy, with a touch of cinnamon. It was super rich, dense, and creamy. I highly suggest sharing this with someone as it is deceivingly filling! The Churros were fresh, crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The sweetness is just the right amount and the Dip de Cajeta was honestly not needed. Cajeta is caramelized milk but I would suggest getting the Leche Condensada which is condensed milk instead. The caramel was a bit overpowering and got lost with all the flavors while the condensed milk would've given it more of that creaminess. They have plenty of locations throughout the city, definitely stop by if you're in CDMX! read more
Definitely one of my favorite places to eat when I visit Mexico City. The churros are very fresh and served to you immediately with great customer service. The churros are blanketed with the perfect amount of sugar and cinnamon and melt in your mouth. There can be a long line, but definitely worth it if you're craving something sweet and delicious. read more
We came during a busy hour around dinner time, but were able to order our food right away and receive it at the counter within a minute or so. There is seating both outdoors and indoors but it does get crowded, especially with the traffic going to and from the entrance. If you don't speak Spanish, the staff can assist you and make sure you also know how much you want to tip. The churros were huge! They were deliciously fried and had an airy texture to it, not too heavy. It was coated in cinnamon sugar which was nice with the cinnamon flavor of the Mexican hot chocolate. The churros were still warm too! I loved my experience here and the food was great. read more
I definitely think this place is worth the stop if you're visiting Mexico City. The churros were absolutely delicious and combined with the warm chocolate -- so good!!! This place was also very very busy on a Monday night so be aware you might have to sit on the benches outside and not get an actual table. read more
Beautiful inside, and it felt like i was in a art studio in the 1950s getting churros ! Quick service and delicious! I have a sweet tooth and the churros were perfect for my taste buds. This is not my normal churro spot but I def found another place of must visit to my list. I love the Coyoacán area, it's my favorite, and the churros here are to die for. I stopped by this churrería because of how open and aesthetic it is. Also, I was running low on pesos and this place takes credit cards. The churros are amazing, I always get plain ones with just sugar and cinnamon. I got a milkshake and I was in love! I love their seating area too! read more

In the Condesa neighborhood of CDMX, this small churro shop has been in existence since 1935. Churro addicted I love estabs like El Moro, they make one thing : churros. And WOW! No nonsense. No hype. No Insta (that may change). People have even coming here for decades. You fall in line, order your churros, pay and leave a tip at the counter. Fresh off the fryer with Mexican sugar and cinnamon. Nothing like it. Simple. Classic. Done. There's a line most times I came, especially at night when everyone's out for their evening paseo. Love End of Yelp. read more

On our first try, we accidentally ordered a hot chocolate instead of a churro with chocolate dipping sauce. On our second try, we got our churro with chocolate dipping sauce! It was crispy and tasty and I feel like it was only 10 or 20 pesos. A perfect sweet snack. And although a hot chocolate wasn't what we were aiming for, we poured it over ice and loved it. So much that we considered going back the next day for the accidental treat. The spot seems like a popular one for out of towners and maybe even locals. A lot of reviews mention a long wait and crazy lines, but I guess we went at the perfect time because the space was totally empty so luckily, no line, no wait, just churros! They have lots of tables both inside and out and a super cute store front. When in rome, you eat pasta. When in Mexico City, you just gotta try a churro! Glad we stopped by. read more

Found out that there was a el Moro and that this was the original store when I was wandering the Zocalo area and I knew I had to try this spot out! This is a cute store with fast service and my favorite: churros! When we got there around 1ish we were quickly seated and given a menu to order. My brother and I were super full from lunch but we opted to get churro with the caramel dipping sauce. Now let me tell you the churro was perfect - warm and crispy with a slight chew. The sauce was yummy but a little bit too sweet for our liking. Overall though - the perfect dessert to end our meal! I would highly recommend to check this place out! read more
