Cool concept, but the execution could use some improvement. This is one of those experiences where the idea is genuinely great, but the follow-through didn't quite hit the mark for us. We arrived late, around 9pm (mistake number one), and parking was extremely tough to find. After looping the area for a while, we finally snagged a spot a few blocks away. When we walked up, the line wrapped around the corner and stretched far back--and it moved slowly (mistake number two). There is a fast-pass option, which definitely seemed like the way to go if you don't want to wait forever. Once inside, I actually loved the concept of featuring local vendors--everything from small-batch alcohol and food to handmade clothing and earrings. The variety was impressive, and the atmosphere had potential. The bar area also offered cocktails, beer, etc., and wandering with a drink in hand was a nice touch. However, the crowding made it hard to enjoy. It was packed to the point where I couldn't really browse booths, and at times I had to skip ones entirely because there were simply too many people squeezed in. Outside, there were additional food vendors and a DJ tent, which offered a fun vibe and a place to eat or hang out. Bathrooms were available both upstairs and outside, which was helpful. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving early--not just because of the crowds, but because the air became smoky. We later realized someone had started a dumpster fire across the street, and the Portland Fire Department was putting it out. Overall, the night market is something worth trying at least once, but I'd recommend going right when it opens if you want a better chance at enjoying the vendors without the overwhelming crowds.

    Cute entrance with photo ops!

Fun, bustling, and expansive! We went to the holiday night market last night and there are so many talented vendors selling jewelry, food, ceramics, and so much more! You can go hungry because outside are plenty of food carts. There are many places to get a seasonal cocktail or beer too. I would recommend shopping here for your holiday gifts and support the amazing artists. We biked here which was so much easier than finding parking. We also went early to beat the lines. It gets busy!

Night market on the east side of Portland. Happens only for two nights very couple of months. We went the second night and wow, the turnout was crazy- The line was wrapped around the block. Parking was crazy too. We did a fast pass for about $13 and was able to get right in. Lots of vendors with all different merchandise to buy. Very creative and cool. They also have food carts outside and all delicious food and drinks. A couple of bars through out the venue. It's two stories but the top wasn't as filled as the main floor. Lots and lots of people.

I love events such as this. Getting out in the evenings, browsing some shops, eating some good food, and just enjoying the ambiance is always a must-do in my book. Been hearing about the PDX Night Market for a couple of years now, but this is the first time I was in town for it. And I must say, I had a great time. There is a lot to see and partake of here. They are in a cool converted industrial area, with stalls of assorted wares and sundries on offer from many awesome artisans. Everything from wood cuts, to candles, to stickers, to clothing. And out back is where the party was kicking off, with music and a dance floor, plus an excellent selection of food trucks and drink vendors. They even had Santa in attendance for the holiday season. My friend and I wound up with a few cocktails, including some spiked hot cocoa that hit the spot on a chilly winter's night, and some really yummy Thai savory coconut pancakes. The only real downsides were mostly related to the crowds. It is in a confined space, and the number of people can make it seem downright claustrophobic at times. Plus, you may need to go a fair ways away to find parking, so it's likely a good idea to consider taking public transit or some other means of conveyance. But that aside, I think this is a fantastic way to spend an evening, and think it should perhaps be a must-do for visitors to the Portland area.

Such a fun place, we went Friday this may. It was such an amazing experience. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. The outside had food and drinks with a DJ playing great music. Many vendors with all sorts of items. Art, jewelry, interactive photo shoots. All the above. The drinks were great with good prices. Would 100% recommend.

Overall the vibes are great here, the space is super cool, & it's a very lively event. So why 3 stars? Well..there are like 5 bars here, and not a single one selling mocktails. My only option to drink tonight was a can of soda. To me that's wild, especially from a market advertising to be friendly for all ages. Since when is THE thing, and the only thing to drink alcohol? I was not expecting this. Along the same lines is the issue I found with the food. Not impressed with the selections and the prices were absolutely wild. What we settled with we took two bites & the rest went in the trash. The whole building is unbelievably hot, even on a cool April night. I eventually began dripping sweat and was racing to the front door to leave this place. The crowds were insane and you can barely move. There are Disneyland style lines to the bathrooms. Lastly, the most annoying part of this evening was the balloon guy. The pretentious, "artist" and his crew were moving around the space ALL evening, putting up balloons & talking about their art with people. Not a problem inherently, until at one point (in said crowded building) I had one small spot to walk through and the balloon guy sticks out his entire arm to put his finger LITERALLY in my face to tell someone all about his art and show the QR code. This can happen, I get it, (but then you say, oops sorry, and move) but he just held his f-ing finger directly across my face for nearly a minute as I stood there like a deer in headlights waiting for him to finish his story so I could resume walking. I regret not going full Karen mode in that moment but I didn't have the energy tonight & this was clearly his castle & my peasant self doesn't stand a chance against a mega star such as himself.

