A few days later, I was contacted by Laura from Burnett and after an initial phone screening, she agreed I would be a good fit for the job I had applied to as well as another client of hers., and was able to set up interviews for both a few days after I would be arriving in town. I didn't have high hopes because I hadn't worked with a recruiter before, but working with them is the best decision I could have made. I had several other interviews I had set up for myself that week, but none fit as well as the one Laura had set me up for. For nearly 17 years, I've applied for positions through Burnett Specialists and communicated with…read moreseveral recruiters. I first began applying around 2009 while I was still in college. At that time, I understood when I was told I needed more experience or additional assessments before qualifying for certain positions. Instead of giving up, I took that feedback seriously. Over the years, I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees, gained experience in state government, higher education, secondary education, and several other professional roles. I continued building my résumé because I believed that eventually I would become the type of candidate they were looking for. Over the past four months, I've applied for numerous positions and reached out to multiple recruiters. Unfortunately, the outcome has remained the same. Whether it was a full-time position or even an internship in my degree field, I was consistently passed over. At first, I was frustrated because I felt I had done everything I was supposed to do to become a stronger candidate. My goal has never been to remain stagnant. I believe in appreciating where you are while continuing to grow professionally and create better opportunities for yourself and your family. Over time, however, my perspective changed. I realized that not every staffing agency is the right fit for every candidate, and that's okay. Sometimes an organization simply isn't the place where your career is meant to take off. If you've had a similar experience, don't view it as a loss. There are many excellent staffing agencies throughout Texas that may be a much better fit for your background and career goals. I've personally had better experiences with PrideStaff and MDR, and there are many other reputable agencies worth considering, including: * Robert Half * Express Employment Professionals * Clayton Services * Murray Resources * Frontline Source Group * AppleOne Employment Services * Snelling Staffing * CornerStone Staffing * The Liberty Group * Link Staffing * AmeriTech Staffing * KP Staffing Many of these agencies are Better Business Bureau accredited or have established reputations in Texas staffing and recruiting. I sincerely wish Burnett Specialists continued success. My experience simply wasn't the right fit, and I hope this review encourages other job seekers not to become discouraged. Sometimes the right opportunity is waiting with a different agency. Toodles.
