This has to be the cutest chic place that I've gone to . I love walking into a store with a smiling good morning . It's so refreshing and really sets the mood for what the store will give . Everyone knows I love airy and light spaces . Well the decor was light and airy . It had the cutest knick knacks from vegan books to a hilarious disappointing notebook to incense to kitchen appliances and gifts . I really love this place I got a really cute frida pin for my best friend and this cattitude notebook for my sister . I will def be living here and it's right around where I live which is awesome! I did holiday shopping here for my first visit. I entered and was greeted, nicely offered hand sanitizer which I appreciated. They have a really nice selection of home goods, cards and some clothing items as well. They sell quality items and offered a space to a local artist to sell wares as well. If you walk through to the space next door there is a pleasant switch of vibe that mostly clothing. There was a nice sale going on when I was there too. Nowadays, a sale isn't a sale. I've visited this spot several times and the location and ambience are wonderful. Located a couple of blocks from the A/C line Nostrand Avenue location, it is a prime spot. I've seen beautiful home decor like rugs by Malene B, tables by Urban DenCity and other bed & bath products(soaps,lotions, etc.) The owners and people working are always pleasant. It's a great place to pick up a nice gift someone. I'll make sure to get gifts from there going forward. I recently helped film an interview at the location and it was a great shoot. I would have given this store a better review if the staff hadn't been so lame. I literly got scowled at when I first walked in by the woman at the counter. I thought "well ok...maybe she is having a bad day" and went over to the clothing section and it was even kind of worse there. The guy in that section gave me a pretty unwelcoming look. I tried to ignore it and not take it personal and goo ahead and look around. Right away I found a shirt I knew my nephew would like and asked if they had it in a large. Wow.. The guy acted so annoyed with my question and made a big deal about having to get off his phone to get up to open up a cabinet. It was a very awkward experience. I got the shirt and my wife bought a small bag for her computer. When we left, I mentioned my experience to my wife and she said the first woman that scowled at me pretty much refused to even acknowledge her and It was only after an older gentleman came over that she was helped. We were just visitors in town for work and fun and we came to BedStuy for the day to learn more about NYC/ Brooklyn and someone told us that Tompkins Ave was kind of cool, and it was. The Narativ and Waruda were awesome spots and incredibly friendly. Everyone on Yelp seems to give Peace & Riot great reviews so I hope it was just and odd day for them or maybe Im just not the type of customer they want in there shop.. who knows? Anyhow....Despite a really awkward experience. I can say that they do have a good selection of cool and unique stuff from house wares to clothes, gifts and cards. I always try to support the neighborhood shops when I can, weather at home or when I get to travel so at first I was happy to find this spot and give them some business, but I wouldn't go back based on my experience. Peace and Riot is a true gem and I am so glad it opened here in my neighborhood. Achusium is an expert at all things interior design and it truly shows. She is so friendly and helpful. She asked us what was the thing we were looking to buy for or rather who was it for and gently steered us to the appropriate item. The furniture is amazing, the accessories are impeccable and for this level of quality the prices are very reasonable. But the best thing is how excited I am to take home everything that I get from Peace and Riot to make my home look like a magazine photo shoot with a professional prop stylist. I can't wait to go back for more. There are some coffee table books there that I am coveting right now even though I don't have a coffee table. read more