I've been to Farmers Markets, but this was my first time going to a night market, and we had lots of fun. We got there around 9pm, and there was a long line to get in, but it moved pretty quickly. We got a cocktail right when we got in, then explored the food in the outdoor area. Got some food, petted an alpaca, and enjoyed the music. Then we went indoors to explore all the shops, and bought some stuff. We had a good time, and I would definitely come to one of these again.

The PDX Night Market is a cool place to find local makers and hang out with friends! It is a free event to attend, unless you'd like to pay for a fast pass that lets you skip the entry line. The length of this line ebbs and flows, when I went around 5pm we could walk straight in, so I'm not sure I'd buy the pass. I'm not sure if the pass comes with other perks. Parking in the area is very difficult. Inside the market is incredibly busy - the main floor gets crowded enough that moving through it is one-directional. Stopping at booths can feel claustrophobic and like you're blocking someone else, making you rush. Not exactly the experience I want with a new-to-me business. I do think some kind of ticketing could help with this. I think many people would be glad to pay $5 to reserve a 60-minute entry time and deal with less of a crowd. It would be even cooler if that entry cost went to charity, or sponsored a spot at the next market for a deserving business. There's a huge range of vendors and the vendors change each market! There are lots of cool businesses, ones who have brick and mortars elsewhere in Portland and ones that are online or pop-up only. It's cool to interact with small local businesses and even grocery store type brands. Clothes, jewelry, beauty, alcohol, snacks, butters, desserts, shoes, home goods, knick knacks, so much more. I wish there was a map or organization pattern to help me find specifics vendors or types of businesses. There are a couple of bars. The one closest to the entry tends to get busy and build up a line, but you don't have to wait - just go to another bar. The hot food is okay. No heavy hitters from the Portland restaurant scene, and the prices are pretty high, but I can imagine it's not easy to cook in this situation. You have to have a tent and portable cooktop and stuff. The tables to eat at fill up quickly, so my recommendation is to get some snacks/light bites/finger foods and plan on a full meal elsewhere. The highlight of the PDX Night Market for me are the decorations/themes. The organizers go all out in choosing a theme and creating decor to match. From the entry foyer, to an activity upstairs, to photo booth opportunities, to large displays outside. Super fun and creative. So, many pros and cons to this event. I recommend going at least once to see what it's all about! Then it's up to you whether you want to go back - maybe during their slow hours, or maybe only when a friend from out of town is visiting. I'll probably be back to enjoy their themes and do some holiday gift shopping!

The PDX Night Market has returned to its full, former glory, after suffering at the hands of COVID (like the rest of us). For a while there, it was pretty Spartan inside, in both booths and attendees. That's certainly not the case anymore! You'll be ducking and weaving through an endless throng of oncoming shoppers as you wind your way through this warehouse funhouse of locally made goods and foodstuffs, enduring wave after wave of bumps, nudges and elbows as you survey and sample everything from liquors, hot sauces, baked treats and more! Out back, a massive food courtyard entices you with a sizeable selection of cuisine options, from street-side standards such as Mediterranean and Mexican, Polish sausages, Vietnamese sandwiches and noodles; all the good things, plus a few dessert options as well. Your devouring and digesting is aided by the thundering, pumping, pulsing beats emanating from the massive stage nearby, covered in glitzy lights and seasonal décor, in front of which an impromptu dance stage breaks out at irregular intervals. Hold those drinks with both hands as you pass by! Although you wouldn't know it from my review thus far, but there's more than just food and drinks for sale here at the Night Market. You'll find everything from apparel, jewelry and accessories, to lotions and creams, household plants (hi Casey!), hand-crafted trinkets, artwork, candles, you name it...the vendors and their wares rotate with the seasons, likely due to some fierce competition for available table space. Grab a cocktail to sip while you shop, from the one of the three or four pop-up bars scattered throughout this ramshackle labyrinth, usually tucked away in the corners. There's also a not-so-obvious bar upstairs behind a narrow, rickety door that serves up a separate selection of drinks than the rest, many of them in slushie form, as well as a newly-added wine bar, movie theater, and ceramics studio (hi Liz!) in a recently renovated space above one of the main shopping galleries. City Liquidators is the sponsor of the event as well as the landlord of the building, although their presence is relatively understated, other than their seasonally-rotating mini-market off to the right of the docking bay doors leading to the exterior food court. They usually put together an entertaining little play space, showcasing some their goods in a playful manner consistent with the season and the theme of the market, depending on the time of year in which it appears (the Night Market recurs quarterly, for one weekend at a time). They also devote most of the upper level to various art installations, galleries, DIY craft tables (there's usually at least one "help yourself" craft project available here), and Instragrammable decorations and backdrops, for the selfie-obsessed narcissist in all of us. Oh, and did I mention...baby goats? Yeah, there's a baby goat petting zoo that has appeared for at least the last three or four iterations of the market; for $5 per person, you get 5 minutes of cuddle time with an adorable army of little spawns of Satan, bleating and baa-ing their way into your hearts, and devouring your soul! Totally worth it! Admission to the Night Market is free, but the line out front, which regularly wraps around the building, may seem intimidating at first. Thankfully, it moves at a pretty good clip; a "fast pass" is available for purchase online that bypasses the crowd, but it's not worth it, unless it's *really* backed up for some reason. The hold-up is usually due to people showing IDs to get a 21+ wristband for ordering drinks, but the gatekeepers at the door are reasonably efficient at slapping these on wrists and getting people inside. Now that things are back in full swing, the PDX Night Market is absolutely one of the best free, accessible, and family-friendly (well, maybe not *all* of the music they play, but...eh) events in the greater Portland area, and one that showcases and celebrates the community and craftsman ship that makes our city welcoming, diverse and...you guessed it: weird.

I had heard of this event from Instagram and it looked like a cool event that they do about every few months or so. I went to the one that happened this month and it's cool how it's a free event. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but it was like a big Saturday market with alcohol! This event is free though you can buy fast pass tickets online for $10 which allows you in before the general admission folks. I honestly recommend coming 15-30 minutes before the event starts and fall in line because it wasn't that busy when we went and got in within 2 minutes of the event opening. There are a lot of vendors throughout the space which is a huge industrial center. Outside were all the food vendors for meals such as Chinese food, boba, tacos, etc. Inside, some fun vendors included Portland Gear, Treats by Mel (cheesecakes), Wild Roots, mushroom jerky, and other local clothing and crafts. Overall, I recommend going if you are into the Saturday market and shopping local! I loved the decorations throughout too. This took me about an hour an a half to go through all the vendors and eat.

Ask the Community - PDX Night Market

Is it open during January?? I can't seem to tell if it's a "scheduled every other month thing "

It is mostly every other month, but in mid summer it's in June and July back to back. Here's a link to their yearly schedule! This year is a bit shorter though. https://www.pdxnm.com/

We drove up from Grants Pass just for this faire! We arrived around 10:30am and luckily enough found a decent parking spot fairly quickly. When we finally figured it out we discovered the wait was over 2 hours long! We did not get inside the Faire till around 12:45ish I believe. Of course we missed the opening ceremony. Being newbies we were not dressed up so we ended up buying outfits to wear from the vendors.... beautiful options but very expensive! Still, once we got dressed up and in the spirit we enjoyed ourselves tremendously!! Almost everyone was decked out in costumes, which was so much fun to witness!! Many people were decked out so elaborately and authentically, it looked as professional as a movie set!! Just incredible!! We were also VERY impressed with the quality of merchandise....the majority of vendors were selling beautiful high end or hand crafted items. I loved what I got! Although the prices were much higher than I've seen in recent times, still I guess you have to pay to play. The food lines were ridiculous! Very chintzy portions for waaaayyyy overpriced food. The only thing we got to eat was a very anemic almost empty looking gyro for the outrageous price of $14 each, the taste was decent....but after waiting an hour in line to get it? Not worth it. I would bring my own food next time. Luckily I did get a beer and the commemorative mug which was soooooo pretty! The beer line went super fast which was nice. Usually parking is a pain but the line has never been more than maybe 10 min wait. No ADA accessibility was a final straw for my disabled mother last year.. AND THEN this first Saturday was a joke and we all left highly disappointed. There weren't enough portas in the parking lot, so tp was out and tanks were full by 330ish. We missed most of the shows waiting for 2.5 hours to get in with one of the longest lines I've ever seen (don't forget having families stand in the road). Then we found out most of our favorite faire food was sold out. Waited in line for other food to be told they had very limited options. Proceeded to wait almost an hour for mead. Highly disappointed in the fact that Faire sold as many tickets as they did but continued to keep ONE entrance, ONE check in booth, and the same amount of space. Also seems like the food vendors were highly unprepared for the amount of people. Unless things change, I don't see us spending money for this Faire next year. Which is a huge shame. AND ON TOP OF IT ALL, people couldn't even be bothered to say HAZZAH.

We found parking with in 10 minutes and only had to walk 1/2 a mile to the festival. I know my fiance was a little sad they didn't have the coins for currency but the bracelets made it quick. As she explained the event to me I was worried we would be there 4-5 hours stuck in long lines. We were there at 12 pm Saturday and the most we waited for 10 minutes. Things were quick, effient and well ran. Let's talk about the food!!! OMG amazing!!! We tried everything pretty much but shared it amongst our self. We left so full and we took a few items home we couldn't finish. Admission was $5 then it was what ever you wanted to purchase food wise. So much fun!!

My favorite part was absolutely and by far the 'tour' we took. It was actually a beautiful lecture on Greek Orthodoxy by a devout priest with a thick accent and the charisma of ten men. I learned more about the differences between most americanized xtianity and what they practice in that beautiful place than I ever had before, and was blessed to do so in a beautiful setting on a beautiful day surrounded by joy and the smells and sounds of revelry. I am far and beyond not xtian, I practice something somewhat wider, but by my own rules I get to partake in all ideas of spirituality and many of the practices in many flavors with great exuberance. In this. Some days are more beautiful than others. This man, this priest, was truly moved by his beliefs, and I believe Greek priests to be some of the most educated practitioners of any dogma. He had such a beautiful grasp of the nature of his church, and a wonderful knack for communicating those ideas to any newcomer who might cross his path with interest. So unlike the many small clickish churches in the community I'm surrounded by. Instead of exclusionary, it is open-armed, ready to share without force what they believe with examples and proof as to the impact such beliefs can have in a life that needs it. It truly feels welcoming. If you have the chance to walk into one of their public events, do it. Even if it's just to learn some history of a colorful people and stare at the beautiful walls that will surround you. The upstairs presentation of beloved loaned items that represent a variety of subjects in the history of the culture was impressive, and the enthusiasm of those showing it off can't be matched. I was heartbroken we couldn't stay for the dancing. The venue is well organized and easy to navigate, and it's one of the few festivals I've been in Oregon where people were polite all around. Eat the food and you're completely winning! They are a community who love to feed you! Opa!

A sister festival to the Seattle version, the same beers (for the most part) pour at both about a week or two apart. The Portland version is in a smaller, but more shaded area and the vibe is all Portland. Like with other beer gatherings, plan ahead and get there early if there's a specific offering you want to try. You'll find some limited brews that will go fast. Bottle or keg, there's some good stuff here that maybe your old favorite or a new discovery. Branch out and try something new. Food and games also fill the park along will full pour options from a limited selection. The trees keep the temp down but it can get warm. Dress accordingly with comfortable shoes. Yes there are tables but they fill up fast. Expect to be standing all day. If you're serious about drinking beer, you're want to add the Portland International Beerfest to your list of events this summer. It's not biggest but it's well worth it. A wonderful time in the park and with dogs Cheers!

Nice location, but it outgrew itself. The recent years were ass-to-ankles type busy-ness. Instead of trying to continue to smoosh people over the years, PIB did something smart. They moved to a bigger locale in 2014. And the result? EXCELLENT. There are a ton of beer choices here - more than OBF for sure. Many are more unique or things you may not have heard about. And they surely have brews you are familiar with! The tickets range from 1-7 tickets, though most are in the lower amount. Enjoy, splurge and it's all a great time. Let me go back to one thing - they moved to Holladay Park - right by the MAX/LLoyd Center and the general consensus? Great! Larger space for absolutely everything! And easier parking/easier transit travel/nice space= win. Honestly, this is becoming my fav beer fest. OBF was good, but they don't give a shiz about anyone's opinion (which is how they blow kegs daily so quick) and clearly PIB listened! I will give any beer fest 10 gold stars for listening, and improving on their status quo. *Sidenote: The cost in 2010 was $25. The cost in 2014 is $25 for the same thing.
